Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines was the first game I ever played in the series, way too long ago. Replaying it now, I realise how simple it is, even compared to the original, but for a PSP title it’s honestly an impressive achievement. It definitely didn’t age perfectly, yet it was still a blast stepping into Altaïr’s shoes again, arguably the best main character in the series, in arguably the best setting the series ever had.

Other than seeing some of the old actors from prior games, having the title in the intro, and a few scenes with the Curator in the far-away background, the lack of "The Dark Pictures Anthology" in the title feels like more than a marketing move, as many of the features usually associated with the series, from impactful changing relationships, breathing sequences, and head-or-heart choices to lots of pickable items and frames on the walls, are mostly absent, making this feel like its own thing rather than a traditional Dark Pictures entry. It also feels like with every new Supermassive Games title the focus shifts a bit, and while the first three Dark Pictures games had plot twists and mysteries that really pulled me in, this one, despite having its own twists and mystery, never quite reached that same level of intrigue and curiosity about what was actually going on, even for someone who loves the cosmos and space stories so much. Gameplay-wise, the move away from some of the usual Dark Pictures features gives us much more character control, which is good and bad, because there are some really well-done sequences, especially from the scare-factor perspective, but by the halfway point the gameplay loop started to feel a little too familiar and could have benefited from more variety. Graphically and performance-wise it is amazing, that's for sure, because the series has never looked this good, and the game ran really smoothly from day one. I love games of this genre, I love choice-driven games, I love couch co-op experiences, and I love Supermassive Games, so for anyone who shares those interests this is still a game I can recommend, but I feel like Supermassive Games must higher their output because it goes only down and down, and they must separate The Dark Pictures games from their other games, letting the Dark Pictures have their own style and not imbue them with the styles of their other titles.

Before anything, if you are interested in following my playthrough, here is my so-called seed code: 5722-9174, use it so your Tidewalker comes after mine and see what I "left behind". This game starts slow, and for a time I thought that is how the whole experience was going to be story-wise, but gladly it is not, because I love great stories and that is a must for a game to be good for me, and this one does not disappoint. This is a narrative game with a unique mechanic/feature, and it really is interesting to play after another person has played before you, because depending on their actions the world around you might be one way or another, with almost anything possibly affected. Although both visual and gameplay-wise it is nothing to mindblowing, what it does, it does really well, especially when it comes to choice-making and affecting the story and the world, through your actions. The best thing is the way you interact with everything around you, especially knowing you might be changing something for the next player coming after you, and adding to everything the really good OST, makes this a really great experience.

A big joy to play from beginning to end. The story, voice acting, characters, and especially the gameplay are all fantastic. The combat is incredibly fun, with great animations, and swinging around the city feels absolutely perfect. It’s one of those must‑play titles for anyone who loves single‑player games, and with a DualSense connected by cable (for haptics, triggers, and audio features), plus a TV, it becomes the ideal experience. Say what you want about Sony and PlayStation, but when it comes to first‑party games, nobody matches them.

Beyond: Two Souls, another Quantic Dream classic, this one also playable in co‑op, which I did and recommend for anyone wanting to enjoy it that way, but it can be fully enjoyed in singleplayer too. Still big on choices matter, there were some pretty important choices to make, especially toward the end of the game, which completely change the outcomes. The game has also its usual Quantic Dream weirdness, both gameplay‑ and storywise, but it has great, likeable characters, with well-done relationships, and a very touching story. For spoiler reasons I can’t say why, but the game needs a sequel, which is unlikely given how much time has passed, but one can only wish.

As with the other games so far, there is stuff left out from the movies, and although I am sure it is a challenge to turn a film into a video game and adapt it, it felt like there were things a bit too important this time not included or changed, with pretty important characters barely getting any screen time or words spoken, and others not present at all. But it is not like the other two games were that faithful, and one must always approach these adaptations with caution and not as a first experience with the story, but as a playable adaptation, just what it is. That being said, this is by far the best game so far, compared to the two predecessors. The new mechanics and spells are great, the gameplay is fun, so is the level design, and I love that this time you can play with the whole trio instead of only Harry.

