I found this game in my closet recently. Neither do I have any nostalgia for the game, nor have I EVER interacted with the franchise at all. So, for the first time ever, I booted the game up and was immediately greeted by the great soundtrack. That was probably the highlight of my experience. After getting to know some of the basic controls, I could fly around in the open world, train my dragon, and compete in tournaments. The controls are a bit weird, but you will get used to it. This is where the fun ends. There is little to no reason to fly around in the open world, except for some collectibles. These serve absolutely no purpose! You might find yourself flying through the rather boring world in between missions, however you can still quick-travel, so even that is fully avoidable. This is where the game falls apart. The missions are always the same. The races are terrible. The items (the game does not teach you how to use them) feel random and are pretty much unavoidable, even though you can TECHNICALLY parry them. You will find yourself randomly sinking or falling off your dragon. It’s fun! Every race feels the same, and they drag on for way too long, creating a very frustrating experience. There is no story to tie everything together. You just race for fun, I suppose. On top of all. You can ONLY use the Wii U gamepad, even though it is not required 90% of the time. I can now move on from the guilt of owning a game that I have never played.
This game somehow brings the switch to its limits, even though it should be able to run on an ipod touch. The game is somehow so unstable that its basically unplayable if you have too many objects on screen which is especially a problem in the levels where you actually have to control your character. Optimization doesnt exist here. Combine that with boring level design with little variety and a physics engine that doesnt feel right makes up for a incredibly mid game
This is how a platformer should be. Incredible level design with great idea and stunning attention to the details in the world. Donkey Kongs moveset is weird and clunky at first but is so fun when you discover all mechanics and know how and when to use dixie / diddy and cranky. Dixie works best most of the time though. What they could‘ve experimented more with would be the animal buddies. (play it on switch there is no reason to get it on wii u)
great games but why? - Why was it limited to about a year? - Why is there no widescreen for Mario 64? - Why is Mario 64 basically untouched? - Why is Sunshine almost a full remaster while the others are just ports? - Why is Galaxy 2 missing? - Why is there basically no bonus content and just 3 games on a card? - Why didnt they give us save states? Play this if you havent experienced the games before but if you did, stay away.
The existence of this game is questionable. Multiplayer is somewhat stable. They learned from the Octo-Expansion and made the campaign better but its still not as good as the DLC. Don‘t really like the new weapon types and i find the way you get new weapons too complicated. The coin system was better.
After being burned out by the horrible online experience Nintendo presented us in Splatoon 2, i decided to buy the DLC and play through a „better“ campaign. And yes. It really is better. In fact i absolutely love it. It fixes everything wrong with the base game and executes it better than ever. Challenge based levels, more level types, with an easy, medium and hard mode for almost every level. Skill ceiling is very high. Some stations are insanely difficult while some are extremely fun. Great addition to an already good game
Perfect example of Nintendos horrible online servers. Fun fact: they dont exist! This game uses P2P for online multiplayer which is horrible because the entire game dies if someone loses connection. I do like the new weapon types and the campaign is pretty fun but boring sometimes.
Playing this game changed my view on humanity… I have never experienced something like the deep lore of garfield kart on the 3DS. Compared to the other racing games on the market, garfield Kart has a better story and better gameplay than in every other game. The weird cutscenes contained a lot of nudity but compliment the ironic note in the story, which critisizes the idea of communism and spreads nationalism in the universe of garfield. I have played this game for hundreds of hours now and i dont regret a second. I have cried countless times during the brutal death of Jon by Stalin himself but i would play through this game again if i could… jokes aside this game ****. just buy mario kart 7 - game lags to death - controls dont work - locations are unmemorable - i dont want to hear the same 20 second jingle during the entire game
This is literally the best 2d platformer i have ever played. The game is very short and extremely hard, since it is a direct remaster of an NES game. You can feel that in the slow pacing and weird controls. The soundtrack is amazing. A must-have Wii U game imo.
