I am convinced that, without any doubt, this is perfection in Pokémon form. With the best story known to the series, tough battles, legendaries to hunt, and a massive list of Pokémon to collect, the sequels to Pokémon Black and White are easily the best games the series has to offer. Even if you haven’t played the originals, you can jump right in on to this one!

Easily the best game from the GBA era of Fire Emblem, at least in my opinion. Despite having a simplistic storyline, the fun characters and map design make up for it greatly. With some of the best villains the series has to offer, I’d recommend Sacred Stones to anyone looking to enter the Fire Emblem series

Mario Kart Tour is - quite simply, Mario Kart dumbed down for a smartphone. Despite the simplicity and pay-to-win nature of the ranked cup, however, the constant changing of tracks still makes for a fun experience. With the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass, however, Tour is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant as time goes on, and the end draws near for it.

Easily one of my favourite 3DS titles of all time. Befriending Yo-kai is easier and more fun than ever before, thanks to several mechanics that boost the odds! With a long and engaging story, two protagonists, the Blaster’s T mode for some fun multiplayer action, and a TON more optional side-content, I would 100% recommend Yo-Kai Watch 3 to anyone willing to get their hands on this extremely rare game.

One of the best indie games I’ve ever had the chance to experience. Mobile controls may be a bit finicky, but with time and patience, you can get used to them. Terraria is quite difficult, with the endgame being a gauntlet of fights. People compare Terraria to Minecraft a lot, when really, they aren’t alike at all. Terraria worlds are more of a short-term thing, with limited size and the constant threat of the corruption slowly eating away at your world. If you want to use a world long term, it’s possible to cut off the corruption, but it’s VERY time consuming. Terraria has a heavy focus on progression and combat, with building just being an extra. If building is all you truly care about, however, Journey Mode allows you to duplicate materials, and has a Godmode, allowing you to completely ignore all forms of damage.

Definitely not the worst Sonic game like some people will say, but still a relatively skippable game that isn’t worth the money.

Way better than the Wii U and PC version. Controls are nice, there’s a lot of great levels, and even a fair amount of difficulty towards the end. While some levels are questionable design-wise, and the final world is nothing but bosses, Sonic Lost World 3DS is a great experience for those willing to play it. Just… don’t play the special stages.

One of, if not THE most underrated Sonic games of all time. With great music, fun bosses, and decent level design, Sonic Rush deserves to be put on a pedestal as a mainline game - because calling every portable game a spin-off is just dumb.

A great starting point for a new fire emblem fan, but very mediocre overall. Uninteresting characters, boring map design, mediocre story, etc. The music and customization easily propel this game higher than I would have given it otherwise, but its direct successor both has better music and much more in depth customization, along with better maps

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Ultimate is right - this truly is the greatest Smash Bros. Game of all time! Despite some questionable choices (Richter, Daisy, and Dark Samus are all near identical to their base fighters. Other “Echo Fighters” have at least two major differences that set them apart), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate easily has the best roster in the series. Gameplay is the fastest it’s been since Melee, with dodging being reworked, and easier methods to perform certain techniques. For Single-Player content, Classic Mode is better than ever, with each character getting a personalized route. The Spirit Board and World of Light are fun side modes to do in your spare time. Special modes like Multi-Man Smash and Home Run Contest allow for you to work and improve a high score, and Stage Builder allows you to make your own stages, with four different layers to build on! The worst part of Smash Ultimate is by far the Online Play. Matchups are based around GSP, a ranking system made for the game. However, high GSP doesn’t inherently make one skilled, and low GSP doesn’t inherently make one bad. It is very possible to practice for a while, hop online, and get destroyed by someone who, despite having lower GSP, is SIGNIFICANTLY more skilled than you. It is also possible to do the reverse, destroying someone with more gsp despite having little to no practice. The online is also prone to lag, and even with good internet, inputs may struggle to be read, making certain characters a lot worse overall. However, the online experience is such a small portion of an otherwise near-perfect game. So overall, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gets the seal of approval.

Easily my least favourite 3DS Fire Emblem. Playing through this game was miserable, with a mediocre story and boring gameplay. After the great time I had playing Fates and Awakening, I was hoping to enjoy Shadows of Valentia, before I was met with a terrible omen of things to come - one inventory slot. As the game progresses, things get worse. Boring boat maps, Cantors infinitely spawning monsters - and later on - teleporting witches, desert maps that slow anyone without a Pegasus to a crawl, swamp maps that force you to walk through damaging swamps just to complete the map - there’s no other way to beat them! I ended up quitting the game right as I reached act 5, because despite the fact that I was so close to finishing, I could not handle it anymore. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a miserable experience and I could only ever recommend it to superfans of the Fire Emblem Series.

Easily my favourite of the three 3DS Fire Emblem titles. A massive cast of fun characters, map design that ranges from decent to excellent, with only a few outright “bad” maps, and a massive amount of character customization and replayability. Want Odin to go absolutely insane? Reclass him to a Samurai, promote him to a Swordmaster, reforge a Killing Edge, and give it a long name. Now Odin is landing crits for days! With three different routes, no two playthroughs are identical! However, despite the incredibly fun gameplay, Fire Emblem Fates has a poor story, which isn’t good for an RPG. However, from a purely gameplay standpoint, Fire Emblem Fates is a great game that should be tried out by anyone looking to get into the series. Sadly, it can no longer be obtained legitimately, and the DLC is no longer obtainable.

A brilliant game held back by glitches. Exploring and catching Pokémon is fun, the story - while not the strongest in the series - is still one of the best so far, and the Terastal mechanic adds a layer of depth to battling never before seen. However, the excellent core experience is held back by glitches galore. Constant frame dips, Pokémon spawning inside walls, crashes, a bug that results in save data being corrupted, and more. All these issues held back what could have been one of the best games in the entire series.
