Grandpa bids farewell to his family and leaves Oakdale for Arizona with his second wife Erma Kopecki.

A drunk Melinda confronts Brad after finding him with Betsy. After he get her on the boat Melinda realizes he's taking her back to town and jumps overboard. Brad attempts a rescue but Melissa's body is later found.

Melinda Gray arrives in Oakdale to locate her Aunt Kim who's unaware of her existence.

Nick tells his brother Steve to stay away from Betsy Stewart. In the argument that follows Nick suffers a fatal heart attack, leaving Kim a widow again.

Meg tells Pam Tonio is blackmailing her regarding Josh. Barbara reveals to Craig Emily's affair with James, Craig runs to Emily to berate her. Hal and Margo discuss who's helping James. Tonio receives an unwelcome call from James.

Casey tries to make his dinner with Lyla more romantic. Lucinda overhears a fight between Tonio and Meg. Holden tells an unenthusiastic Iva his marriage plans with Emily. Jessica hears news about the grand jury.

Police officer Margo Hughes, acting on a tip provided by her father John, arrives at Java to arrest Carly. Holden and Lily learn through genetic testing that Melinda Reid is their child.

Checking in on his sick partner Charles Hank tangles with the father. Meg and Josh prepare for their wedding day with Josh being nervous. The celebration is a success with the event happening in the Snyder barn.

Paul receives another secret phone call from his dad James. Hal insists Hank come to dinner so they can deal with Paul's homophobia. A Viet Nam vet having flashbacks attacks Lien but Andy rescues her.

Lamar learns from Jessica and Duncan that they are expecting a baby. Ed is frustrated by Susan's disappearance, Emily and Kim advise patience.

While young Chris is out canoeing a severe storm surges into the lake, capsizing him. His step granddad Dan comes to his rescue, getting him to shore and building a shelter which save the life of the Hughes boy.

After learning Cricket's newborn son Billy isn't biologically his Eric Hollister once again leaves Oakdale.

Kim and Bob have a showdown with Laura, she continues to lie about Bob. Beau tells all to Pam about Laura then they head to tell the Hughes. Emily tries to resurrect her marriage to Holden. A disheveled Craig has a harrowing rescue.

Betsy and Seth decide to cool things off before they end up in bed. Meg calls Tonio at 2:00_AM and a woman answers. Emily drops by the Snyder farm to talk with Holden about their divorce. Caleb is almost caught having sex with Angel.

Barbara overhears Emily talking about her affair with Tonio to Betsy. Lily takes Spence out to dinner and introduces him around. Caleb flirts with Lily. Craig asks Emily out. Nancy discusses with son Bob about missing Chris.

Margo panics over the baby's fever and call Dr. Casey. Lucinda visits Tom and Margo, makes insinuations about their child's parentage. Kirk causes talk by squiring Adelaide around town. Duncan has a clash with Lilith.

Linc hears his dad Woody's explanation for deserting him as a child and beginning a new life with Mary with a different name. Hutch also listens.

John returns to Oakdale and is angry to find Andy living with Julie. Andy defends himself and Julie. Lily finds out about a past romance of Derek and begins crying. Derek offers a divorce. Niles set his plan into effect.

Carly and John briefly put aside their differences to have Parker christened. James introduce his son David to Lily as Dr. Hamilton. Susan comes to Tom and Margo with her concerns about Emily's vanishing from Oakdale.

Oakdale deals with the aftermath of Paul shooting and killing his father, James Stenbeck.

Margo passes out but still refuses to tell Tom she's pregnant because they are divorcing. Holden and Lily kiss. Meg visits Dusty and comes on strong, Dusty asks Andy to keep it a secret. Tad plans his revenge against Betsy.

Craig surprises everyone at the Snyder farm with his return, delighting all but Tonio. Emily and Tonio have steamy sex at the pond. Laura falls prey to her dark fantasies, imagining conversations with Kim and Bob.

