How the geniuses decided to release this game in its current state is remarkable. Even after bugs were supposedly fixed, this is a terrible game in its current state. Please do not buy this game and reward money grabbers. The game ****. No options, no explanations, nothing that an experienced civ gamer would expect. Turn limits are set and you will like it. The game is an embarrassment. I've tried to like it and have tried several games to warm up to it. It still ****. The biggest disappointment in recent memory. This is not even going into the fact that you can't even choose something as simple as basic options. This is unacceptable. With this release, the franchise is dead to me. Also receiving a terrible score would be metacritic itself. Typing this review has been made so incredibly difficult, I'm done with metacritic too.

Updated review. New update today. Plans for more updates throughout the year. Not an abandoned game. It's GTA but as a cop. Not a billion dollar budget like GTA, but fun with good graphics and realistic vehicles.

I was dumb enough pay for the more expensive version. As others have mentioned, single player campaign requires an internet connection. Take right now for instance. THEY screwed up their own game with their own update 1.07 and now they have shutdown the game for an "extended period" during primetime and have the nerve to ask for our patience! Any game company this stupid and greedy deserves a zero rating. Never again Sony! My plans to get a PS5 are canceled. They owe me at least half of the money I paid for GT7 as far as I see it.

Best looking game ever made. The artistry in this is second to none. A must-buy for any RDR/GTA fan. Unfortunately there are many infuriating negatives that make me turn it off abruptly. I'm around 80% through the story. Pros Graphics details overall production story (both pro and con) Cons SLOW - some lengthy missions are simply cut scenes which annoyingly make you push a button once every 10 minutes to make sure you're awake. Looting and skinning are also SLOW! When given the option of realism or 10 minutes of my life, I'll take the 10 minutes. Story - A clif notes version of the story of 5 or 10 minutes would have been great. I haven't played RDR 1 in 10 damn years! I'm supposed to remember the RDR 1 story line crystal clear? This isn't a 2 hour movie we can re-watch, it's a 100 hour game. Some clue in the story to refresh my memory would have been great and I think I would have enjoyed the story 1000% more if I remembered more than the basics of RDR1. Gameplay - No less than 4 times, I have wasted precious time in my life because of poor programming. How do you think to put in the most minute details in the game, yet fail on missions. After a mission, you want to loot bodies. As mentioned before, it takes a lot of time. Suddenly, without warning, you will be looting your corpses and suddenly your half hour of looting is lost and the mission resets for "abandoning the mission" or whatever **** reason they want to give you. If you don't want me to loot in a mission, then don't let me loot in a mission or at the very least, let us know when we are in danger of losing all progress. This is something even a bad game 20 years ago would offer. Controls - Overly complicated and frustrating. Fun - In GTA, you can just go wild and be a criminal or you can try to be a slightly better person. It's all good. Here, you have to choose one or the other. If I'm trying to be good, maybe I want to be bad for an hour and steal a train and shoot up a town. You can do that. It will cost you hundreds of in-game $$$ but you can do it. I get the feeling I am missing out on so much entertainment due to the ridiculous bounties. This is possibly the worst part of the game, especially early on where a simple accidental horse vs horse collision suddenly gets you murder charges and a $50 dollar bounty (increases significantly with each one you kill). This game seems to want to punish you for enjoying the very best aspects of it. Why would Rock Star want to do such a thing? Conclusion - It's obvious that they put a LOT of effort into this game. I think a year long beta would have helped this tremendously. The end result is the best looking game of all time, with just OK gameplay. I hope you like overly long cut-scenes regarding a story line you will barely be able to remember from 10 years ago. 5/5 and they're lucky to get that.

Reviewing only MY Career. I give the game a 3 instead of a 2 because I'm still playing it, and I might actually get some playing time when I reach level 90 when I can control the roster. Putting a LOT of money in the game already. I'm an 87 and at the rate the idiotic AI coaching is going, I'll be 90 around when 2K99 comes out. Advancement is painfully slow. The next best player on my team is an 81 and I get 4 minutes per game despite my 2nd year contract guaranteeing me at least 6. The unrealistic minutes I'm playing eliminates any realism immersion. PROS - Good graphics, game play can be good when you've spent many many hours building up badges. CONS - Unrealistic coaching decisions. A year ago in-game, all the coaches pleaded with the head coach to let me start. I'm still not starting despite being the best player on the team. My game experience goes like this. Spend 5 minutes waiting on unnecessary cutscenes you can't skip. Play for about four minutes. Go through another 10 minutes of load screens and unskippable cutscenes until I get to the practice facility. Practice. Repeat. It's infuriating! I paid for the game and VC and I can't even play as a starter??? There is no other explanation other than the programmers simply want to troll us and laugh because they took our money. Layups - Any 7th grader that can't make open layups will not make their school team. Should be rare in the NBA but not in 2k. Be prepared for some of the most outrageous BS to ever occur in modern gaming. You've been warned. Unnecessary waiting - Download some phone games or something because you're going to need something to do for several minutes while you have to spend 20 or so unnecessary seconds watching your player sit in a chair only for you to hit X to get on with it already. This is not a loading screen. Just something you have to wait for Every. SIngle. Game. Just a small example of all the waiting you have to do. ONLINE - My Career is a single player function that requires internet connection. Enough said. FU 2k! MONEY - I've enjoyed 2k in the past so decided to spend extra money on it. It really doesn't matter how much money you spend here. The game will keep an elite player on the bench most of the game and progress will take FOREVER! No minutes mean no advancement. It's a cycle that I'm trapped in. Once I can manipulate the roster (which I shouldn't have to) at level 90, I can actually get going. With money and 3 weeks play, I'm level 87. At the current rate, I will be level 90 in about 2 or 3 months real time, all the while getting weak stats due to minutes played. If you don't mind spending a lot of money and putting up with idiotic coaching roster moves and playing the game for months before you see more than a few minutes game time while waiting 10 minutes in various loading and cutscenes, then this game is for you. 2k, you got my money this year and I promise you, based on this experience, it will never happen again. Another company will take your place in a similar way The Show took baseball away from you. You've been doing this a long time and it's unbelievable that you can actually become WORSE at something the more you do it.

