One of the best Argentine series ever made, the CGI is extraordinary, some of the best I've ever seen, especially considering they made it with a budget of 15 million, respecting the original work and including many Argentine references. Honestly, it's my favorite series until I see Breaking Bad.

A really great series. They way the tension is ramped up is intense, and I love the way the audience is kept guessing. I also really appreciated watching a sci-fi series that isn't focused on Anglo-Saxon culture.

It's a good tv show, but with a very inconsistent plot. If the plot were clearer and there were more episodes, it would definitely be better.

I just finished watching season one of the eternaut. Honestly, it met my expectations and it's good. The script is far more complex than most typical zombie or apocalypse-themed shows and movies, which often follow a linear and predictable narrative. In the eternaut, we’re kept in the dark alongside the characters, uncovering the story as they do. What stood out for me was how trusting and good-natured everyone seemed, for the most part. People were willing to help each other, even complete strangers. The first time I’ve ever watched something made from Argentina and I also think it's an incredible accomplishment given the humble budget of $15 million in total for the whole first season. I can't wait to see what Season 2 has in store!

It's ok I guess. The acting is subpar and the story doesn't do much to explain or entertain.

El Eternauta is a great Argentine production that provides a very interesting insight into how we in Latin America would assimilate the apocalypse. In addition, the series perfectly captures the fear of military dictatorship and the need to unite to survive, themes present in the original material. The acting, art design, and the use of virtual sets stand out to enhance immersion. The season finale is as intriguing as it is disorienting.

I cannot understand the positive reviews. Perhaps I didn't watch enough. The first two episodes were some of the dumbest sci fi I have ever seen. The characters were dummies fighting over plastic bags. We are supposed to think this guy is some kind of genius for coming up with a basic hazmat suit. They all deserve to die for being sofa king stupid.

Adapting El Eternauta, one of the most important comics in Argentine history, was no easy task—let alone turning it into a series without losing its essence. But Netflix’s version largely pulls it off. Not perfectly, but with ambition, respect for the source material, and technical quality that’s a pleasure to watch. Visually, it’s strong, the special effects more than do their job, and the apocalyptic tone is effectively established from the first episode.Ricardo Darín is, as expected, outstanding. He not only carries the story with ease, but also brings humanity and strength to a character facing extreme circumstances while remaining believable. Around him, everything works: the atmosphere is oppressive when it needs to be, the supporting cast has weight, and the direction shows genuine affection for the original work. It’s clear that Stagnaro didn’t just want to adapt the comic—he wanted to create something that speaks to the present without betraying the past.Does it drag at times? Yes, occasionally. There are stretches where the pace slows down and it seems to get lost between personal drama and collective epic. But even in those slower moments, the series holds your interest thanks to its world-building, underlying tension, and the political and social backdrop that—just like in the comic—is always **** short, El Eternauta is a brave, well-crafted series. It resonates with those familiar with the story and draws in those discovering it for the first time. It just barely misses a perfect score—but it fully earns its 9 out of 10.

Sci Fi without the clichés of American or Asian productions. A fresh take on the genre from Argentina with a very local perspective.

The Eternaut, Netflix’s adaptation of the Argentine comic classic, lands with icy precision and a haunting message that resonates far beyond its sci-fi trappings. Directed with tension and heart, the series stays faithful to the 1957 story by Héctor Germán Oesterheld and Francisco Solano López, yet finds new urgency in today’s world. Set in a snow-covered Buenos Aires where a deadly fallout descends from the sky, the show follows Juan Salvo and a group of ordinary citizens struggling to survive an invisible invasion. What starts as a survival thriller evolves into a layered critique of authoritarianism, power, and the fragility of society — just like the original. The performances are strong across the board, with Ricardo Darín Jr. bringing a grounded vulnerability to Salvo. The cinematography is stark and atmospheric, capturing both the claustrophobia of confinement and the eerie beauty of a frozen apocalypse. At times, the pacing stumbles, especially in the mid-episodes, and some of the effects feel uneven. But The Eternaut more than makes up for it with bold storytelling, emotional weight, and political resonance. This is not just a sci-fi story — it’s a warning, a mirror, and a tribute to resistance. Verdict: A thoughtful, chilling, and visually striking adaptation that honors its source material while standing firmly in the now.

The acting is decent, but the CGI aliens area bit of a joke! The story would be improved by omitting the aliens altogether imho. I liked that it's set in Argentina, as in the UK you don't see much from there. Omit the crappy song at the end too...awful, so Netflix! An ok watch.

Excellent adaptation. This reinterpretation from director Stagnaro brings the author's message to the 21st century. In this first season he has been able to decide what changes were necessary and what to be maintained. The actors do a great job and the special effects are extremely good. I admire how the director cared about bringing the culture and idiosyncrasy of Argentina to the screen and Hollywood film's specularity. The director cleverly takes us to the places (many of them already in the comic) and points of interest that are part of the identity of Buenos Aires. Finally, I also admire the message that is is being presented here: we need to work with others to survive.

A brilliant Darín brings Juan Salvo to life in an updated version of what is perhaps the most transcendent comic in South **** series seeks to be "faithful" to the original ideas of Oesterheld, who wrote this comic in the midst of a dictatorship that took him and his entire family. The comic's allegories of foreign interference and how they manipulate their own people... are brilliant.Additionally, in a beautiful move, Stagnaro humanizes our hero, injects him with internal doubts and controversies... and adds a plus by adding the weight of being a Falklands War veteran... Chapeaux. There are also several tributes to Solano Lopez, with shots that look like digital copies of those comics. At times, what we see in that snowy, apocalyptic Buenos Aires is sublime."No one is saved alone" would be the series' main line, and the ongoing discussion surrounding this statement hovers throughout this first season.

It’s incredible that this story was created and published between 1957 and 1959. Now that it’s being widely seen, I hope justice is done and that people recognize how much it was copied over so many years. If you get the chance, read the comic — it’s infinitely better, a true masterpiece.
