I’m not the biggest fan of platformers, but I tried to like this game. However, you often run through lots of screens without anything happening. You just hold down an arrow key. There are no exciting jumps or enemies to defeat. Then suddenly there’s a difficult jumping section, you fall down, and have to run through the last 15 screens again. If that doesn’t bother you, you’ll probably enjoy exploring, but it’s just not for me.
Unfortunately, I can only rate the current situation: there is one server with a very high ping here in Germany (>250) and a handful of toxic players who are far too good for newcomers.
An idle clicker with pay-to-win mechanics. This means very slow progress, mindless repetition, and almost no gameplay. You just watch numbers that keep getting bigger and bigger.
Good, exciting story and cool turn-based combat. Personally, there’s a bit too much reading for my taste, and the German translation could definitely be better in some parts.
Very creepy, atmospheric and exciting game that still works very well even after such a long time. For my taste, there could be a few more inventory slots. :-)
I've now played through it for the first time and remember trying the game 1-2 years after release, but thought my copy was broken because the mouse didn't work in the game. Today I know: there is no mouse support! But that's not all: very complicated controls, lots of backtracking, boring fetch and bring quests, difficult battles with multiple enemies, some catastrophic design decisions (e.g. a tower you can teleport into but can't leave without detours) and some bugs.I understand that you can like it from a nostalgic point of view and it can certainly still find some new fans today, but for me playing through it was more work than play and therefore not a recommendation.
I have not found out where I can catch fish to avoid starvation. Also, there are absolutely no sound effects - you float through the dark, collect resources and at some point starve to death. The game just isn't programmed properly.
A very unique game - in story and gameplay. The story is very good and you want to find out what it's all about and what happens next. However, the game is difficult, sometimes unclear and lengthy - something simpler and shorter would have been good for it. Without a walkthrough, I probably wouldn't have played it to the end. Nevertheless, you should give it a try.
This is the digital version of the board game and that is noticeable. Alone against the AI, it is too simple and repetitive. What's more, you can be very unlucky with the cards you pick at the beginning and then have almost no chance of winning. Not recommended for me as a single player. But certainly worth playing with a few friends.
From today's perspective, only partially recommendable. Many levels are very confusing and the switching puzzles are unclear. For example, you stand in front of a switch in a tower, press it and have no idea what it does. You then go back, make your way through countless corridors that all look the same, only to find out that a door has opened in the basement. Sometimes, but not always, you can even press the switches twice and accidentally close the door in the basement again - without noticing. It took me 10.7 hours to play through the game - of which I easily spent 3-4 hours running around without a plan and without orientation, looking for where to go next - sometimes very frustrating. It's a good thing that there are lets plays these days, otherwise I would probably have given up just before the end because I couldn't get any further.
I also played through DOOM II this week and although it's 4 years older, it was much more enjoyable to play, especially because the levels were clearer and you have an overview map. If Unreal also had an overview map, it would be a clear recommendation.
An incredibly charming and funny point and click adventure that managed to take me back to my childhood. To a time when everything was a great adventure full of fantasy. So beautiful. Simply a good-feeling game that I really want to recommend to everyone.
Easy puzzles, poor presentation, strange controls, very short and with frustration potential: One of the required boxes is at the bottom, furthest end of the map in a very dark corner - I spent over 20 minutes puzzling around until I figured out that I was doing everything right and just overlooked the box...
Quite a nice platformer with very good gunplay. Some level sections are very unfair - especially when you are thrown down out of nowhere by an enemy, land in the damage-generating water and you can't get out immediately - you quickly lose half your life without being able to do anything about it. The dark level sections in the Pixelverse are also very annoying. Nevertheless, a recommendation, especially for fans of the genre.
Great game with very good gameplay - especially later on with more stamina, the grappling hook and some good weapons! After the main game I can highly recommend the DLC The Following - completely new, open area with a new story and the best thing: you can rampage through whole hordes of zombies with the buggy - it just never gets boring! ;-)
I would have easily given the game a 8/10, but the publisher thought it was a good idea to advertise the two sequels before each game launch. Yes, you have to click away two adverts before every game start! Like: "Oh, you want to play Dying Light? Nice to meet you! But wouldn't you rather buy Dying Light 2? That's better anyway. No, you don't want to? Then how about Dying Light: The Beast? It hasn't been released yet and will probably have a lot of bugs at launch, but you can buy it now!’
From today's perspective: Terrible controls and difficult terrain. You do have enemies, but the many hills together with the poor controls are the real enemies. It seems to be just an arena in which you have to collect coloured containers. There is no map, so you have to fight your way through the terrain. I had the feeling that I had seen everything after 5 minutes. No recommendation from me.
I really enjoyed it at the beginning. The many small Estereggs in particular give the game a nice charm. Unfortunately, at some point it becomes very repetitive when you have to train, work and sleep for a long time, only to have a lot of bad luck in the next battle and it all starts all over again. Nevertheless, I can recommend the game.
A romantic thriller in which the protagonists sing like in a musical? I never thought I'd like it, but the game is so charming, exciting, emotional and full of twists and turns that you simply have to like it! An absolute recommendation from me!
A good rogue-like that can be a lot of fun if you're lucky with the items. I don't understand the bad reviews because of the difficult start - the game mechanics are relatively simple, easy to understand and after a few attempts you can get very far.
A masterpiece that everyone should have played.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Gnome Chompski good luck on his new adventures. Maybe I'll see you soon in Half-Life: Alyx ;-)
When starting a single player match, it gets stuck in the loading screen. I have tried all settings and maps. After a short research I found out that the game was in Early Access, but was rarely sold and development was then discontinued. The “final version” here is actually just the canceled Early Access version.
