Possibly the most important indie game ever made. Not only was it one of the very first, but also the most coherent one made by a single dev at the time in my opinion. It blows my mind that a single person made this, the music is outstanding, and the gameplay, visuals and story are all just very pleasant. Amazingly solid FREE game (on pc); outstanding that the developer didn't even want money for their creation. The whole experience is very good and cheap/free, and the story genuinely feels like a modern fairytale... 10/10!
A wise man once said... MGS2 is subjectively the best game; and MGS3 is objectively the best game. And I can't think of a better way to put it. Both are arguably the best stealth action games ever made, with their revolutionary stories and gameplay. Whilst MGS2 has the better story, MGS3 has the better gameplay, and both are incredible experiences. Peacewalker in this collection is by far the best way to experience it. The updated FPS and controls make it a much more competent game, and really show what it was envisioned to be. Peacewalker, while less popular, is still hella fun, and an absolute must play to fans of the series as a tie in between mgs3 and 5 (4 is much later in the timeline), and a very fun more action-oriented title. Closing thoughts: literally 3 masterpieces on one disk, that's nuts!!
Online was broken, balancing wasn't great, mechanics were questionable... but it's still a masterpiece. The absolutely legendary newcomers, the outstanding new soundtrack, the radical new stages, and the unforgettable most badass crossover story ever mended all in this one package. Yes the game was "almost perfect", but it's also better than we deserved and so much more than we asked for. Thank you Nintendo for the best smash game to date.
Drift mechanics are the best in the series, though having a lower skill ceiling than DD, MKDS really streamlined the series' accessibility through it's simple yet effective gameplay, and new online mode. Modern Mario Kart started with this title, and if the future titles are so critically acclaimed, then this one should be too.
This game is hilarious and incredibly fun. I've 100%'d it which I rarely accomplish in longer games like these. I think this game is the perfect combination of fun and interesting to make anyone fall in love with it. Yes it's a little bit dated, but it's charm outweighs any issues I've had with it... except crashing on the final level... man why did I play the ps2 classics version. Closing thoughts: "I AM THE MILKMAN. MY MILK IS DELICIOUS."
Whilst I LOVED the first game, I just found the second one... boring. The story is much more grandiose, so it must be better right? Well... It just had me losing interest more than anything. The portrayal of the minds were also much more detailed this time too, portraying mental illnesses and conflicts much better than the first... however I felt like it sacrificed fun too much for art. Actually the whole game felt like a masterful art piece, however it prioritized it's art over gameplay and as a result, made the game feel a little too slow at times. While the game didn't resonate with me much, it could be right up your ally depending on the type of person you are. I 100%'d the game btw, and these are my closing thoughts.
Absolutely amazing revision upon the original RE for PSX. It gave me a way to experience the series in a modern way and absolutely blew my mind with how in-depth it was, even for a remaster of a 1996 title. So many times I'd think: OH! I must be towards the end of the game, and BAM, I'm introduced to a new enemy type that raises tension, and a new area entirely separate from the starting rooms of the mansion. It's refreshing to play a horror game that's scarier to die in and lose progress than to be jumpscared and have a mini heart jump, and I really appreciate the game for that aspect especially. This remaster is a true 10/10 way to first experience the series, and without it, very few modern gamers would've even touched RE1. BTW play with someone else, solving puzzles with a first timer is absolutely charming!
Absolute modern masterpiece and instant classic. Many great games in one, packaged into a one of a kind, amazing experience unlike anything else. The world and humor is so incredibly charming that my words couldn't do them justice. My personal favorite campaign was King of Cards where a new gameplay loop is introduced, and the humor is at it's best. If I had one word to describe the experience: Iconic. These characters and this world now mean to me what Mario and Sonic are to me; it feels like they're apart of a series that have always been with me. The experience may be wrapped up in a nice bow, but this incredibly creative world can be limitless.
Incredibly fun, very immersive, with Atlus' most impressive environment and demon design yet. The story has a lot to be desired though. I personally 100%'d it, but only because I adore the environments and gameplay, and not the story.
Where desu2 excelled in music, art, and gameplay, it unfortunately left more to be desired from it's characters and story. The re-release (Record Breaker) also added a new story after the events of the first one and... it's bad. The first day was great, but that was it... I'm not scoring based on that however, as it's just extra content, however beware if you're buying based on that alone.
