The mystery around Paige’s disappearance stands at the center of this story, yet it is only one component of the tale. Shocking revelations, horrifying cruelty and complex lies engulf the narrative itself, even when it leans toward the preposterous. Still, the stellar cast, taut pacing and inventive storylines keep the show engaging, even when it could’ve very well fallen apart.

There are many good performances, but I was especially fond of Jones (co-creator and co-star, with James Corden, of the much-loved “Gavin & Stacey”), whose no-nonsense shamus could support a show of her own, and Gledhill, as the only character allowed to display any sort of cheeriness — a necessary leavening agent over eight dark episodes.

Good drama show with Thriller vibes in places, Good story, good writing and another great edition to the Harlan Corben series collection. James Nesbitt played his role perfectly

It’s not a groundbreaking role for Nesbitt but it does remind you that few do the tormented Everyman better than he does. And, just as deeply pleasingly, it has the always-magnificent Tracy-Ann Oberman. .... The plot moves in increasingly convoluted but well-oiled grooves towards its resolution over the course of eight episodes.

It's kind of bonkers and likely to engage viewers, but one can't help but be left wanting a little more.

here are lazy shortcuts to characterisation, with several players reduced to little more than narrative cogs. But as disposable entertainment goes, Run Away is effective hokum. And sometimes, particularly on New Year’s Day, that’s precisely what the patient requires.

For those still nursing holiday hangovers, the hull may hold through the eight episodes of this admittedly never-boring thriller. Others may find themselves hoping that next year’s Coben anchors itself just a bit more slightly to things like logic and reality.

For all its twists, turns, red herrings and fishy dialogue, Run Away (Netflix) gives the viewer exactly what it expects. We came here to binge, not watch. It’s the TV drama equivalent of mindlessly scrolling your phone.

I love the production and the story unfolds in a way that isn't predictable. It should be getting really high reviews, right? Well, there are some problems. The main issue is the main character, who is monumentally gullable. Its hard to care about a character you don't like. Part of the story is about a cop working on a case, and he is a really bad cop, not going where the clues takes him, but rather jumps to conclusions and... uuh... I have not fully given up on it yet, but it leaves quite a bit to hope for.

With Run Away, the same thing happens to me as with almost all adaptations of Harlan Coben: the feeling of watching something that moves a lot but, in the end, doesn’t really say much. Everything is designed so you keep watching, so the next twist arrives before you’ve had time to think about the previous one. It works as a mechanism, yes, but it leaves me **** story starts strong and never loses pace. The problem is precisely that: it moves so fast there’s no room for the characters to breathe or for the conflict to truly sink in. The emotions are there, on paper, but they’re dealt with quickly, almost as if they were getting in the way between one surprise and the next. When that happens, the mystery becomes more of a process than an experience. From a performance standpoint, there’s little to complain about. James Nesbitt carries the weight of the series well and brings solid professionalism, but even he can’t give the story more depth. It feels like the characters exist only to push the plot forward, not to build something that stays with you once the episode ends. There’s also that very recognizable authorial stamp: forced coincidences, increasingly tangled twists, and an accumulation of secrets that ends up overwhelming. It can be addictive if you enjoy this kind of roller coaster, but for me it turns into noise. A lot of movement, very little resonance. Once you start seeing the pattern, the intrigue loses its ****’s not a bad series, not at all. It’s easy to watch, it entertains, and it will probably hook viewers who already enjoy this kind of fast-consumption thriller. It’s just not for me. I miss more truth, more silence, and less constant need to surprise.

The machine that is Netflix is sadly becoming more and more formulaic over the years. They latch onto book series from the same authors and make what feels like an endless cycle of repeats. This is another typical Harlan Coben adapted series that will neither surprise you nor disappoint.

What happened to Simon Thorp’s missing son? Did I miss something? Am I to assume he was a cult son.
