Madden NFL 210
Jan 21, 2021
This game, and I use that term loosely is nothing more than a copy-and-paste iteration of the last few Madden games with updated rosters, more bugs and unwanted additional modes that push microtransactions (who asked for a Spongebob football field?!). It takes true talent to have a rinse-and-repeat game actually become buggier and more unplayable by the year. EA has endless resources, the exclusive NFL license and literally does nothing with it. If this "game" and the overwhelming hate for it doesn't make EA or the NFL wake up to what's happening, nothing ever will. Madden 21 is literally rock bottom for this once-proud football franchise.

The Last of Us Part II7
Jan 21, 2021
SPOILER-FREE, NO-AGENDA REVIEW: The Last of Us 2 is a true gaming experience. By the end, I felt exhausted in every way possible, both good and bad. Graphically, it's a stunning masterpiece. The gameplay is fluid and responsive with moments of true fight-for-survival gameplay that left me breathless. What stops this from getting a 10 is the story, which by now you heard is very controversial. I'll give the creators props for taking chances and really hitting you in the gut with some genuinely shocking moments. However, the way the story was executed left a lot to be desired. I get what they were going for, but in the end, I was left unsatisfied and not really all that stoked for the next game. The major issue with the story isn't the themes, it's how they were done. The first game was a masterpiece in visual storytelling and character arches that really made you invest. In this game, all subtlety is replaced with beat-you-over-the-head preaching and excessive amounts of cheap storytelling tropes that frankly make you despise every character. By the end, I really didn't care who lived or died, I just wanted it to end. I can't even say if this game has any replay value because I beat it a week after finishing it and have no desire to relive it, a far cry from the epic journey I wanted to go on countless times in the first game. Hopefully, the third installment takes the "less is more" approach.
