Our Planet II is chock full of spectacular scenes of animals on the move, but it also shows us things we might not have known about the whys and hows of how certain species migrate.

Do absolutely watch this brilliant and educational series on the biggest TV you can, but do not lose sight of the fact that this isn’t just about entertainment. It is not historical documentation, and hopefully never will be. It is a vital, living reminder of the extraordinary beauty of our world as well as a desperate call to action. Watch, enjoy, and help.

Gently sounds the global-warming alarm bell while hypnotically guiding us from the skyscraper-size Arctic ice caps to the cruel hunting grounds of the Serengeti to the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean's midnight zone. [5/12 Apr 2019, p.89]

Our Planet is spectacular to look at and conveys its vital message with telling examples, however depressing. I would sooner re-watch Planet Earth, but Attenborough is still Attenborough: one of the most vital forces on TV.

Socially responsible nature programming that retains all its beauty – we have at last, and at least, come to this.

Every time Attenborough pivots from a pleasant description of how some animals live and love in the wild to how they’re living on borrowed time, it’s a jarring transition as excruciating as it is refreshing.

The series highlights wildlife with great mastery, each episode is in different biomes presenting the animals that live there and also how the ecosystem works, the differential is that Our Planet takes the task of raising public awareness seriously, in no episode David Attenborough fails to warn the viewer about how such environment is changing because of human actions, and how each animal and plant pays the price for our actions. Our Planet pleases everyone, with an exceptional narration, simply magnificent images and an important message that must be shared.

Great show. Of course it is easily comparable to BBC's Planet Earth, but it is quite fantastic in its own right

The show is really good and one can clearly compare it to planet earth, which is really best in its category. The beauty and complexity of nature is astounding. The show explains relations between some species very well. What I don't like, is the the narrative angle, the constant reminder how humans affect the nature and destroy the planet. I know and it **** but you don't have to remind me in every other sentence.

David Attenborough has been the greatest wildlife presenter of my lifetime and I’m no spring chicken having grandchildren of my own now. Unfortunately, this was the least enjoyable of his productions. The photography, editing, locations even the choice of animals aren't bad per se, just not quite as good as the BBC. What was off-putting was the practically unremitting gloom. Yes, the habitats of the world's wildlife are being devastated at an awful rate and we should stop and reverse it immediately. But this mood of hopeless despair won’t win new young fans. People will just shrug and say it can’t be stopped and move on to another cause to the detriment of the world's wildlife. Negatively only appeals to negative people. Life needs more joy.
