It’s a diabetically sappy big-screen self-help seminar that should have been titled The Book of Schmaltz.

I think it is a perfect first date film because it is a conversation-starter. It deals with grief and loss and also hope. I think Maisie's character serves much like the boy scout in the animated film "UP" who got roped into an adventure about a floating house. Grief can be both whimsical and surreal. "Thelma and Louise" also dealt with serious themes in an offbeat way and had us cheering for them in the end. For me, this film brought those other two to mind. Game of Thrones fans will not be disappointed.

The first half of the movie was just a boring build-up with full of cliches but after that, it was a nonboring, kinda interesting story with full of cliches. Some of the plots in the story was actually creative but weirdly placed. End of the story is not fully completed which means they gave an opportunity to the watcher to fill it which was unexpected and a nice touch. Recommended watching even if only to see the Maisie William's accent.

This well-meaning debut feature about following your dreams just treads water.

It isn’t creepy, but it isn’t terribly plausible, either. It’s just another movie in which a 30ish white dude finds purpose and learns how to live life again through the love and support of a younger woman who’s more of a concept than a real person.

As well as its plot being eerily similar to that of Demolition, it’s just as misguided.

Pseudo-revelatory bombshells and heart-healing epiphanies inevitably arrive by film’s climax, which only reaffirms that — no matter how it’s cleaned up, reconstituted and transformed into something new — garbage is still garbage.

It was a very predictable and average "dramedy". The movie wasn't particularly funny and it felt like it was trying way too hard to make you feel for the main characters. While the acting was pretty good, the story was very cliché and the characters were pretty stereotypical. It was, overall, an enjoyable film for what it is. It's nothing spectacular, but it's nothing too bad either.

"The Book of Clichés" is a much fitting title. An obvious joke to a paper fin movie. I was actually interested in this for awhile since it's development. The cast was the real reason behind my anticipation, since I've seen great potential from them. Until you see the final product and realize you wasted a few years of your life. There's nothing like actors you respect phoning it in with terrible accents. Especially from Maisie Williams who you clearly hear her actual accent slip in and out every time she yells. Really awful performance and it's a shame coming from a talented actress. Sitting through this movie felt like work and failed to keep my attention. Every thing is so dull and cliché, you practically can see it all coming. At the end, it's just not worth it.