Astro's Playroom is one of the best free games one can play, and the best title to first beat when you first get your hands on a PS5. The haptics, audio, triggers, and all controller features are awesomely implemented and make for a unique experience, especially if it is, as I said, the first thing you touch on the PS5. Thanks to them, I found myself grinning all the time while playing it, astonished at how I could feel everything in the game in my hands. I don't remember the last time I was so intrigued and captivated by a VN, always curious about what will happen, the mystery and constant tension keeping me on my toes while a dark feeling lingers throughout the entire story. This is by no means a normal VN, it has more gameplay than many non-VN games, which was shocking to see. The detective gameplay, always asking yourself what is actually going on, the character development of some really well-done characters with amazing artwork, the really good dialogue, exploration, and the many other gameplay elements all together create one of the best experiences I've had in years.

I have a sweet spot for Guardians of the Galaxy, it is my favorite inside the Marvel universe, and this game adapts it literally perfectly. This game masterfully does the characters, their dialogues, jokes, interactions between them, it brings it all to life exactly as I wished to see the Guardians and its universe. It also has really, really good music, because without it, it just wouldn't work, of course, and masterfully done voice acting. The story has everything you'd expect from a Guardians story, and the gameplay is really fun and well-polished. The game had some hiccups here and there for me (stuttering), but nothing to break the immersion, and I ain't the biggest fan of the jumping animation, but this is all picky stuff, in the end, this is a really well-done adventure game, the way one should be.

I think the word that can best sum up my experience is disappointment. For someone totally unfamiliar with the Dead by Daylight universe, it was confusing, although most stuff was easy to understand, in the end a lot of things were left unexplained, which made the ending and the last 15–20% of the game a total mess for me.After the mediocre implementation of the antagonist in The Devil in Me, I never thought I would see one even worse. Still, the story felt, up to a point, really interesting, and I was genuinely looking forward to finding out more, but it failed to deliver in the end. The Casting of Frank Stone has by far the best graphics in a Supermassive game, and the gameplay is alright, and overall it is an okay-ish experience, especially in co-op with a friend, although being locked into playing a group of characters is plain dumb, and if judged from all points of view, this game is only slightly above mediocre.

This rerelease of hands-down the best DLC in the entire Borderlands series is the perfect excuse to re-experience it if you’ve already beaten it in the original game, or to experience it for the first time before playing Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, if you plan to play that afterward. With references ranging from Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones up to World of Warcraft or Dark Souls, top-notch humor from Tiny Tina (the best character in the Borderlands universe), a great story that even touches on emotional struggles and loss acceptance, and the peak gameplay we all know from Borderlands 2 (only this time set in a made-up fantasy world), this game has literally everything you want from a Borderlands experience. The game that started the Final Fantasy franchise, the one and only, remastered and upgraded. Thanks to some modernisations, can be enjoyed by players today, although in my honest opinion this is a game mostly for those who are either nostalgic, curious about how the series started, or avid JRPG fans. For those who do not apply to any of the three groups, I would not recommend this game. The story is nothing to tell your kids about, neither is the gameplay or the world, with really confusing moments while progressing the game, but there is a unique feeling while playing it that makes you feel, let’s say, cozy (the really great OST helps too), even for me with little JRPG experience and none in Final Fantasy games. I enjoyed my playthrough even though I did find it only a bit above mediocre, but that made me look forward even more to the next games, to find out how the series evolved, and what exactly made it what it is today.

This is a game about a bunch of randos who call themselves guerrillas and want to start a revolution to take down the dictator: Castillo, the only interesting character in the game. At no point does anyone take themselves seriously, jokes are everywhere, the storytelling is all over the place, and I never feel like I’m actually part of a revolution of any kind. I could cry all day about how ridiculously bad the story is, but I’ll sum it up by saying I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen something this bad. When it comes to gameplay, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a Ubisoft open-world game: beautiful sceneries, but a map stuffed with things designed to trigger your inner FOMO, which usually works for me in Assassin’s Creed, but there the gameplay, parkour, and world are actually fun and interesting, here.. Especially with the massive amount of bugs, bad AI, and glitches everywhere, though I’m oddly thankful they existed, because thanks to them I had a blast playing co-op with my friend, laughing with tears for most of the playthrough.

