This movie seems like it’s leading up to an emotional and satisfying ending, only to have one of the most lazy, stupid and rushed endings I’ve seen from a prestige director. Obviously the acting and score and stuff is great, but wow they messed up the payoff. It’s too bad because everything else is top tier. Top 10 times the ending ruined the movie and made it a waste of time.

Doesn’t do justice to the book. None of the locations look remotely like Seattle and most of the crew’s stories aren’t explored. Also, they only showed 3 boat Races in the whole movie as if that was all it took to beat the Germans in the Olympics. The only relationship that is explored in depth is that of Joe Rance and his girlfriend. The relationship has no chemistry and it eats up a lot of the movie. Joel Egerton is probably the best part of this movie, and the race scenes are well filmed.

Excellent acting, gripping story, beautiful cinematography and direction. One of the most suspenseful movies of the 2010’s.
