Talk to Me is an aculmination of years worth viral content creation, mixed in with Australian storytelling. Together, it transformed a comedic short premise into something that gets your heart racing.

Although the movie’s energies dip slightly toward its end, when Mia’s plan to rid the world of the cursed hand requires superhuman acts of strength and derring-do, Talk to Me delivers a series of slash-and-burn shocks that last far longer than 90 seconds.

The animations in the movie are visually impressive, and the storyline is engaging. Personally, I found the film enjoyable and quite thrilling. However, I believe there is a common concern regarding character representation that merits discussion. While having female protagonists can be empowering, it's essential to strive for a balanced representation of characters across all genders and backgrounds. Additionally, I think it's important to approach representation thoughtfully, as it plays a critical role in storytelling. I've observed that many recent films feature strong Black women in roles where they face formidable male opponents. While these portrayals are wrong, it’s beneficial to consider the nuances in how gender dynamics are depicted on screen. Ultimately, I encourage you to watch this movie, as it effectively delivers on its promise to provide a thrilling experience that many horror films aim to achieve.

A perfect little horror tale, with a delicious tension that builds throughout. I really like the character development, which pays off at the end

Hardcore horror fans should expect less of a full-on festival of bloody carnage and more a new-school chiller in line with the first two films by Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) or Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us). Regardless: for a top-ranking summer fright from Down Under, don’t miss Talk To Me.

Tense, stressful and savagely staged, this is a scarily good debut from YouTubers Danny and Michael Philippou. Be sure to hold someone’s hand while watching.

There’s nothing revolutionary about the premise of naive idiots attempting to get closer to death. (See: “Flatliners”). But it’s the ingenious combination of horror and human connection that makes Talk to Me, well, something to talk about.

The film is thematically a bit thin but doesn’t stint on genuine scares, intensity or revulsion.

Talk to Me is hardly a bad horror film, but the disconnect between what was and what could be looms large over the final act.

This A24 film felt like the new age of the company, the pacing of the plot had a sense of waves in the ocean on how things would develop. Seeing a lot of different viewpoints on the “demon” perspective most films don’t show. As well as giving the main character a set purpose in the film you question in this movie, is she a friend or foe, Hero or villain? This film preys on the updated atmosphere Gen Z thrives on. The point of a scary movie is to make the audience believe this can happen to them. Overall I would mind shaking hands.

"Talk to Me" (2022) attempts to deliver a fresh and visceral horror experience, but ultimately struggles with a fragmented narrative and a lack of engaging plot development, particularly in its initial hour. While the film has garnered some attention for its concept, its execution leaves much to be **** film's premise, centered around a group of friends who discover a way to conjure spirits through an embalmed hand, holds initial promise. However, the first hour of the movie feels largely aimless, failing to establish proper character development or a compelling storyline. The narrative lacks a clear flow, jumping between scenes without effectively building suspense or investing the viewer in the characters' **** attempts at horror often feel forced and fail to generate genuine scares. The film relies on shock value and disturbing imagery, but without a strong narrative foundation, these elements lose their impact. The performances, while competent, are hampered by the underdeveloped script, making it difficult to connect with the characters or their struggles.Despite some interesting visual moments and a unique central conceit, "Talk to Me" ultimately fails to capitalize on its potential. The lack of engagement in the first hour and the overall disjointed storytelling prevent it from being a truly memorable or impactful horror film. It's a missed opportunity to deliver a genuinely terrifying and cohesive narrative.