In contrast to New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, this game is a perfect example on how to port a old game to newer hardware. The gameplay of 3D World is much faster now and the movement feels more fluent than on the Wii U. The leveldesign sadly follows the formula of 3D Land which makes the levels play like 2D, which makes it hard to stick out. Bowsers Fury is a great addition. It definitely fits the 3D World vibe, while still being unique in its own way. We never had a open world 3D Mario before and this side mode builds up hype for the next big Mario game
I have a weird love for this game. Licensed video games have a bad reputation for being a cashgrab using familiar faces from tv shows. The original was a great 3D platformer featuring locations from the Spongebob tv show. In this remake, you will find a multiplayer mode (a bad one) and updated graphics. It doesnt feel like a game from the PS2 era, it aged really well.
This is one of my most played video games ever and i do not regret the time i‘ve put into this game. Beating constantly harder levels to challenge yourself is very addicting and the joy when you finally complete a course after thousands of attempts is amazing. The level editor is too complex for me but it is really fun to mess around with. Negative points for the countless bugs. I call the money well spent.
Can‘t understand the low score compared to the original. It is just a widescreen port released for Xbox Live Arcade with QOL improvements. Yeah the camera still **** but this game released in 1998
Don’t get me wrong here, this is my favorite racing game of all time, but i cant resist to say that some parts of it are kind of sketchy. - Removing cars from older games to sell them as dlc or as „new“ content - Stupid Race AI - Broken Balancing there are more things i dislike about this than mentioned here. E.g the storyline is cringe and pretty boring. If you want to get the most fun out of this, then just randomly drive around and enjoy the beautiful landscape showcasing the power of the new hardware
EVEN MORE of the same stuff. We reached a point where its getting really boring now. It is still really fun to play but its so repetitive. Bonus points for multiplayer options and challenge mode. Underwhelming launch title for the Wii U.
More of the same stuff with the addition of the game being way to easy due to the massive ammount of coins (its not worth it to collect them all). DLC exists which ironically contains the hardest 2D Mario levels ever.
Perfect DS-Game and probably the best of the New Super Mario Bros. series. It has unique bosses and a diverse level design. It captures the feeling of the classic games while staying „new“
One of the games i used to love but it kinda **** now. Its too boring and way too short to deserve a higher score. They tried to hard here to throw as many gimmicks in as possible but that also ruined it
Literally just got this for 7 bucks. I just wanted to play Banjo-Kazooie and got this bundle cause it was cheaper than buying the XBLA version. I got a bit distracted by the other games and now i‘m seeing myself playing these classic games all the time. Literally the best deal ever
Outstanding game that does’nt play it „safe“. The storyline is really stupid but in a good way. The characters are fun to interact with and have unique personalities. The soundtrack bangs (as always). Can’t really give this a 10 because this is a really hard game (mostly due to the horrible controls). Even entering the cheat code for the „very easy“ mode did basically nothing.
Does a lot of things right on the gameplay side while still having the charm of the classic SpongeBob episodes. Lacking a bit of fan service though and im not really a fan of the level based approach here. Still a great game!
Like Wii Sports and Nintendo Land, this is a launch title for the new Nintendo system, introducing you to the new controller. It is a mini game collection that is fun for the entire family. Unlike the Wii Sports and Nintendo Land, this game does NOT come with the console. You have to buy it separately. It is not worth the money. The game doesnt have enough content and gets boring quickly.
Sonic Generations truly is a „Best of 20 years Sonic the Hedgehog“. With 18 levels and 90 challenges in both 2d and 3d, this game gives enough content, thats replayable enough to justify the 20 bucks pricetag. You will find it on sale regularly, so please give it a shot
If you like 2D Platformers and did not play this on the Wii U, please buy this. It is a great 2D Mario game that’s fun to play solo or with friends. However, the core game suffers from unoriginal gameplay. The New Super Mario Bros. series is in the eyes of many gamers a repetitive series that’s basically the same game over and over again. The Switch Port also suffers from the lack of new content. It removes the Boost Mode and adds two easy modes to the main adventure. I wish it had more content that made it more than just a regular Wii U port.
This game is a joke. I cannot decide which gamemode was the most fun, because i had no fun at all playing through this mess ****. The controls are bad and the graphics look like they‘re coming from an Iphone 6. The characters are lifeless and feel out of place. If this wants to be Wii Sports Switch Edition, this fails miserably. Please spend the extra money and get Switch Sports.
