Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 has it's flaws and I am not sure how to judge those. The franchise really has identity issues. The game has done things right: graphics, soundtrack, combat, multiplayer, these "touching moments"... yet it still fails to satisfy completely. Some important story-arcs are completely cut off, certain characters were simply dismissed, side-missions are almost non-existent, the writing is laughable at points and (this has already been discussed to death) the terrible ending happened. I don't know if more time for the development would have helped, but this game seemed rushed and unfinished at every end. It was an enjoyable game up until the ending, but certainly not the outstanding quality fans are used to.

Dead Island is one of the best zombie games I have ever played. It has some issues, but none of them are really game-breaking. The graphics are pretty good at some parts and ridiculous at **** tropical feeling on a beautiful island was caught quite good though. I have expected more from the story after the famous emotional announcement trailer. You are immune to the virus (no one knows why) and try to escape with mysterious person that somehow has the only helicopter on the holiday island. It's not really original or special in any way. The Gameplay itself is where the fun is at: 4 friends on a free-roaming island with zombies. The standalone idea is awesome and worked out well with RPG elements and a sunny tropical island to explore with your friends. I really got to love this game for it's individuality and atmosphere. There is a lack of story, but the nice tech, the fresh concept and very enjoyable gameplay make it a fantastic action/roleplaying game that deserves to be played. A Must-Have for every zombie fan in my opinion.

I classify Battlefield 3 as a success and I would even go as far as saying it's my favorite multiplayer game. The streaming tech they used for textures really worked out well and the game looks and sounds fantastic, the best what the Xbox has to offer so far. The singleplayer is pretty forgettable. Not good, not bad, but enjoyable. I never expected too much from it anyway, many Battlefield fans will agree here. Multiplayer is where it's at and that has hit the nail on the head, even with "just" 24 players on a map. It's fun in all points that made the Battlefield-franchise popular. Anyone who had fun with previous Battlefield games will find a worthy sequel that improved everything that was needed to be improved.

This is clearly the best arcade-game available in my opinion. It can't compare with "real" games, but for the branch it is nearly perfect. It's astonishing what this game is capable of. It's not only another great Trials game with improved graphics and physics, but thanks to the map-editor and the communities' creativity you can expand the experience a lot. However, after all it's still a Trials game which means that the gameplay of driving a motorcycle in 2D perspective can get quite dull after a while, no matter how much quality content there is.

I haven't expected too much from the game at first (never played the original), but it really surprised me. You can really feel the effort that Eidos Montreal has put into this great game. Style, story and universe are incredibly interesting and based on your skills, or your way to interact with great developed characters, every playthrough can feel different. One gripe that I may have are the side-missions. You land in some city because of the main-mission and the side-missions you get are in most cases just optional additions. They never lead you go somewhere new, what makes them uninteresting after a few. The way these mission are played, is fun though. Challenging and fair. You just don't have 2 options: sneak or shoot. It is different: hacking turrets and cameras, going threw ventilation shafts, assassinate guards, several entrances... There are many ways to the goal. Whatever your plan is, there are decent skills for every type of gamer. The games' strongest point is it's great developed story, supported with decent gameplay and average tech. At todays' dead RPG genre a very good game.

Simply amazing! In my opinion clearly the best in the series and my personal GOTY. The limitless freedom of exploration returns and lets you experience an unique adventure that is setting milestones in the RPG genre. You have the complete freedom in what you do, there is not even a real class you choose: You build up your complete own in the flow of the game. The huge environment invites you to explore every single part of it with beautiful landscapes, an amazing soundtrack and interesting sidequests around every corner. It has been a long time since I was this satisfied with a game.

A terrible sequel. MW1 was a revolution in 2007, MW2 improved on it in 2009. 2011, MW3 is a disgrace for the CoD-series and modern games at all. 3 studios were working on it for 2 years, and this is what we get: A rehash of a 4 year old game. The 5-hour campaign is terrible designed, as you just shoot your way through different sizes and shapes of corridors, streets and other environment that is filled with lots and lots of enemies. No flanking, no tactic, just rushing through endless enemy-waves, what constantly gets interrupted by the usual badass slow-mos. You have a hard time following the plot, but when you do, it's just a unreasonable story that could have been written by a class of 11-year olds. The kind of audience, that is obviously trying to be attracted here. Multiplayer is very demotivating, because you feel just like prestige-ing in MW2. Most weapons, callsigns, killstreaks are in the same order, with the same way of achieving them. Maps as well as the weapons all "feel" the same. They seem to have tried too hard to balance everything, that now there is nothing special about either of them. Spec-Ops is the best out of every playable mode, but that really isn't such a big compliment. It's fun to play, but once you are through, you are done with it. Survival-mode is unfair and complete randomly added. If I would have to make a conclusion... Take the chocolate ice-cream that MW1 was, add some sparkles from MW2, and now take a huge pile of **** and mix it. Now you have MW3.
