The film is beautifully shot and the actors give it their best but in the end it's just kind of boring and unoriginal. Trying so hard for award recognition at the expense of doing something more interesting.

Blair Witch7
Sep 21, 2016
I thought this film was a success. Yes, it was similar to the original, but it also did a good job of building tension and doling out just enough of the looming threats to keep the audience wanting more. In this regard it was actually substantially more generous than the original, which keeps it tense and satisfying even though you know what's coming. I think it's being underrated here and is better than a majority of cheesy horror films released every year. If you want a nice fall kind of movie, you could do worse than Blair Witch

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 21
Nov 25, 2015
I am surprised so many people are tricking themselves into thinking this was a good film, but I guess the rabid fandom and expectation lead to a lot of folks being unable to admit to themselves that they just watched one of the worst films ever. This was the most commercialized and soulless piece of junk I have seen in a long time. Everyone just goes through the motions to cash their paycheck. Lawrence should be disqualified from all future acting awards after this joke of a performance. The special effects are cheesy and fake-looking. Every scene is poorly lit and staged. There is simply no there there. And at two hours and seventeen minutes it is tediously over-stuffed. Surprising, considering it seemed like absolutely nothing happened at all. By the time the tenth or so ending/epilogue was playing out I wanted to get out of the theater so badly it hurt.

The most fun I've had at the movies so far this year. Beautiful visually with amazing action sequences and a lot of humor. Don't believe the negative hype machine. See it and judge for yourself.

A Most Violent Year2
Feb 5, 2015
A Most Violent Year = a mostly boring movie. The best compliment I can pay to this film is that it is not quite as boring as it rightfully should have been. Mostly this is due to actors making the best of the material and decent cinematography. Quite simply, this was not a story worth telling. The film is painfully slow and drawn out (one of the worst things you can say about a film is that it seemed much longer than it actually was) with very little action and, well, violence. That would all be fine if the plot was compelling in other ways, but it just isn't. The stakes are low, the characters are dry and one-dimensional, and there isn't much for the audience to actually care about or root for. Should we really care if some guy closes a deal on a piece of waterfront property to expand his heating oil business in 1981? Ultimately, the film mostly consists of Oscar Isaac sulking around, having conversations, and making uncomfortably-long eye contact with various people. Don't be fooled by the critical reception. This is apparently one of those films that critics will themselves to like, but which will leave most viewers perplexed by the praise.

The Raid 210

This was so awesome. The choreography and editing on the fight scenes may be the best that has ever been done in cinema. Insane "finish him" moves throughout. I don't think I've ever exclaimed out loud more times while watching a movie.

One of the worst films I have ever seen. Not believable or thrilling in the least. The acting is so bad that it nixes the possibility of any suspension of disbelief. The film has no consistent tone and the characters are utterly ridiculous.

I have no idea how this all style, no substance mess has garnered so much acclaim. What a boring film. No stakes, no suspense, poor comedy, and way too much talking. I'm literally baffled by this film.

What an amazing experience. Not unlike the one I had upon reading the book the first time. In the beginning I was skeptical, and it took a while to get used to the narrative structure, but at a certain point I was **** in and completely enveloped in the story. I have to say it was masterfully edited to keep my rapt attention throughout. The way they conceived it for the screen was brilliant.

I really enjoyed this. It was a classic superhero action movie with a lot of humorous dialogue and a great performance from Robert Downey Jr. The 3D worked well and overall it just made for a really fun experience at the theater.

Amazing action and martial arts. At first I wasn't sure what to expect, but once this movie gets going it is a non-stop blitz of amazing fight choreography and violence. It gets better and better as it goes along.

This piece of junk edged out Babel as the worst film I saw in 2006, and stands firm as maybe the worst film I have ever seen. Definitely top five. The entire over-long endeavor essentially presents scene after scene of Will Smith running, being a jerk to people, running some more, riding busses, disobeying pedestrian traffic laws, sitting down, laying down, running, etc., etc. If you like this film you just have horrible taste. I can reach no other conclusion.

This is one of the five worst films I have ever seen. Insanely boring and pointless. Dullness for the sake of dullness. Saying nothing as a pretentious "message." Spare me.

Great film. Beautifully shot and compelling throughout, despite the fact that the bulk of the action is confined to the final act. The performances were great, especially Chastain as Maya. I did not get the impression that the film was promoting any particular viewpoint, but instead presented information and allowed the viewer to draw his or her own conclusions. There seem to be a lot of reviewers who made up their minds that they would hate this for one reason or another before even seeing it. That's too bad. Unfortunately many of these people saw fit to publish their biased and uninformed positions in this forum. I would urge you to ignore them and see the film for yourself.

The Five-Year Engagement8

The rare romantic comedy that is a real movie, rather than a series of genre conventions. And it doesn't shrink on the comedy in deference to the romance. There were also a healthy dose of melancholy sequences to make everything more real.

This is the best film I've seen this year. Incredibly entertaining, hilarious and just satisfying to watch. All of the negative reviews seem to be from people who are offended by bad language and violence. Umm, don't go see a QT movie if you are so thin-skinned. For the rest of the adult audience, do not miss this one in the theaters. An amazing experience you will not soon forget.