Long time Civilization fan and huge space nerd. Both of which are easier for me to figure out than this game. Starts out very fun but I eventually always go broke, even on easy. Maybe I'm just dumb. Never had that problem with Gal Civ 2. It's a shame because other than always going broke, it's a nice concept. Ship building a fun and unique for a large scale strategy game. I just couldn't afford any late game no matter how much I invested in commerce.

Some of my favorite games are GTA, Far Cry, and Fallout. This game is nothing like those despite some comparisons by reviewers. 2 days in and I am bored and ready to wipe the game from my hard drive. Pros - Excellent graphics, hunting is a lot of fun for a day or so Cons - Skill tree small and lacking, also lacking weapon variety, game play becomes extremely repetitive, story, dino-bots are either very under-powered or very over-powered, archaic save system that will have you repeating yourself and wasting a lot of time, map seems large enough, but everything looks the same. Ignore the children rating the game a 10. They've probably never used anything other than 10 or zero. This is an over-rated game that gets old really fast. Wish I bought it from Steam so I could get my $70 back!

They get a 4 rating now, and they're lucky to get that. Releasing games before they're finished should never happen, and when it does, it should never come from a huge gaming company. There is too much info missing to fully understand all of the new rules/benefits of your chosen path, etc. I am often declared war on by my OWN country and then suffer consequences since peace with yourself is impossible. Late game is just boring. Much more so than Civ V. Many other problems that should be patched. This review comes over 3 weeks after release an no updates to speak of, despite so many obvious problems. Nice way to reward their day one fans with this unfinished pile of crap. Big fan since the early 90s. That might change going forward.

This game is not for everyone. For instance, if you're a moron with no imagination that requires their hand held through every moment **** and needs explosions every 4 seconds to hold your attention, then DO NOT get this game. If you like space and exploring, this is a good game for you. It has more of a sandbox feel than most games. I'm not sure why we need to reach the center of the galaxy and I doubt I ever will. That's just not what the game is about to me.

One of my favorite sandbox games of all time. That is the one big PRO I can list for this game. Destruction. Endless fire and destruction. Also, the grapple and parachute gives the player a great feel. Cons - Aiming weapons is terrible except with sniper rifle. WAY too many overpowered SAM sites make the awesome helicopters basically worthless. By the time you can hack them, you don't need to have fun with the helicopter anymore. Don't bother destroying them. They will just respawn. Loading times for side events are ludicrous. You spend a few seconds in the event and wait 5 minutes to try again. Makes me not even want to play the game. The map seems much smaller than JC2. I haven't even played that much, maybe 3 missions in and I've cleared half the map. HATE HATE HATE the flare and beacon situation. It's unclear and irritating as hell. Finally, the gears you earn for upgrades aren't worth much. Almost no motivation to earn more of them because the upgrades ****. I really don't know what they were thinking with that. Solid 6 overall, but as a sandbox I'd give it a 9.

First playthrough - Reached level 46 and was unhappy with my perk choices. Second playthrough - Encountered a gamebreaking glitch at level 26. Third playthrough - Am over the rage of losing many hours of play with the second playthrough and am having a blast. This is also the most stable Fallout by far. In F3 and NV, I had freezing glitches almost daily. Not with this game. Still not happy with the glitch that wasted my time so dropping my score to 8, even though the experience is at least a 9 in my opinion.

