It's an okay game. Repetitive and a little glitchy with either being too sensitive or not sensitive enough. There are some objectives and upgrades to get, things to collect and aim for (coins, power ups etc) but no real incentive to keep playing. However, to be fair, it is a very unique and nice looking, nice sounding still fairly fun infinite runner game with a well delivered idea and feel as you mad-dash for the free world outside of the temple. It has a dynamic camera as it swoops low when you skid underneath a tree and bends tightly as you go around the corners but like I mentioned earlier, there are some sensitivity problems so you will still have times where the game doesn't respond to your commands and therefore you either do something you didn't mean to or you don't do something you wanted to do which really does get irritating (usually how I die).which is mostly why I can't give it a higher score. Aside from that it's fun though just maybe not in long doses....
Really fun puzzle game. Challenging but easy to walk away from so it's great to play when you're bored or if you're like me, before you go to sleep to get your mind off things. It gets harder the more levels you do and of course you can always increase the number of squares in the board to make it harder as well. It's free and comes with a LOT of puzzles and it gives you a taste of the sequel "Flow Free Bridges" with one of the packs. Overall, nice...
As far as casual time killing games go, this one is challenging and amusing all at once as you try to prevent the deaths of various beings through various methods. Each challenge (get X amount of points) rewards you by unlocking a new character on your main screen (train station platform) with the goal of getting all of the people you try to save. In addition to being amusing and having a lot of variety, the music is pretty catchy too (I recommend watching the video). Pretty fun to play, does not require internet connection.
OK Let's be serious here.... I got this because it had Spyro in it and I was curious. Although I don't see the point of buying the little figures, spending actual money, or buying this on an actual system, for a casual game on my ipad it's alright. It does what you want it to do.... kill time, develop and expand your land, earn gems to buy more characters, plant crops to get the magic potions you need to do certain things (activate stuff, go on adventures, etc). It's sort of mind numbing but it's better than doing nothing and there are plenty of worse things. However, if you were looking for a Spyro game and haven't heard by now, don't be fooled... it's a trap. It's sad to see what happened to him and Cynder...
This is actually a really fun game. I was kinda iffy on getting it but it was cheap where I got it so I chanced it. It got decent reviews and honestly I don't know why they aren't higher if only by a little. I understand, it IS a platformer and it uses the dumbest remote/controller of all time but the graphics are good, the storyline though simple is cute, and the music is pretty upbeat. The levels are challenging it's fun for killing time. Would I take it over a Zelda title? Probably not because I'm a Zelda nerd... (unless it's spirit tracks, god awful abomination of the series) but it's still a pretty decent Wii title especially if you have young children around. I would however recommend motion plus (not sure if it's required for it but it should be) because the controls are a little finicky and that improves it a bit. It would also be great if Ivy would stop running constantly as that causes more problems in the game although perhaps to add to the challenge of an otherwise simple platformer with a simple story and simple goals to reach as you progress. It's a quick play and it's a nice game but it can quickly become frustrating as well which is why I can only give it an 8. If Ivy didn't run constantly and if you didn't have to use the stupid wii-mote (versus making the classic controller available or something) pointing at the stupid screen, it would have gotten at least a 9. There isn't much to complain about anyways and again, it'd be a great choice for a child to play...
I really enjoyed this game. Unlike many RPGs that have come out in recent years this one is challenging.... comparable to final fantasy 1 challenging. Everything was hand drawn which was nice as you travel through the 2.5 D world. The music is wonderful and the story is fairly simple as it's told. Granted, it is a little slow to get told due to the challenges you have to do (finding particular things) which does take a good while but it's still fun and the goals as a whole are still clear as you travel, level up, and get more team members to work with. The complaints I have are few and minor. First off, you can only have 2 party members out in a fight (which makes things fairly difficult). Secondly, the main character (Aurora) in battle is pretty much useless and thirdly, there's this "interrupting" **** that can happen as you cast your attack and it makes you wait to cast again. That's it really.... Enjoy~
This was an okay game I guess. The idea looked interesting and the story, when presented, sounded wonderful and like something I'd definitely want to play and would be interested in. So, just to be sure, I got the demo and I'm glad I did. Despite how wonderful the game sounded the camera movement was disorienting and confusing, not intuitive at all and the actual character movement was just as bad. I will grant it the graphics were decent (nothing compared to Journey as everyone says, I'd much rather look and listen to Journey) but the music was completely forgettable and what can be remembered is only how bad it was. To be perfectly honest, the game play is slow and gets boring rather quickly. There is only so much ink you can splatter around before you're just bored and things get sort of frustrating because if you don't splatter it with ink you can't see it... and that's just sort of lame. BUT that's the whole game it seems... there are worse games because this is at least bearable but it's still just.... boring.... really boring...
