For me, this is what started my admiration for Paradox Games. However I would recommend Europa Universalis II over this one. EU2 is very much the same game, but with a lot of improvements.

Let's start with the positive points of the game: it looks great. But that's about the only thing it has going for it. I am very disappointed at so many other things, but perhaps my expectations were too high. I'll just name a few examples: - The game has been made so dumbed down. Take stats: the primary stats for each class are so important, that stat priority becomes a no-brainer. - The story is predictable and too linear. - Even for a hack and slash style game, D3 is too simple and repetitive
