None of these storylines are duds, and the ways in which they all interact with one another to varying degrees remains one of the show’s greatest accomplishments.

In a broad sense the show lives up to its name, but season 2 proves it can be as intricate, and intimate, as it can be expansive, and in those lovely details of its well-drawn characters embattled with deliciously complex moral choices, The Expanse soars.

Television perfection, in every and all respects! In retrospect, it is truly -amazing- how this GOAT of a Sci-Fi series was even made like this in the first place, considering what is being pumped out of the factories of streaming mindless TV slop and fed to the lobotomized general audiences nowadays! The only thing that made a single dent in this all around brilliant production was the unfortunate -mess- that was made by Amazon Studios around actor Cas Anwar, ruining his career and killing off his beloved character Alex before the story’s end! Of course, some aspect of our sad, sad reality had to intrude into the story universe of The Expanse and leave a sour taste in the mouth. Hopefully, in the future some other capable creatives will pick this up again (retcon the imbecillic mistake and return the character of Alex Kamal where he belongs) and properly finish this -amazing- saga as it is written in the books 7, 8 and 9 of The Expanse series.

There’s some goofy dialogue that holds it back, but I like that it doesn’t hold your hand in terms of its narrative or themes. I’m curious to see where it goes.

The Expanse cuts viewers no slack. It plunges so quickly into its world that you may think, as I did, that you accidentally failed to watch the first episode.... Colorful characters, banter and some zero-gravity sex are more selling points.

I really loved this show when it started. I have not read the novels, but seasons one through three were a lot of fun. Seasons four and especially five were a big “meh.” Season six is not looking promising but who knows it’s still early. They need more air time with Holden and Amos. Naomi’s storyline is played out and Marco is a cartoon villain. Why are we spending half an episode on her son? Nonsense. Amos was the most interesting character on the show and he just kind of stopped. It’s going to be a big let down if they don’t properly finish his arc.

Chronic terrible pacing makes it hard to feel invested in the story or the characters. Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, and Cas Anvar deliver stand out performances in a series where the bad casting decisions spoil the good ones.