When people say this is a very good game, they are not lying, it’s truly astonishing what a small team managed to create. With really beautiful and high-quality soundtracks and songs, a deep and heartbreaking story with great character development, and gameplay that’s really fun. Quite challenging at times, it felt like playing a turn-based soulslike, but don’t get scared by that, because you get used to it pretty fast. Other than taking a bit too long to beat, there’s nothing I disliked, but that’s because I was stubborn and explored every place, which also made my characters too OP (making the last battles way too easy), otherwise, if I had only followed the main story, it would have taken way less.

I don't remember the last time I looked forward so much to seeing the end credits while playing a video game. There is one strategy one must follow to succeed in this game, and that’s to die as much as possible, as fast as possible, to get invincibility, otherwise, you’ll throw your controller out the window. Scratch that, you’ll want to throw it out the window even while playing with invincibility, because it won’t matter in many of the stages/levels. There are challenging games, but games where you feel you get better each time you die, see the pattern, want to git gud, and feel rewarded while doing it. This is not a game like that, this game is frustrating just for the sake of being frustrating, and the fun moments it has won’t matter when you realize it has some of the worst level and game design you’ve ever seen in your life.

The gameplay and mechanics are nearly the same, with only small differences, for each Pixar film: they have no depth, gameplay-wise or story-wise. Still, I respect that this is intended for kids, and they probably would get some fun out of it, especially for the chance to experience their favorite animations, but I can’t help noticing how lazy its gameplay is. Lastly, I think the worst thing about the game is the narrator of each episode or level, who, no matter what you do or how well you follow the objective, keeps screaming at you every three seconds to complete it, even if the objective is to follow a car you’re ALREADY following.

The universe itself has everything you’d expect from a fantasy world, and the character development of the companions is great, especially the voice inside your head, which really makes you care about it. With dialogues being such a big part of the game, I really enjoyed how my choices influenced the story in the end. After beating the way-too-short campaign in co-op, this game was a disappointment for me personally. It had nothing special to make it the mind-blowing title people loved, from the tanky and very frustrating sprint or the overly basic shooting and weapon variety to the uninteresting story and boring characters without depth. The game did have some amazing parts, namely the scenography, effects, and visuals of the cutscenes, which were really well done, along with a truly top-tier soundtrack. And I would be lying if I said I did not have fun beating it with my friend, but it was the kind of usual fun you’d expect from a mediocre indie game (without the cutscenes) in 2025, not from the one, the only: Gears of War.

I loved the decision-making the most and felt like it mattered a lot, and the story felt very intriguing, especially the mystery behind everything, and I also loved the soundtrack, but it also felt like the game never really took itself seriously throughout the playthrough. The dialogue is too often cringe or boring, with forced humor and unnatural character reactions that rarely felt real, and my playthrough ended with too many plot holes and an unsatisfying ending. Once in a while, true pieces of art are created, this is one of them, a literal masterpiece from the first moment to the final scene. The soundtrack is astonishing, the scenery mind-blowing, the characters and their relationships incredibly well-crafted. This is why I love narrative games, and why I believe video games to be the strongest medium for delivering unforgettable stories.

Having beaten all prior Borderlands, this one felt like a bit too much for me, and it took years of coming back to it now and then to finally beat it. The formula needs to be fully rethought to impress me again, because it's become a bit boring. Add to that the worst UI in the series, bugged map completion percentages, gameplay features locked behind beating the game first, and the most useless loot I've seen (99% of the loot felt completely pointless). There is good storytelling and it kept its over-the-top humor, but it lacks the feel of Borderlands 2, especially a villain on Handsome Jack’s level. That said, the gameplay itself is highly improved and still fun, but while a solid experience, it desperately needs fresh ideas.

Strider

Strider is a really great Metroidvania side-scrolling platformer with an awesome main character and fluid, easy-to-learn combat, plus well-designed bosses. The theme is also interesting: you're a ninja in a futuristic, cyberpunk-like world within a communist-style state. The story isn’t anything special and shouldn’t be the reason you play, it’s all about the gameplay. Despite how fun and polished it is, I started to lose interest and got a bit bored in the last quarter. Still, it’s a really well-polished platformer, and I highly recommend playing it on the Steam Deck if you have one.