Dusty celebrates his birthday at Snyder farm, Holden is hostile towards Josh. Kim confronts Andy about possible drug abuse. Tom has immigration problems concerning his daughter Lien, heads to Washington DC.

Members of the Hughes family gather at the hospital as Andy begins to recover. Andy's dad John is comforted by wife Lucinda who also helps Kim with her grief. Sabrina and Seth announce their engagement to Frannie.

Frannie reports to Kim and Bob that Andy may have a drinking problem. Kim calls John to share the news. Andy passes out in the closed Walsh garage with the motor running. Beau and Pam luckily find him and he's rushed to the hospital.

Betty Stewart becomes almost hysterical as she and husband David talk about Ellen getting custody of their son. Their friend Doug discusses the matter with his wife Claire then heads to the Stewart home to hash things out with them

Tonio is brought in for police questioning, objects. Holden pleads with Lily one more time on his wedding Eve, she turns him down. Holden is wed to Emily in a lavish ceremony, they see Dusty and Lily watching as they step outside.

Ellen reprimanded her granddaughter Emily for her promiscuous behavior with Evan. Susan grows jealous over Larry's concern about Frannie. John tells Tom and Margo he's soon to wed Emma Snyder. Margo awaits her HIV test results.

Oakdale turns out in sincere grief over the tragic passing of Dan Stewart. Bob Hughes and the Reverend give touching tributes. Afterwards at the reception people extend condolences to Kim. Betsy brushes asides Kim's kindness.

While poking around at The Willows Lisa finds a mysterious portrait that looks like her.

Kim confides in Ellen that she believes John is up to something underhanded. Doug and Marcia argue about the ruin of their marriage. David is welcomed back from vacation by his daughters. Annie breaks things off with married Doug.

Marcia recovers enough from her recent accident and following the disintegration of her marriage leaves Oakdale. Marcia informs Jeff she's taking her son Brian and moving to Greece with the money from her divorce settlement.

Don informs his dad Chris his personal life is off limits for discussion. James talks to Inga on the phone about his first wife. James praises Brad, asks Dee about her McFarland financial bequest. Brad daydreams about Dee.

Andy tells Bob how he appreciates his support over a lifetime. Susan stops by Bob's office to report on her recovery, Margo and Tom, walk in. Duke and John catch Lucinda in a lie. Emily tell Paul she will always care for him.

The recently wed Dr. Alex Keith and Valerie depart Oakdale with their adopted Katie to start a new life together.

Valerie Reynolds arrives in Oakdale seeking revenge on former sister-in-law Kim Dixon for a old grudge against her.

Julie tells Andy that she's planning on leaving Oakdale. Derek get jealous of attention Lily gets at Lisa's club. The police bring Buddy in for questioning. Paul sees his father abusing Emily and fires several shots into him killing him.

A bachelor party is thrown for Bob on a yacht. The guests are either in tuxedos or country costumes. Frank's believes his wife is having an affair. Kirk shows up with a black eye.

Joyce shocks Oakdale by turning up very much alive after being presumed dead when her car ran off a bridge. She tells Don her only reason for living is her son Teddy

The Hughes/Stewart wedding reception continues. Lucinda get over agitated when Lily wears a stunning necklace. McClosky plans a gambling raid but learns Haskell has taken Lisa hostage. Marcy runs into her assailant who threatens her.

The party continues after Bob &_Kim's wedding ceremony. Lucinda questions Craig's work habits. Maggie overhears a conversation between Frank and Haskell, believes the worse of her husband. Lisa finds the illegal cash in a safe.

Brian confronts Kirk about gambling debts, Kirk confesses to his insecurities. Sierra presses to meet Lucinda not realizing she's her mother, Craig is evasive. Barbara encourages Marcy to tell Frannie about being assaulted.

The older Hughes siblings return for Bob's wedding to Kim. Francis fixes a meal while the trio reminisce with the mom Nancy. Maggie feels caught in the middle between Cal and Frank. Dan tells Frank he's displeased with his work.
