Very poor graphics, boring gameplay, simplistic everything. The writing is ABYSMAL. Its just not fun. Sort of challenging ( I played it on veteran), but just doesn't feel right. Very woke, as well. Just not a good game. Felt like it was for under 12 children. Felt like a PS 2 game. Boring story mode.

This game is not fun, at all. There are so many labrynthian rules, that you cant even attack an enemy planet after a prolonged war because you didnt know how to set the war goals ten hours ago- even though they weren't available. This game is a total piece of **** Its like having a school teacher tut tut tut you the whole time. NOT FUN. This game will gobble up your life, with no decent payout. Very far from the accessible MOI type games. Just a series of increasingly bizzare rules. Very ****ty "game". It was better before 2.0. Now its total dog crap.

Just as good as predecessors, story-wise, better graphics, excellent sounds. The New Order was probably a bit better. -1 for too much Social Justice Warrior politics, even though its understandable during the current trend and the subject matter. No need to make it so ham-fisted, it undermines the character of BJ, and is space that could be filled with so much more, such as better historical extrapolation about a **** America, more regional characters (surfers, ranchers, latinos, mobsters...) and its just such a tiring trend at this point, besides. Machine Games is one of the best boutique studios out there.

This game is the culmination of every bad video game trend in the last decade. Its a **** twitch shooter, that totally misses the point of the subject matter. If you like respawning, dying, dying, dying, flukey kill, what happened there, dying, dying, dying, wtf, really?!?, dying, dying, ughhhhh... this has the pacing of a Virtual AI machines meet and fight in nanoseconds-but ATTACHED TO THE GODDAMN SECOND WORLD WAR... It makes no sense. It isn't fun. Its packed with super-honed COD players that treat WW2 like Quake. Its just gross. And the extra money-grabs are just the icing. Avoid this game, its a waste of time. you could be playing something fun. This is a serious setback for Activision. Worst game I've played in years. Its like forcing long-time fans to fight like dogs. Unelegant. Crass. Tampered-with. Admit it, you played this game and it WASN'T fun. I'd rather play Counterstrike, Battlefront, checkers, with myself, ANYTHING is more fun than this. 2/10, because nice single player...sorta. Crashed 4 times on me on PS4 before I got to "play". TWITCH SHOOTERS CANT BE WW2 SHOOTERS!

The best WW2 RTS since COH, and well worth the price. Its deep, graphically beautiful, and plays like a chess game. Building your own divisions is fun, within the set parameters. People who complain about balance issues just don't realize that some divisions just aren't as good as others- you can pick between about ten divisions on either Axis or Allied side and the balance is actually beautiful. I like to pick weaker divisions to challenge myself and spice up the multiplayer matches.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Political correctness and bad facial animations ruin what would have been a solid title. The first instance, by the way, **** politics becoming an obstacle to my enjoyment. Right off the bad (typo that will stay!), I could not get a face that looked like mine, a pretty standard, rather squarish-headed person of European heritage. As the game progressed, there were a few other annoyances, such as the dialogue to follow a certain theme of virtue signalling, and the now obligatory slotting of characters into non traditional gender roles. Women almost always powerful, and waaaay too many "soft" men in military, trades or settler jobs. Also, there was a lack of bloodthirstiness and general bad behavior by the human men in your company. Contrast these little bit characters' dialogue snippets with those of the Witcher 3, and you'll see what I mean, The men in W3 had vulgar, violent, and sexist leanings that added veracity. The men of Andromeda seemed sterile and unrealistic. The dialogue wheel in Andromeda just isn't good. Not enough interesting choices, and that feeling of being a dangerous and sometimes evil space sheriff from previous Mass Effect titles was gone. I played an evil man in ME 1-3, and I just couldn't get that same feeling or anything close in Andromeda. That's a big problem in an RPG. I won't go into the other details, I havn't yet finished the game and I probably won't. The combat is better, but there has been a lack of gore and that real feeling of impact from your weapons. It feels too HALO-y so far. I would have preferred a grittier Andromeda overall, more Star Wars than Star Trek, but that is a design choice that I can accept, Mass Effect is more of a high sci-fi game, and that's okay. Overall a disappointment, but still worth a go.

They took out the tactical pause. This means that you play the whole game from the ugly radar view, and it devolves into franticlicking and overuse of strategic control grouping, with almost no tactical action. This is a fail. Lots of people will hack at the gamers, like me, who want tactical pause for the main reason that it it makes the game look beautiful. My favorite part of homeworld was pausing huge battles or vistas to take in the graphics and let the imagination run wild. The lack of a tactical pause removes this key element. To be clear- I try to avoid tactical pause, because it makes the game much easier. I am not willing to give it up though, as it ruins the game for me to have to stay in the overhead view, and not be able to be the Director of my own space opera. The original games were challenging with tac pause. Why? Why remove it? The removal of tactical pause holds this game back from a much higher score, and it was a stupid decision to remove the option entirely. Sorry, I played the game for a few missions, but I will not be completing it because of this horrible decision to remove a fundamental gameplay element from Homeworld.