Yakuza Kiwami

Kiwami, in Japanese, means extreme: everything in this game is kiwami. The main character's personality is kiwami, the story is kiwami, the fighting is kiwami, and even bowling, playing darts, or racing toy cars is kiwami. But that’s not everything that's kiwami, its side stories are also **** boring at times, because the game overall drags a lot, and being so repetitive doesn’t make things better. The fighting is fun most of the time, though I’m not a fan of having to use and memorize four fighting styles. What makes this game great is the awesome main story, the drama, the amazing characters (especially Haruka), and the awesome Japanese voice acting!

Heavy Rain is a great, intense, and sometimes frustrating choices-matter thriller that fully embraces its QTE-heavy gameplay, using every button on the gamepad (yes, even the Steam Controller’s gyro) to make even scrambled eggs a challenge, while delivering a gripping story that, despite some questionable twists and a few unsatisfying endings in my playthrough, still kept me hooked from start to finish.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me

The Devil in Me tries to shake things up with more exploration and character control, but it often feels clunky, especially outside the hotel, where awkward animations and invisible walls ruin the immersion. It can be played solo, in couch co-op, or online co-op, and I found online co-op to be the only one I can’t recommend, the definitive way to play this game being, in my opinion, in couch co-op (Movie Night). The horror inside the hotel is excellent, but the story is the weakest in the series, lacking the twists and mystery that made the previous games great. Performance issues, an unnecessary QTE-Prompt UI visual change, and a forgettable mute antagonist make it the weakest entry in the first season of The Dark Pictures Anthology. It’s still worth playing for the choices and tense hotel sequences, but just barely. Ranking the series: Little Hope (masterpiece), House of Ashes (mind-blowing), Man of Medan (flawed but decent), and at the bottom: The Devil in Me.

House of Ashes starts slow, but once it got going, it absolutely blew my mind. It can be played solo, in couch co-op, or online co-op, and, although better implemented in this one, online co-op still is, for me, the worst way one could experience this game. While the horror and mystery didn't grab me at first like the previous games, the payoff was incredible, and the ending was perfect. The gameplay stays true to the series but introduces fresh mechanics, and the choices still feel impactful. The characters took time to grow on me, but two of them really stood out. A few visual glitches aside, this was a fantastic entry, and The Dark Pictures Anthology remains one of the most unique co-op experiences out there.

Little Hope is a masterpiece. It can be played solo, in couch co-op, or online co-op, and I found online co-op to be the only one I can’t recommend, the definitive way to play this game being, in my opinion, in couch co-op (Movie Night). It grabs you right from the start with its dark, gripping story and never lets go. The atmosphere, mystery, and Silent Hill-like horror keep you on edge, while the characters feel real, making you genuinely care about them. The storytelling is phenomenal, packed with twists, sadness, and intrigue, leading to an unforgettable, heartbreaking, yet fulfilling ending. Unlike Man of Medan, this one felt complete, polished, and delivered everything it should. Easily one of the best choices-matter horror experiences out there!

Man of Medan has everything I love: choices that truly matter, an engaging horror story, and fantastic co-op options, but it's held back by a rushed and emotionless ending. It can be played solo, in couch co-op, or online co-op, and I found online co-op to be the only one I can’t recommend, the definitive way to play this game being, in my opinion, in couch co-op (Movie Night). The playthrough was gripping, with stunning visuals, immersive atmosphere, and a strong sense of mystery, but it ended so abruptly that it left a huge void. The lack of proper closure for the characters made the final moments feel hollow. Still, despite its flaws, it’s a great short horror experience that I’d recommend to fans of the genre.

The Life is Strange Remaster keeps everything that made the original a masterpiece: its emotional storytelling, immersive world, and unforgettable characters, while improving the visuals with better lighting, facial animations, and lip-sync. It’s the definitive way to experience this heartbreaking and beautiful journey. If you’ve played the original, it depends on whether the visual upgrades are worth it for you, but if you’ve never played Life is Strange before, what are you even doing? It’s 2025.. go buy it now!