Really fun multiplayer **** course, it's Mario Kart, that's sort of expected. However, although I love Mario Kart (despite the fact I can't drive for garbage) I do have some problems with it that are minor but they are annoyances. For example, the computers get TONS of "POW"s, blue shells, and are surprisingly accurate with green shells. Their AI is annoying especially when racing on teams because they still push each other and the human player ends up dragging the rest of the computer team. Banana peels and boxes are not nearly as effective as they used to be and there's this new lightning cloud thing that should not be there at all as it's not helpful for the player, it's just devastating... Still, these are all minor things. Most of the tracks are good. The controls are good, music is what I expect in a Mario Kart... it's all there and it's still fun. I'd just recommend trying to get more human players so there are less stupid computers at least when you play team racing. Good game, lots of fun.
Really fun game! The graphics are wonderful, the story is clear and is a true hail to the SNES classics and even the N64 Kirby but better. It's fun not only as a single player but as a multiplayer game where in addition to having the choice to be a different colored Kirby, you can also be DeDeDe, a Waddledee, or Metaknight. They even brought back the parasol and you can get "Super" powers (regular ones but bigger/better) in addition to new ones and all in all.... it's **** Kirby. It plays like a classic Kirby game, feels like one, and is a great adventure. Must have for the Wii
I did not like this game. I LOVE Kingdom Hearts 1, I even really like Kingdom Hearts II quite a bit but I did not care enough about Roxas to have an entire game about him. Of course, when I figured out this game WAS about him I was thoroughly disappointed and very much annoyed. I honestly didn't care about Roxas... at all much less enough to make a whole game about him. The controls were awkward and I just.... didn't care AT ALL about the story nor did I get a reason to throughout the game. It's just bleh. The graphics are up to par and so is the music but neither of those saving graces are good enough to make the game worthwhile...
Right up there with Flower, this is one of my favorite PS3 games out there. There are no words but the story is told through fantastic visuals and wonderful music that pulls at the heartstrings. You go through your character's life passage and (should you play online) their intersections with others as you grow and learn and change. You wake up in the beginning alone and surrounded by miles of burning, sprawling desert, and soon discover the looming mountain top which is your goal. Ahead of you there are endless sand dunes, ancient ruins, caves and howling winds, and eventually the stinging cold and snow. Your passage will not be an easy one. And although the goal is to get to the mountaintop, you have almost infinite room to explore and wander the endless beauty of the desert either alone or with a stranger you meet along the way as you soar above ruins and glide across sands while discovering the secrets of a forgotten civilization through murals and sit downs with statues that show you their story and how you fit in....your purpose, who you are. Each player may take something different from the game but I felt it told the story of life and it has wonderful replay value as not only can you get different trophies you'll continuously find new things and eventually get the white robe to don yourself. This also makes good use of the 6-axis control on the PS3 remote and continues to be a breathtaking experience each time I play. GREAT game...
I don't think this game is meant to play for the actual story or game itself... I mean, I guess doing the actual skateboarding stuff is cool and all but the real fun is doing "Hall of Meat" and jumping off cliffs and buildings trying to break EVERYTHING and doing the **** some ridiculous motion while spinning until you hit the ground. It's really fun, especially if you switch off with multiple people so you can all have a good laugh.
