Seven Samurai10
May 3, 2014
WIthout doubt, the greatest action film of all time which has since set the bar for all other subsequent action films. Kurosawa, in the space of five years has now made three of the greatest films of all time (Rashomon and Ikiru)

Before Midnight9
May 3, 2014
Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke reunite for what is probably the most consistent, and definitely the most underrated film trilogy of all time.

Raging Bull10
May 2, 2014
Raging Bull is Martin Scorsese's magnum opus that surpasses both Taxi Driver and Goodfellas and is without doubt one of the top five American films ever made. A film that contains probably the greatest performance of all time by an actor and the fight scenes are simply exhilarating to watch. What is perhaps even more astonishing is that Scorsese knew nothing about boxing which is probably why the majority of this film takes place outside of the ring than inside it. Easily the greatest film of the 1980s.

The Thin Red Line10
May 2, 2014
This film is cinema poetry and in my opinion, Terrence Malick's best film. Often overlooked, especially because it came out the same year as Saving Private Ryan, which, like nearly all Spielberg films, gives you all the answers and little to go home and think about. The Thin Red Line is infinitely superior and in terms of war films, is only second to Apocalypse Now.

Only God Forgives5

After watching the artistic triumph that was Drive, I was eager to see what the next collaboration between Winding Refn and Gosling would bring. Sufficed to say, I was disappointed. Sure, the technical aspects of the film were impressive and the cinematography arguably surpassed that of Drive's. This film was in dire need of a screenwriter; there wasn't any depth to this film. There was a lack of good dialogue, or rather dialogue itself. I'm not against minimalist films (2001 is my favourite film) but "Wanna fight?" is as corny as they come.

Mulholland Dr.9

我不明白臭狗屎。什麼他媽的是這部電影呢?典型的大衛·林奇。 That's what I got from this film ^. Gets at least an 8 for that amazing lesbian scene. But, this is a brilliant film, regardless, even if I didn't understand **** Standard David Lynch

Scarface1

This is quite easily the most overrated film of all time. It's not even ****ing close. What makes it even more shocking is that this is the product of people who are actually quite talented; Brian DePalma, Oliver Stone and Al Pacino, neither of whom do themselves justice. Al Pacino is shockingly bad, his accent is just ****ing annoying, as is Stone's equally annoying script (or lackthereof) and dialogue. . There is no genuine plot to this junk, just tells us what we already know. Violence was absolutely pointless (and my favorite films are Goodfellas and Taxi Driver). One of the 10 worst films I've ever seen. Gets a 1 because I started laughing when Montana finally gets killed by Terminator. Goodfellas and the Godfather Part II are infinitely better examples of the American dream. Hell, if you want to watch a three hour movie about excess, check out the Wolf of Wall Street. At least that had yet another great turn by DiCaprio

There Will Be Blood10
May 1, 2014
Now to my mind, it's an abomination to consider that any man, woman or child in this magnificent country of ours should have to look upon (this particular) loaf of bread as (anything but) a luxury I have drank this milkshake and I approve.

The Godfather: Part II10
May 1, 2014
If the Godfather has a 100 metascore then the Godfather II should have a metascore of 99. Hands down the greatest sequel ever made as well as the best acted film ever made, surpassing even the first one. Pacino gives his greatest performance

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb10
May 1, 2014
Greatest satirical comedy film ever made, as well as the funniest death scene. **** Metacritic's outrageous rule of a minimum 150 characters. Kubrick is the ****

Caché (Hidden)10
May 1, 2014
In my not so humble opinion, Cache is the greatest mystery/thriller film ever made, and the finest of the 21st Century along with There Will Be Blood.

Goodfellas10
Apr 26, 2014
Martin Scorsese's last classic film (The Departed was borderline, and for me it was on the wrong side of that border) gives an incredibly realistic depiction of life in the mafia. Surpassed only by the first two Godfather films in terms of crime films, but this is more re-watchable and more entertaining. Joe Pesci gives one of the greatest supporting performances of all time. Should have been the third oscar for Martin Scorsese (with Taxi Driver and Raging Bull). Yet another academy **** up

Taxi Driver10
Apr 26, 2014
To quote Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, World's End), because he sums it up better than I could possibly hope to, this is "a film so vivid, hypnotic and corrosive that it feels forever seared onto your eyeballs, Taxi Driver turns a city, a time and a state of mind into a walking nightmare that’s somehow both horribly real and utterly dreamlike". One of my three favourite films of all time along with Goodfellas and 2001: A Space Odyssey from America's greatest living filmmaker. Not to mention that Robert De Niro gives one of his greatest performances. Pity, considering the crap that he is seems to be releasing nowadays.

2001: A Space Odyssey10
Apr 26, 2014
This film is surely the greatest accomplishment in the history of cinema both on a technical level and a storytelling level from the hands down the greatest filmmaker that America has ever produced. A film that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Kubrick has practically destroyed the entire science fiction genre.

Forrest Gump7
Apr 26, 2014
This is a good film that is unbelievably overrated. Gets a 7 for Tom Hanks' performance and the one admittedly hilarious scene where Bubba and Forrest are asked whether they are twins. The rest of the film is cartoonish, pretentious and overly-sentimental bull****. How this beat the Shawshank Redemption, or even worse Pulp Fiction, arguably the best movies of the 90s is beyond me.
