This was one of the absolute best games I have ever played. Just an absolute pleasure to play from start to finish. None of the pay to win loot boxes, no annoying multiplayer. Absolute focus on an amazing story coupled with addicting combat. Can't speak highly enough of God of War.

Horizon Zero Dawn9
May 5, 2017
Arguably the best video game I've played in years. I genuinely never thought I was a person who got too hung up about graphics, but they they're this good it just blows your mind. I stopped and stared in awe many times looking at the dynamic and beautiful world. The story is incredibly too. At first, I wasn't too sure on it but as I played it more the story naturally developed and left me craving for knowledge of what's going on. I felt like there could of been more side quests, but the side quests there were are just as good as the main missions. They were all well thought out and clearly given as much effort as the main quest in the game. Combat is a dream. You truly feel like you're being hunted and are vunerable. Tactically trying to take down huge, animalistic robots was completely thrilling and moreish. This certainly ISN'T a point and spray game. You have to think about the best way to take down your foes as even the smallest of enemies can kill you if you don't approach them in the correct fashion. Overall, a fantastic game.

Mass Effect: Andromeda8
May 5, 2017
Despite what people said, I decided to take a risk on getting this game and over all, I'm glad I did. Is it the best Mass Effect title? No. That has to go to Mass Effect 2. But it is an exciting, entertaining game that I had many late nights playing till gone 2 in the morning. The combat is insanely satisfying. The upgrade tree, class selection and weapons all come together to allow you to tailor it to your style. Jaal and Drack were the stand out characters in terms of depth, the rest were good but felt pushed to the way side. Glitches and dialog are really what let this game down. It turned from the ultimate space nerds dream to a bit more of a bro shooter. The dialog at times is really awful and cringey. Glitches were also a problem, one such glitch was so bad I had to turn my PS4 off just to get out of it. It also glitched on the end level which set me back hours. However this wasn't a huge problem as I enjoyed the combat, which really held the game up. 75 hours of gameplay later, and I certainly feel like I got my moneys worth.

No Man's Sky3
Aug 11, 2016
No Man's Sky really a different type of game. It's the anti-establishment sort of game which doesn't follow the norms and did its own thing. That's why I hate the fact I find it utterly boring. It's a cool game, the fact that a small team created this is incredible and I think everyone is in amazement of the sheer size and scale of the game. But unfortunately it comes down to the simple fact that the game gets very boring, one dimensional and repetitive. Borderline frustrating at times. No quests, no set out character, no interesting aliens, nothing that keeps the game interesting. When you enter a new planet, the initial thrill of seeing what it looks and its composition dies off soon when you realize that every planet really is a dead planet. There isn't anything particularly specific to do except discover some animals, which gets old very fast. Yes, they have different things to mine but unless you want to stand there and fire a laser beam at rocks for 2 hours, it really isn't interesting. The complete lack of direction doesn't help, what am I doing? Why am I doing it? Give me some motivation to keep playing it. It may be harsh but this is really a glorified indie arcade game that shouldn't cost anymore than £20.

Guitar Hero Live1
Dec 26, 2015
So here's a good idea... Lets make an incredibly expensive guitar hero game that completely ignores out target demographic of rock/metal fans and instead caters towards pop and indie fans. Lets make the Live mode only 2 hours long so you're forced to play the TV mode that makes you spend actual money on micro transactions to play the very few actual good songs on the game. Awful from Activision, truly a money hungry evil corporation.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt9
Jul 28, 2015
Just a superb game. After playing countless titles lately that you just feel as soon as you pick them up are simply made for making as much money as possible (Ubisoft - EA), it's so refreshing to pick up a game in which so much care and effort has gone in to it. The gameplay is so well rounded, it constantly keeps you busy with a series of incredibly rewarding and interesting quests. One bad thing I did experience though was far too much padding out of quests, which is frustrating if you don't have much time to waste... However a game you could play all day and still want to play it more afterwards. As I didn't play the other Witchers, I didn't know what to expect... But I'm so glad I payed money for this now. Easily 2015 game of the year

Just more of the same, which isn't always a bad thing, but there's absolutely nothing fundamentally different from Tropico 4 to Tropico 5. It's still a great pick up and play game, where you can relax and have fun with it, but I expected more changes then what it offered.

The Order: 18866
Apr 28, 2015
I was hesitant when the reviews came out, I didn't want to accept that a game I've been waiting for so long would be a poorly made, annoying graphical engine over a polished master piece. I just don't understand their thinking, picking up an apple to distract a guard. It forces you to look at the apple for 30 seconds, before allowing you to press RT to throw it... Just not good enough. Some of the stealth bits were unplayable due to poorly made gameplay mechanics. Forcing you to play a game at a very meticulous pace which takes all the momentum and joy out of it. I have to praise it for the character design, original ideas and the story, but the game is just not well made at all.