So, my fiancee are moving to a different place and I wanted to get him a gift for when we got there so that he'd feel maybe a little more comfortable about everything. Of course, his favorite games are Sonic games so I went to research...looking for a game he didn't have (which is hard to come by) but since he only just got a wii (because I've had a wii and we're just moving in together and I'm taking my wii) I got him this game because it was apparently a hidden gem of Sonic games. I ended up giving it to him early and it's turned out to be his favorite Sonic game yet. Not only does it give you the speed you want in a Sonic game it provides a beautiful atmosphere and interesting stages, a solid storyline and goals/objectives but it also has a rockin' sound track. The controls are good and the classic wii remote is allowed (which he likes since he doesn't like the wii-mote). There are a lot of good things to say about this game and it's one of the best sonic games to have come out in years~ Awesome game and I'm glad he loves his gift. It's a must have for any Sonic lovers out there.
I was curious about this game, the story sounded like it could have potential so I picked it up and good god I regretted it. It was supposed to be all hand drawn so I hoped for something that would be just gorgeous but apparently they meant only the characters were drawn and everything else was made on the PS1. When you FINALLY get to the playing part, your character looks like a paper pasted onto the background moving around. However, as I've said in previous reviews I don't base my entire liking **** on how it looks. So.... here are the problems: The worst part of the game though is infact and sadly, the story and the characters in it. There was hope for it, I tried to like it but I just couldn't.... I had high hopes for this and it was a huge let down. There's so much talking during the exposition most of which dosn't even matter or add to the story you just get tired of listening to them or reading what they're saying and you just want to skip through it all because it doesn't even matter in regards to what you need to do. There is TOO much exposition puked out at you as an attempt to try and get you involved or make the story original... which it is only barely. The spewed exposition vomit makes all of the following story-line feel choppy and uninspired which gives you little reason to continue on so by this point you're basically just annoyed with the game and probably feeling tormented since you've yet to play at all. (My fiancee only made it through 15 minutes before wanting to shoot himself). However, if you finally manage to get through the opening scene(s) the beginning is slow and pointless in relation to your overall quest. It tries to make sense of time but with how blatently obvious your character is about having gone back in time the other people in the world must be mentally **** not to figure it out. In addition, the story seems to get rehashed and you get reminded constantly of your main goal (as if you don't know already, or maybe you're dumb too!). The controls themselves aren't bad when you move around or fight but the music is generally obnoxious and in addition to the character voices you should basically play the game with everything muted. However there are still bugs in the controls like.... a pause button. This includes in cutscenes where the dialogue advances automatically whether you've read it or not. There is absolutely no reason for this since animations of the characters consists of a few awkward scenes repeated over and over. Also... skipping any line of dialogue will cause the characters to start flying across the screen, glitching in and out of different animations (crossing arms, legs, whatever) while you're stuck trying to remember where they were supposed to be placed. This sort of thing makes you wonder if the game was ever tested at all since it's an easy fix. The voices lack emotion and seem even a bit forced as they attempt to not be bland and uninteresting. The voice actors must have been horribly uninspired by the script as well, japanese and english alike because as far as the content of what is being said.... I'd rather listen to a group of stereotypical dumb-blonde valley girls....they're probably more interesting and possibly smarter. These people have also apparently never heard of lip synching (I read lips a bit so it's particularly annoying to me). The side characters are annoying in all respects with how they treat your characters to how they speak/act in general (ex: calling Zack (main character) a scumbag for wanting to kiss his fiance before the wedding). The main characters are very unoriginal as the male Zack is your typical perverted, stupid, hot-blooded, wants-to-see-the-females-naked kind of guy and the two females Toki and Towa are also very stereotypical. Toki is the happy, positive hopeful girl and Towa is the tough angry girl. The animation is choppy and irritating ESPECIALLY with how much talking seems to be involved with the game as they fidget around from one awkward position into the next and repeat such in an endless cycle of unnecessary ugly clunky-ness. A big draw to this game is the "HD animation" I'm sure as I had hoped it would look nice as well but it's a lie.... screen shots, being still might be fine but when you're actually moving or playing, like I said earlier, the PS1 had better quality in the actual animations and graphics of its games. The animations repetitive and unnecessary, choppy, derpy and distracting (thank god--I'd rather look at their awkward movements than listen to them talk FOREVER). The graphics are blurry and undetailed even on HD so it's kinda worthless in the 'pretty' department which was potentially the main draw. Overall, there is absolutely no reason to get this game.... not to rent, not to borrow from someone, and not to buy. It's a complete travesty in gaming in all senses....every aspect is a mess and there are ZERO redeeming qualities
It looked really interesting and had a lot of potential with the story it was going for but the graphics were outdated even for its time, the main character was horribly proportioned and apparently **** as well. Although I don't base how much I like a game off of how it looks or how the characters look, the main reason I didn't like this game was that the main objectives were not **** ALL. There is no direction on what you need to do or where you need to go and although that may be fine if you've played the game before and don't need it but as a first time player it's very off putting. Likewise, due to this I didn't get very far before getting SUPER frustrated. I hate using guides/cheats to play my games but it was the only way I could figure out how to complete the first area. I'm a girl who plays lots of puzzle games and platforming games so I'm typically good at figuring things out on my own but.... geezus, this game had ZERO direction or clues so I spent my time that I had basically wandering around not sure what to do. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless I want them to pull their hair out in frustration.
