Riders Republic is a gateway introduction to extreme sports set in exhilarating environments. It's a great game that can be picked up or put down with a minimal learning curve while still providing some adrenaline-packed moments of excitement. Although the racing may seem hypercompetitive, the atmosphere is very casual, silly, and customizable. The game has little linearity and is primarily a giant creative sandbox environment to try different sports in racing, tricks, and scenic exploration. I found the snow sports most enjoyable. Just try not to crash into a tree or a rock, and you'll be bound to have a great time.

Resident Evil Revelations is a worthwhile distraction from its more entertaining numerical sequels. It has bizarre events that differ greatly from the originals. The story events and characters seem overly generic with little buildup or notoriety. Some environment scenes are exotic and visually appealing. The game offers an experience following a simplified version of the traditional resident evil formula. Overall, it presents itself more as a prototype with missing elements.

Quake 2 has aged well and will continue to age well as a defining FPS of its time. It sets a high standard using one of the finest game engines for the genre. The gameplay is smooth from the movement to the weapons to the physics. The music, sound effects, and ambiance sounds are top-notch and complement the theme to fit in with the environment. Although Quake 2 may lack some elements of character development and deeper story explanation, it allows the player to imagine while focusing on the instant action aspect. The level designs are creative and elegant but sometimes feel repetitive and confusing to navigate. Some of the included mission packs are decent, but do not exceed expectations of the base game: Q64 - Very linear, enclosed, and short. Overall it was OK, however, it has a bland level design. 7/10 Call of the Machine - Some parts were hectic and difficult. It was OK. 7/10 The Reckoning - Lots of water stuff, traps, and backtracking in a boring dull environment. Not many weapons early on. Overall it's not great and very boring. 6/10 Ground Zero - Good weapons and a fast pace. Decent and fun. 8/10

Silent Hill communicates paranormal fear, darkness, isolation, and a nightmarish experience. It showcases an impressive 3D environment, dynamic camera, and movement system with little control issues. Although the combat system is tame, most of the gameplay is focused on environmental navigation with some detailed puzzle-solving elements. It is a terrifying game to play at night or alone.

Max Payne is a milestone that challenges the moral standard of acceptable violence and secrecy through storytelling. Discover the endless conspiracy of atrocities absent of both justice and accountability. It is atmospheric, dramatic, grimy, and symbolic. Expect disgusting crime, unholy sin, and absolute corruption to the maximum pain for the unsuspecting innocent.

Paper Mario is a worthwhile RPG that pays tribute to a previous Mario RPG title, following a simplified formula in the next graphical dimension. It introduces a creative and amusing art blend of 2D sprites with an interactive 3D environment. Although the theme and animations seem cartoony and comical, the gameplay may provide temporary points of challenge for some newcomers to the genre. Gameplay will often test the player's ability to backtrack, recall previous dialogs and environments, and pay attention to detail to advance through the story. The repetitive battle music may be lackluster and missing some epicness, but they still maintained interest with new enemies and abilities.

Half Life establishes the connection of scientific moment with interdimensional resonance of supernatural intelligence. Planning, safety, and aim will be necessary to survive the situation within Half Life. Expect to interface with scientists, dimensional beings, and military personnel in this experience of foreshadowed science fiction or possibly a shared interdimensional disclosed message. Auto-aim is sometimes unpredictable. Expect some situations of awkwardly precise maneuvering and jumping to advance through some sections. Some of the sounds and voices are humorous but muffled. A few parts may be slightly challenging if unprepared. Overall, it was a great experience and I look forward to future Half Life continuations.

An ironically familiar and similar expansion map to the original. This is another demanding experience with extreme boss fights, exploration, and discovery. The difficulty seems greater than the original content and accelerates rapidly at the end. Most of the optional and side content may be recommended for the total completion of this expansion.

This dark souls-like and open-world adventure continues to mock the player in symbolism and difficulty. The experience is rewarding with detailed, immersive, and atmospheric aesthetics while punishing with little guidance for direction and strategy. Navigation is scenic and relaxing, however, traversal is sometimes difficult and frustrating. A companion guide wiki may seem desired for completion and during moments of uncertainty. Multiplayer is flexible, aiming for a choice-driven interaction whether it is pvp or co-op. Overall, it is a great game with demanding skill requirements.

Tekken 8 is a great addition similar to Tekken 7. However, not much has changed with the biggest addition being the Heat system. The Heat system seems to be more of a crutch and overkill mechanic than a useful one although it does open up for easier high damage combo opportunities and quick wins. Character selection seems very limited and some character revisions are terribly different (Paul, Law, Hwoarang). Story mode seems a bit repetitive and has non-sensical dialog, more like a weird anime episode. The new Arcade Quest mode is more of a tutorial and for new players to practice. The stage designs are nice, but the stage music isn't as hype as before. I would wait for a sale before purchasing the game.

MK1 is a decent game, just lacking in key areas compared to its recent iterations. The game graphics look great from the characters to the environment, but the content beyond the story such as invasion mode is extremely repetitive, not rewarding, and introduces burdensome mechanics like talismans and relics that don't do enough to justify their significance. Tower mode is there but doesn't offer anything different or new from the traditional experience. The Kameo system offers some variation on character styles and combos but is really just an extra special move at the end of the day. Online mode is fine if you enjoy the sweaty ranked 1vs1 matches or King of Hill mode, but there is nothing for casual players such as co-op challenges, tag, or other modes beyond hyper competitive play. Making online mode an exhausting and short lived experience. The shop content is disappointing offering generic palette swapped costumes and premium shop also offers very little. The premium shop also hasn't been refreshed since launch which is an extreme blow to players who bought the premium edition and dragon krystals. Selling premium currency with nothing to spend it on. Predatory tactics with false advertising. This game is 100% dependent on a patch to resolve the issues pointed out in this review or it most likely be considered an extremely disappointing release that will set the negative outlook on the future of Mortal Kombat. NRS can do much better and chose to release MK1 in this current state.

Final Fantasy XVI

FFXVI is a devolution away from a strategic turn-based JRPG adventure into a cinematic romantic dramatic conversation simulator with occasional button mashing action battles sprinkled in. Compared to older FF titles, the overall story, environment, and theme seems rather tame to the epic imagination of the previous entries in the series. You will most likely find yourself spending countless hours doing MMO type messenger boy side quests and wondering if your time is being well spent. Many of the combat mechanics ideas are borrowed from other action adventure games and don't really add anything unique to the gameplay element. There is little room for customization or building your character as most items are better than their predecessors. Many elements of the game are repetitive and honestly a bit boring. Much patience will be required to complete this title. However, the environments seem well designed and the graphics for most areas are great with much detail and atmosphere. While some of the NPCs seem to be often too generic, the primary characters seem to be very well designed with detail to their persona. The cinematics of most of the battles including the boss battles are extremely well done and bring the excitement back to the game as what is mostly advertised in the trailers. Key moments in the main quest line do make the overall story more interesting and create more of an immersion of real world symbolism. Some dialog lines are great and will be moments to remember. Overall, I don't feel like FFXVI lived up to the older titles in terms of greatness. However, if you are looking for a passive FF title with great cinematics and long dialog sequences then get ready to invest about 50-60 hours to complete this title.