I wish we could give partial points because I'd give this a 7.5. I read where this game was a downgrade from Sims 3. Only superficially. After playing enough to upgrade my house, I think I have enough to review the game. This game has many improvements over 3. Many little things like you can control how much you cook much better, for instance. If not for EA to be the Nieman Marcus of video games, I'd give it a 9.5. Pros - Many improvements over The Sims 3. Better graphics, smooth camera movement, switching between build mode and Live mode is almost instantaneous. Many more options when in conversations Cons - Hideously expensive! $40 bucks for 3 extra jobs? Really? Pretty sure they intentionally skimped on the base game to gouge us with DLC. This is not appreciated and this will affect future purchases if you're listening EA! However, The Sims has always been very expensive so any veteran knows what we're getting into by purchasing it. Towns also seem smaller but I'm sure EA will be happy to sell us expansions at a premium. If you have the money, this is a very fun experience and a decent improvement over The Sims 3. I think many people are rating this game based on the The Sims 3 with a dozen expansions and that is not a fair comparison. I understand as I had most of the Sims 3 expansions. So far, I'm glad I made the change.

As far as 20 dollar games go, this is close to a 10. But this game is fun enough to compare to the best of them so I rate it as a premium game. It's a driving game and a sports game melded together. So gratifying to get a last second goal or a dramatic save. If you have the slightest suspicion that you will like this game, you probably will.

Some similarities to Sid Meier's Pirates! Not nearly as deep or fun. Strangely enough, these types of games are extremely addicting to me. The action is hard to come by. So far, it's mainly just steering the ship from town to town, trying to make money to upgrade stuff. I will get my money's worth out of this game. Not everyone will.

I tried liking this. I tried for 68 hours. I don't get this game. What is the point? It's Civ V with different units and tech trees and terrain. And they are not improvements. The alien beasts require a maxed out tech tree and large army to defeat. Not sure why they did this. I ended up going back to Civ V and not looking back. I should not have spent the money on this. The worst thing about it, is that this was time wasted that they could've been working on Civ 6. Everything in this game, Civ V does a lot better.

3rd review of this game and it is finally starting to look like an actual full release. It is still silly to use actual trains and they are still glitchy and impossible to figure out, but the road vehicles and trams are fun. Auto-vehicle replacement makes the game playable and fun. Still can't figure out moving freight beyond the factories and supply areas. Does it go to the city? City to city? I build the lines, but they are not used and I will never know why because the game provides no direction. Still a great sandbox game, but just gets a good score due to the frustrations of the rail and cargo aspects.

It's almost 2015 and the bugs seem to have been resolved. This is a great game, but for some reason, I can't finish it after playing from the beginning 3 times. I get close to finishing, but if I take too much time off from the game, I forget where I am and the immersion is gone. It's also too easy after about mid game. It's a massive game, but most of the terrain is in the same cold mountainous region. I know it's Skyrim, but it's a dreary setting everywhere unlike Oblivion which is more mixed. Despite these minor complaints, Skyrim has a huge world and I'm proof that you could spend years exploring it and still not see it all. If my PS3 still worked, I would look forward to trying yet again from the beginning in a few months.

I had to log in 3 times with different logins only to find out that Steam screwed their customers by allowing Ubisoft to do this. Now Ubisoft has never heard of me despite the fact I have a key. Let this be a message to all the other game companies that try to overreach with DRM and online connection requirements for a single player game. Even without the DRM and server issues, who wants to play simCity with only small maps? Who the hell is making decisions over there? We thought we were getting SimCity and we get farmville for $60. This review was a long time coming. I basically have 3 different reviews based on performance. When I first bought the game, I had technical issues with game performance. I couldn't get DX11 to work and the game played like a 15 year old game on my fairly new desktop. The game was simply unplayable. When the game does work, it's one of the most complex and entertaining games I have ever played. Absolutely outstanding. Very deep and has almost endless replay value. The DLC is abundant and still likely to see some new releases in the future. The game on Steam also has a great modding community. Makes it easy to try out other people's creations. All of the extras are just gravy as the base game is the best strategy game of its kind in the world. Civ V will probably hold this title until Civ 6 comes out in half a decade or so.

I don't give out 10's lightly. This is the most re-playable game I have ever played for any platform. If you're a fan of this genre, you likely already know that this version is the light version of Civilization for the PC. A typical Civilization game can take weeks. The typical Civilization Revolution game takes 3 to 6 hours. Sure it's not nearly as deep as the PC versions, but you can't expect PC depth with a platform game. The game has very few bugs and all of the DLC that is available just make the game that much better. I wish they would sell these mini-civ games for platforms regularly. I don't know how you could create a better express version of a Civilization game. My only complaint is that the toughest of the difficulty options could be tougher.

If World of Warcraft had a WoW Lite version, this one would be the WoW Ultra Lite version. And that is a very good thing. You get the satisfaction of leveling characters and playing with friends, without the lifetime commitment. The way guns are created is genius. In a nutshell, the guns are designed so that you will rarely see the exact same gun twice unless it is a quest reward (even identical quest reward items are different from player to player). Grenades and shields are also like this. Makes for many hours of gear-hunting aside from the tens of hours of story gameplay. The story and side missions are worth the price of the game alone. Several characters to choose from with many different skills available make the game re-playable with each character.