Much improved from the last GBA release (Season of Ice) not only in the stages themselves (all of them are fairly enjoyable as opposed to being hit or miss) but the flying has improved so the platforming isn't as hard. The graphics are also better and more colorful, the music is still nice and fitting to the area. The gameplay is still challenging and the controls are still intuitive (as they usually are). There's a lot of challenges that are take it or leave it to continue on so you can do as much as you feel.... but the deeper you go (I'm anal and have to 100% it like a freak) the more challenging the side quests become which I like despite the fact some of the side quests are taxing and repetitive.... (eg. chasing/catching leprechauns)
Although this played very much like a typical spyro game and had your typical arsenal of spyro abilities, the levels were really hit or miss with me. Some of them were really fun and just the right amount of challenging while others I just didn't like or didn't care about or the quests simply became too frustrating for me to enjoy. The music is good and the graphics are good, Overall I still really like the game....there are just some parts I don't particularly care for. Still, for a GBA game, I like the things they added in (moving levels, different themes, different creatures and actually helping the fairies) and it's still a good game worth the play.
I have played most spyro games and although this one didn't have the little portals or whatever to go different places, I actually really liked it. It had a different feel, the music and environment was engaging, there were even a lot of repeat characters from the older games (some of the elders (eg Thomas, Red), Emerald, Nanny, the fairies, Moneybags (of ****), Hunter, Bianca, etc) which made it sort of fun for those who have played the older ones. At the same time you get introduced to new characters as well and even learn a bit more about the older ones. There are the typical quests like fetching things or collecting things, defeating enemies but in addition to your typical arsenal of attacks, you get to further your abilities by learning from the elders... not only breath, jumps, and ram attacks but you get to learn magic to teleport and dragon kata. The bosses are challenging and make you use your new skills and you get to explore basically two worlds in one. It seems to be a game you either like or don't with not much in between but I thought it was a good more connected feeling game than some of the other spyros in the series. Not to mention, Ripto isn't the main boss finally!
I have played all of the Zelda games, even the newer ones and I have to say that this one is my absolute favorite. Not only is it an excellent sequel to an already excellent game, it's a darker note in the series that sort of gives it a different edge than a normal Zelda game. Not only is the story good but the temples are well thought out although they are few. There are many optional side quests to allow you to get all the masks and you are most certainly rewarded for all of your hard work at the end and likewise all of the puzzles and mini games and side quests are fun and well worth the time. The game is challenging as all good Zelda games should be but this one has challenges that not only increase difficulty but make the game feel a bit more dark compared to OoT. The graphics and music (as always) and the game has great replay value. Be careful trying to use the guide, I know there are some mistakes in it (I've heard horror stories particularly with the water temple) so I would personally avoid it or at least be careful with your songs. Overall, as I mentioned, this is my favorite Zelda game in the series and I can't say enough good things about **** only thing that can really be critiqued is the 3 day time reset gets a bit annoying but it IS what allows you to do ALL of the quests.
