The Council8

I loved this game and it's a shame the lack of budget limits so much this kind of games because the mistery/adventure genre without combat doesn't sell anymore. Two of the most refreshing games I've played lately are The Council and Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter. Both games are very immersive and full of good ideas but share the same tech and budget limitations. Apparently the big publishers of the gaming industry are too busy funding the same games over and over again to invest in developers trying to bring well written, intelligent, story driven adventures. So much wasted potential.

Ghost of Tsushima9
Jul 18, 2020
Putting aside the virtues of Ghost of Tsushima everybody recognizes, this game story and characters are way better than advertised and, most importantly, it's a BLAST to play. Also, I don't get why some critics deduct points because it doesn't innovate in the open world genre. First of all, some of my favorite games are titles that perfected well known formulas. But secondly, Ghost of Tsushima exudes personality from the clean HUD, the organic traversal and exploration systems, activities you can do in the world, combat variety, etc. Do yourself a favor and play it.

Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter7
Feb 10, 2020
This game is very hard to score. Some things it does perfect, like world building and specially the investigation systems (the menu where you connect your thoughts is amazing). Cases are fine. Graphics are pretty. But the lack of budget shows in animations, loading screens, ugly transitions, occasional frame drops and bugs (this game froze on me one single time but I could tell I was lucky). Then there are some design decisions tough to swallow, like the fact every zone of the game is disconnected from the rest of the game so you are forced to fast travel everywhere. Too much reliance on quick time events during the action set pieces. Or some dungeon puzzles that don't belong to a Sherlock Holmes game but a Tomb Raider one, smelling like a trick to artificially lenghtening the playing time. To make things worst, this specific puzzles are either painfully easy or trial and error pattern puzzles. No deduction or intelligence needed, just a lot of deaths. Playing as Sherlock Holmes this rubbed me the wrong way. All in all I enjoyed playing this game but it had potential to be so much more. I wonder what could have been done with more time and budget. It's full of good ideas poorly developed. Also, as a bonus, it's an easy peasy platinum trophy if you are hunting for those.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare8
Oct 27, 2019
Russians are review bombing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare because they feel the campaign story is offensive to their country. I don't agree, but i'm not russian. In fact, I could write for very long about US fiction wrongfully depicting other countries but I won't because I don't take them seriously. Then again, if you're not russian yourself, and you like gritty and realistic FPS games with prodigious sound design, amazing graphics, smooth gameplay and a cool 5 to 6 hours solo campaign, this game is a very good option. Look for other reviews if you are interested in the multiplayer online modes. I'm not into them.

Observation8

Cool little science fiction game. Observation's concept is awesome, very well thought and (if not original) refreshing. Graphics are not top notch but the game looks pretty and has a very strong personality. Music, sound effects and voice acting are superb. In terms of gameplay (the aspect most people will complain about) it serves very well the story and stands in a middle ground between games like Firewatch and Portal. I think the gaming industry needs a lot more of little/medium games like Observation providing variety.

The Golf Club 23
Feb 28, 2019
The worst invested 12€ of my life. Strokes outside the tee are utterly unpredictable. Putting is outrageous. I've been playing golf videogames since the 1980's because they are chill and relaxing and this is the most infuriating one i've ever tried. But there's more... The HUD of the game doesn't properly fit in my TV screen and can't be modified in the configuration options (brace yourself OCD). Loading screens are too long (and annoying). Subpar graphics and customization. You can't even take a look at locked equipment items before unlocking them with in-game currency. Game modes are sparse and uninspired. There's no progression system at all. I'm mad at myself for thowing my money away in The Golf Club 2. Never again, Maximum Games. Never again.

EA Sports UFC 23
Aug 8, 2018
The game is garbage, like every other EA game. I bought it for 20€ at the PS Store knowing it has its deffects, but everyone said it was better than UFC 3 and I thought it would be a bargain. I should have known better. As a UFC fan that never has played an MMA videogame I thought it would be fun enough to create a fighter, play the career mode (although i've read it's a repetitive mode and somewhat empty) and enjoy it for the rest of the summer. But no. It's an EA Sports game. The gameplay against the AI is a disaster. Every fighter does exactly the same, go for the takedown and try to submit you. At the same time, it's almost impossible to knock down the opponent standing, no matter how many strikes you deliver, so every fight ends with a ground and pound KO/TKO or a submission. Every fight, This is unavoidable. Not even in the easyest of difficulties changes one bit. In short, I give the game a 3 because the graphics, commentary and envirnonment are fine, but the offline gameplay is broken, the career mode is boring and super repetitive after 10 fights, customization options are lame and you can't really have your own fighting style and win. I already regret spending a third of the originial price on it. I hope I've finally learned my lesson and this is the last EA game I fall for.