This is ****. The first half is almost TOO much, and its very good. The second half is linear, cheesy, boring, and traps you. Once you start it, you are trapped for dozens of hours, until you beat the main baddy. Then you get to go back to the world, But why would you want to? The climax is supposed to be at the and, and reward the grinding. This game is a 5/10, being ****. Very disappointing structural flaw. How did this get approved? Heads need to roll at the top, Square Enix. This is bad game direction. Also, the plot was alternatively convoluted and bullet-riddled, or predicatable and derivative. This is almost a good game, but its just not. I played it for over 50 hours and then just stopped caring. The Linear aspect made me feel cheated.

A disappointment. The dialogue and humour are the worst in the series, and I've played them all. Doesn't feel like much time was spent on the plot. The graphics are ho-hum. Bad, even. Fallout 3 was beautiful. This just looks boring- lacking in its own style. I have seen very little that makes this game a true sequel, it just feels like a Fallout 3 Mod. Worst of all, they have sort of ruined Fallout's lore and setting by spelling too much out. And finally, this is supposed to be more than 200 years in the future?? No way. The damage to the houses and urban decay look like decades, not centuries. Somebody messed up here.

This is probably the best non-blockbuster PS4 game as of early 2015. Its dark and scary and violent and awesome with nice bits of humour mixed in, polished like a diamond and has some of the best voice acting, music and overall sound I've heard in a video game. My favorite part was the **** Moon base. An incredible effort that the makers of the game should be proud of. Incredible graphical detail and setting. Very, very fun to play, if not a bit draining just because its so dark.

Very disappointing. Alpha Centauri was one of the best games ever made. It seems as though this one was dumbed down, leached of mature content and graphics (these are too cartoony), and light on the serious depth of the spiritual predecessor. Also, the lack of an Anglo, Japanese, Scandinavian, German, Canadian, and other cultures make this a big miss. I was going to buy it but its a pass, and I will stick with the amazing Endless Legend, the current king of TBS games.

Company of Heroes is the best video game that I have ever played, and in my opinion it is the chess of video gaming. I am still playing it regularly in 2014. It is an absolute shame that COHO- Company of Heroes Online, was cancelled in late beta, because it is the only thing going that could derail this juggernaut. A diamond. Stairway to Heaven. A golden retriever. A sexy lady. An object of man made perfection. COH also has the most graphic and realistic violence in the most ageless graphics of all war games. The voice acting, sound effects, and graphics are sublime. There is infinite depth in its complex array of play modes. Rest in Peace Brian Wood, you made the game to stand the test of time and honor its subject matter.

Total War: Rome II
3
User ScoreSoakerCity
Sep 11, 2013
Dismal. Lets assume that this game should have gotten a 10, being of top pedigree and probably the most anticipated game of 2013. Rome 1 was perfect. This game should have been a graphical update with a few new features, a handful of more daring gameplay innovations, and a better narrative, AI tweaks, and more varied units and factions. Instead, we have a game released that lags even three thousand dollar computers, and is unplayable by mid range rigs. This makes no sense, since its predecessors, notably Shogun, ran beautifully. Subtract two points for being unfinished and poor graphics management that leaves the target audience unable to play the game. Next, the AI is not fun to play, realistic or challenging. Another strike. The new innovations; A system of management by generals which has nothing to do with any previous Total War game, and thus unfamiliar and cumbersome. Same can be said for the regional management. Every previous Total War game was easy to both manage and find information. In short, the old way gave excellent control. These two new abominations alienate the Total War loyals and are just plain awkward. Not fun. That's four strikes. Next we move to Naval combat. You have to play it to believe it. I simply couldn't figure out what was going on until I read other people explain on forums, just exactly how they butchered this. Awful. Another strike. And we will throw in one more strike for adding capture points that appear after you set up your men and form a strategy, as well as the blob rush that has replaced the old strategic combat. Things get particularly gruesome around the gates of a city, where fancy graphics such as the burning gates, the gigantic war banners, and the overload of nice graphics in general turn my computer into a slide projector. I'm running an I5 with a GT640 BTW. Finally, to bring this game the dismal score of 3/10, I'd like to address the overall lack of warmth, homogeneous characters and lack of control over them. The portraits of the generals all look the same. Their abilities are hard to find because of the UI (shouldn't I just be able to click on the General's portrait??) and the new system where new followers supplant a random old one, all of which happens behind the scenes, ****. I was horribly disappointed with this game, quit playing after 16 hours, and I won't be back for months to see if the updates make it at least playable. I believe that the flaws are too fundamental, however. People should be fired for this. The biggest disappointment of 2013 in any meta-category.