The best story in the entire Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Gameplay is solid, characters are great, difficulty is there, and soundtrack is good. Where the game really shines though is it's incredibly realistic portrayal of an apocalypse, with a demon-y spin! Seeing the struggles and conflicts overcome by the cast change their attitudes and alignments individually is such a treat. The story's conclusion, regardless of whom you side with, is always phenomenal. The 3ds re-release (overclocked) added an 8th day to the story for multiple routes, and two words: peak-fiction. I got the king of demons ending in my first playthrough and just... chills.
This game predicted (or shall I say, influenced) modern culture, and started a new direction for indies. You see it everywhere because it deserves to be. This game does what nothing else at the time did, and it was FIRST! An absolute must play for anyone in their lifetime.
Amazingly wonderful short game with a VERY fun twist. The whole experience is just good vibes and fun music; Don't go in expecting the best story or gameplay you've ever seen, but something unique and solid unlike anything you've ever played before.

Act 1 alone is incredibly in-depth, and so addicting it should be illegal. Act's 2 and 3 are amazing bonus add-ons, and the Kaycee's Mod unlock at the end really bumps this game to new heights. The gameplay loops of acts 1 and 3 are SO fun, act 2 is a bit slower, however it crucially builds this games (admittedly simple), but fun story. Don't spoil yourself on anything about this game and go in blind, I promise you will have an unexpectedly wonderful time.
The deepest story and characters of the entire series (yes, including the persona 2 duology too). This game revolutionized Atlus at the time, introducing so many new gameplay aspects never done before in the original release, including the new art and soundtrack direction, gameplay, and sim aspects. Unlike it's successors however, persona 3 truly complemented these new aspects in the most meaningful ways tied into it's story. The story has the most beautiful commentary on the fear of not living to the fullest vs fearing death I've ever seen in fiction. The game also, unlike future installments, had a cast that really had human flaws like jealousy, and laziness; a cast that DIDN'T want to follow you around everywhere, and had their own growth developments outside of the main character's presence. This game pulls no punches when it comes to characters dying, and it can feel like a big emotional punch in the gut, sometimes even bringing tears out of it's players. This game is sometimes a bit slow, with the movement in the overworld feeling clunky especially, however beneath lies a life changing story that everyone should experience. P.S. Persona 3's been adapted into 4 continuous movies; yeah FOUR. They're INCREDIBLE though, and arguably go deeper into the story than the GAME does... needless to say, I binged all four back to back, and I think they're an incredible way to experience this story in 6 hours rather than 90!
This right here might be the most *FUN* jrpg ever made. It's incredibly hard to put down during it's combat, engaging story, sim aspects, bangin soundtrack and revolutionary dungeon crawling. It's original base release revolutionized gaming artstyles, and proved that fast arcade-like combat is the secret sauce to bringing any turn based rpg to new heights. I've put around 300 hours into this game across multiple platforms, and it's always been a visual and auditory treat the whole way through
Objectively the best SMT title to date in my opinion. Story is there, art is there, gameplay is there, and oh my god the soundtrack is definitely there. This game is incredibly technically impressive too; I could not believe that I was left to roam large patches of Tokyo by foot, fully in 3d, on a 3ds; and the speed of battles, and UI navigation is just wonderful. The game is often criticized for it's sometimes directionless open world, but that's what makes it so special. During my recurring playthroughs, I started to wonder about parts of the world, how everything happened the way it did, and made theories of these events in my head. The story is meant to be more immersive than directly satisfying, and if you let yourself get engrossed by the world and actually do some side quests, I think you'll find yourself one of the best modern stories in gaming.
Arguably the best game I've ever played. Story was fun, music was great, graphics were absolutely stunning (outside of the uncanny human models), gameplay was incredibly solid, and concepts were phenomenal. This is a game everyone should play with their partner, seated next to each-other. This game features combat, stealth, rhythm, street fighter, puzzles, shooter, racing, platforming, and everything in-between. The amount of times I'd gotten chills playing this with my partner is immense, I wish I could go back and play it for the first time once again. I believe this is the most polished, and beautifully intimate couch-coop game to date, and an absolute must-play for anyone in a relationship.