Dying Light9
Feb 27, 2015
Dying Light has renewed my faith in gaming. After the absolute mess that was 2014, and the awful start of 2015, safe to say I had little expectations for this game. But after playing this game for well over 30 hours, I can say I'm so glad I got this game. It's probably the only game I've spent money on in months that actually felt worth the money. Sure, it takes a while to get going and I really wasn't a huge fan of the main story or the characters. But the addicting game play and side missions all make up for it. Not sure why everyone has been saying this game is too difficult, I'm by no means a talented gamer but I found no problems with it at all and I played all of it single player.

Do game developers live in the real world these days? I have at max, 3 or 4 decent friends who are on my PSN. All of us, go to university, have lives, hobbies, jobs, families etc. When I do eventually get the chance to sit down and play a game for an extended period of time, which isn't often, the chances of all my friends being online at once for a long enough period to play a game like this is absolutely slim to none. This game is so absolutely multiplayer, that you can almost forget the idea of playing alone. Playing with strangers in a game like this just never works out. Soon as I played it, I realised the game was a shell. If you wanted what was inside the shell you'd have to pay money for DLC and microtransactions. How they think they can get away with that is beyond me and unacceptable. Terrible stuff.

Far Cry 46
Jan 31, 2015
tldr - Seems to be another cash in from Ubisoft. Incredibly disappointed with this. It is far too much like Far Cry 3... One of the main things I loved about Far Cry games is that they always innovated and weren't afraid to try new mechanics. This just feels like a massive DLC. Mix in the terrible characters, painfully bad 'radio host' presenter which you're forced to listen to every time you get in a car, and the general lack of ambition, and you have yourself a mediocre video game.

Utterly interesting game with wonderful game play mechanics. When I first picked it up, I wasn't a fan of the idea of being an 18 year old school girl. But the game is so much more then that if you look past it. Play the demo, and buy the game. You won't regret it.

It's impossible not to get absorbed in to this game world... You can really get in to it and see everything this incredible world has to offer. There simply isn't a dull moment to be had in GTA 5. I felt last year that it was a next-gen game on a last-gen console, and the release on PS4 has only confirmed that. The 60 FPS, amazing draw distances and incredible eye of detail make it feel amazing. Easily, easily one of the best games ever.

Another poor, unfinished, lifeless game created and released for profit by Ubisoft. The first problem I have with this game are the inclusion of micro-transactions. If I pay decent money for a game, the LAST thing I expect is micro-transactions, it's unacceptable. I drive around in cars which don't feel good, the best racing games make the car feel alive, like you're actually driving in a Lamborghini or a Ferrari. On this, it feels like an empty box with two wheels. Not to mention you drive around a lifeless terrain, filled with nothingness. I just don't get it, such a poor game, could of been so much better. I'm not buying another Ubisoft game again after this and Watch dogs.

This War of Mine9
Nov 30, 2014
An outstanding example of when video games are done right, they can be an incredibly powerful tool to teach. We all know war is THE most savage and destructive thing that can happen, and this game does such an epic job at conveying that atmosphere of fear and desperation. There's so much the devs can add as well, I can only imagine this getting better with time. Resource management, stealth, tactics and action all come together to make gameplay feel so good. There isn't explosions going off in every direction, there isn't flashy colours or shouting, it's a slow-paced game told at a pace to help tell the story and the characters in it, which I love. I think the most tense I've ever found a game is this, when you're desperate for food, you've gone to a dangerous place to find some meat and you're trying to quietly search a house without the crazy bandits hearing you and killing you. THAT. IS. TENSE. Buy this game, it's an experience.

WWE 2K156
Nov 23, 2014
So much potential, so much promise yet, so far away. Even for a huge wrestling fan like me, this is slightly annoying to play sometimes. The wrestling action is decent enough, yet simplistic and has an over emphasis on reversals. If you reverse a lot, you'll win the match, it's that simple. My career mode is another mode which hasn't delivered much. The 'endless' possibilities thing is false, it throws maybe 3 or 4 different choices through your entire career which simply isn't enough. ShowCase mode is another mode which can be fun, but is often padded out with pointless matches with annoying objectives which just take all the fun out of it. The graphics aren't even that good. It's just a fairly passable wrestling game which wastes a few hours when you play it. Not the next-gen experience we expected.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare8
Nov 9, 2014
I have to admit, I'm usually one to hate Call of Duty games, but this one has hit the nail on the head. The campaign is great, it feels like what Killzone Shadow Fall should of been. Mutliplayer is the best its been in ages and the added gameplay features definitely work in the grander scheme of things. It's not the best game in the world, of course, but it's still a solid game that has bags of life thanks to addicting multiplayer and a stellar campaign. Hate on COD all you want, this one isn't actually half bad.

