This was okay, although too many similarities to King Kong for my liking. CGI was decent.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Deep inside the mountain of Dovre, Norway, something gigantic awakens after being trapped for a thousand years. Destroying everything in its path, the creature is fast approaching the capital of Norway, with city-dweller struggling to stop something they thought existed only in Norwegian folklore.
The adventure drama was written and directed by Roar Uthaug with writing help from Espen Aukan. THINGS I LIKED:
Netflix does a great job of exposing audiences to work created by directors and actors from around the world. I love that.
It’s really fun to learn Norwegian lore about trolls.
For fans of the famous “Wilhelm Scream”, you’ll get a kick out of hearing it at the 47:13 mark.
Most Americans won’t recognize any of these actors. I’m always happy to discover new actors around the globe.
Some of the special effects are pretty good. It’s really fun to “travel” to Norway and see the beautiful countryside. I would love to have seen even more shots of the gorgeous fjords and landscapes. THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
I would have liked to see more trolls than just one.
Some of the plot points are pretty weak.
The dialogue is paper-thin and uninspired.
The father/daughter relationship adds an emotional level to the story, yet most viewers are saying they just wanted more action with the troll. You can definitely see their attempt to include elements that make Hollywood monster movies so successful. Sometimes it works here, sometimes it doesn’t. I would love to have seen a scene that featured the rock climbers seeing the face of the troll, like it is featured on the Netflix ad. TIPS FOR PARENTS: The movie is very family-friendly because the main troll isn’t super scary.
The fighting is bloodless.

Not even mediocre due to bad casting. A bad english dub that looked like it was filmed in america with how many non-whites were pointlessly shoehorned in. Did netflix make them do this? Would have been 5/10 without that.

Por más que esta película parezca una típica película de monstruos pero proveniente de la región escandinava, es entretenida y tiene buenos efectos especiales y de sonido, es de 10 comparada con Jurassic World Dominion.

Another outlet for pagan religious hatred with the backdrop of the same modernist **** that can be read all over social media. where the human is the bad guy and the gigantic catholic-eating troll is actually nice in a world full of bad humans. the only satisfying passage is when the hateful father gets killed by the creature he spends half the film worshiping. after such an outpouring of **** one will wonder why netflix continues to lose the customers they spend their life insulting them.

Decent and nice and campy, definitely not taking things too serious which is nice.

norwegian directors are improving their capabilities much more than Hollywood colleagues. one clear example is Roar Uthaug , a relatively young fellow that has in his backpack some very, very interesting movies

I just watched it on Netflix and I have to say it was pretty good. Nora is such a good actress but what I loved about this is that fairy tales so come true if you believe. I wonder if they will come out with troll 2, the reason why is that it was a cliffhanger. Like now I'm wondering, will Nora take your father foot steps and find embrace the magic. I hope they make a second one to it. I would love to see what else happens

No, I just couldn't feel it. There's a brutal imbalance between where the film wants to be funny and where it takes itself too seriously.
There's not much science to it, you either choose one way or you choose the other. Troll chooses poorly and the mix doesn't come out the way I think it was intended. Visually it doesn't look cheap and that's a plus but as entertainment, everyone will have to ponder whether its weak proposal is enough to pass the time or will demand more. I give it about 10 days of life on Netflix before it falls into total oblivion.

A dumb film that tries so hard to be the Norwegian equivalent of 'Godzilla.' The humor is so bad it looks like a 2000's movie. The Roar Uthaugh that shined with 'The Wave' is gone; now he's becoming the new Uwe Boll.
