The striking thing about Schitt’s Creek is in how writing this quick and smart and performances as finely calibrated as these exist on a show without cynicism, crudeness, glibness, or the kind of tortured darkness that has come to define what we consider “great” comedy. It’s masterful comedy that exists in a happy world.

Schitt's Creek's final season might not be self-conscious, but it is self-aware; as the series prepares for one last goodbye, it's interested in how endings become new beginnings.

Exceptional show! Really gets great at the end of the second season. Wonderful organic character development.

Lots of fun! Entertaining, witty, well paced, full of punchy jokes that generally don't drag on for too long. Everything one can look for in a show

Consistently pleasurable. ... That’s the show: funny and light and loopy, able to make a meal out of what seemed like a snack. The show’s fifth season, which starts Wednesday on Pop, finds it having perfected its formula. Big on love, big on reactions, big on outré black-and-white outfits.

The show has a familiar fish-out-of-water conceit.... But it's always a pleasure to see Levy and O'Hara play off each other. [13 Feb 2014, p.66]

I can’t say that there are many funny jokes in Schitt’s Creek, but the show is never less than watchable, thanks in particular to Levy Sr. (playing, more or less, the show’s straight-man) and O’Hara (superb as a former soap-star villain and a real-life diva).

The screws need some tightening but the basics are in place and the cast is more than capable.

Schitt’s Creek leaves everyone concerned looking adrift without much of a clue, much less a paddle.

We are so proud of this show in Canada and especially in Toronto where it was filmed. To see legends like O'hara and Levy get their due is critical but to see a well-thought out and written gay relationship and love story is sooooo inspiring. Thank you Dan Levy!!! and thank you to Canada's public broadcaster CBC!

Very boring. Essentially Arrested Development (which already had peaked before its halfway point) but for the Twitter crowd. Everyone's rich and spoiled and has mental illness, haw haw. But maybe if they try, they can discover that they are **** just as we know every single person is, and this will be their redemption for some reason. I watched the entire first season back to back, laughing once. Very boring, hence the score.

Heard this show was good so gave it a try, Didn’t laugh once 3 seasons in and decided I had to stop.

I wanted to like this so much. I love Chris Elliott and Judd Hirsch. Just kidding, I know it's Eugene Levy. Is this one of those improvisational shows where they don't have a script and we're counting on the actors to carry it? Well, STOP IT! Get a writer. Most actors cannot write, so don't set them up for failure. I will still try to get through this but it hurts because there is so little that is funny about it. I don't know how you ruin a Levy/Elliott/O'Hara vehicle but they have.