The game itself is a solid game. The combat is smooth, the stealth is tactical and it all comes together as an enjoyable experience. I just couldn't help but to feel bored near the end of the game... I had been doing the same stuff for 20 hours plus, the game forcing me to kill all the war chiefs before letting me move on was hugely frustrating. Some of the quests you do also felt meticulous and samey. If you're looking for a game to get plenty of hours out then go for it, but I found the novelty soon wore off.

I originally gave this game an 8. But that was before I reached the level cap. Honestly, advice for anyone who's just bought this game... Take your time with it! The none-existent story and campaign mode will flash you by and before you know it you're level 20. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is fun, but when you're shooting things in the face for 5 hours straight, just wave after wave of enemy, it gets very tiresome. They've also put such an emphasis on the dropping and looting system, which is absolutely and fundamentally broken. It just doesn't work. Spending hours just to get a blue or purple drop, only to encrypt it and it give you a strange coin or a green chest piece is a complete waste of time. So many flaws in a game that was supposed to be flawless. Could of been so much more.

Aug 29, 2014
Games like Metro excite me. It doesn't flash in your face every three seconds, there isn't explosions happening at every angle, there isn't a half-hearted attempted at a multiplayer to try and please a certain demographic who only seem to buy games if it has a multiplayer. It's a very well crafted, methodical game told at a pace which emphasizes the world you're in and the characters you meet. Combat is very exciting, stealth feels sleek and it all ties together in a hunter/gathering type system of where you're constantly looking for resources. 2 excellent games for the price of 1, you really can't complain.

Well, this episode was worth the wait. I don't think it was the best episode so far, but that's not an insult by any means. This season 2 so far has been nothing short of perfection and always sets their expectations very very high. Amazingly paced, well thought out action and yet again dialog choices are exactly what you want. If you think you want to say a certain thing, the choices they give you always cover all basis. Sniper Elite III6
Jul 9, 2014
An enjoyable game, but nothing out of the ordinary. In a game called Sniper Elite I often found I used my silenced pistol more than my actual sniper as it was easier. But the moments I did use the sniper were epic. I enjoyed the open mapped levels, giving you a sandbox feel to go and eliminate your enemies how you want. The story and characters are right out of a B grade movie set. The game also struggles to flesh out a bit, yes the Campaign is lengthy but after that, there isn't much more to do. If you were thinking of getting this, wait for it to come down in price.

Jul 9, 2014
The problem with most game reviewers and gamers today, is that if it doesn't explode and flash in your face every three seconds, it's considered sub-par. Long gone are the days of games which were slower paced, more thoughtful and engaging to a different kind of gaming audience. I really liked this game, plain and simple. The story and characters were very good and every mission felt different, keeping it from feeling meticulous. Yes, there are flaws in this game, but not every game can have the production value **** 5. There's a lot to be admired in this game if you look for it. Take your time with it, don't rush it, enjoy it and see where it takes you. Well worth getting.

Call of Duty. A franchise who's only intention is to make themselves as rich as possible and make you as poor as possible. Oh god what happened to this game?! hahaha! I couldn't be more disappointed. Everything about the game is very average, the hacking is unimaginative and bland. What an excellent game. Not by any means perfect, but this game has done something for me what no other game has done for years. When I put down the controller, I wanted to immediately pick it back up and start playing again. The combat system is a dream, mixing steal with action has honestly never been so entertaining. The weapons selection system is a little annoying at times though. An actually very deep story, at times a little whacky, but all in all it delivers and kept me interested throughout. The pacing of the game is also brilliant, never once did it feel samey or like a slug fest. Combat is always varied, unpredictable and most importantly... Fun! 9/10.

Another masterful episode by one of the best story tellers in the world, TellTale Games. From the start it had me emotionally involved, hating some, loving others. It also does a tremendous job of adding the characters from the DLC, but the pay off is great, adding yet another layer of depth to an already incredible game. I honestly don't understand the hype about this game. The online is pretty fun, but after a while the lack of multiplayer choices and options makes it feel meticulous and a bit of a slug fest. The combat itself reminds me of a mixture between call of duty and halo, which is good, but again the lack of variety isn't something I enjoy. Also, the single player? Not every gamer on the planet likes multiplayer only games. Why they couldn't of put more of an effort in to a small campaign which gives you back drop for the story and character development is beyond me. Hopefully they'll improve this game with regular updates.

South Park: The Stick of Truth9
Mar 8, 2014
First and foremost, I'd just mention that this is an excellent game. Absolutely jam packed with content and things to do as you'd expect most RPG's to give you. There's a refreshing twist and tweeks on the tactical, turn based combat but all the changes work very well indeed. So the game at its core is a very good RPG game. But of course the main factor in this game is the fact that it's like one huge episode of South Park. This game has character depth, story, comedy and charm that no other game could possibly deliver. I've honestly never laughed so hard in my life, pausing the game more than once just to get a grip of myself because I was laughing too much! What more could you possibly ask from an investment of money? Brilliant game, recommend to all.
