SummarySet in the American West of 1876, R.I.P.D.2: Rise of the Damed is a spiritual (pardon the pun) sequel to 2013's 'R.I.P.D.' Sheriff Roy Pulsipher (Jeffrey Donovan) isn't too thrilled about finding himself dead after a shoot out with a notorious outlaw gang, but he does get a second chance to return to earth after being recruited by the R.I.P.D. Given how unnecessary Rise Of the Damned is, Leyden’s choice to pare down the original RIPD’s summer-movie bombast into an agreeable, swiftly paced supernatural Western qualifies as a rousing success. On the other hand, anyone working in the RIPD universe should also understand the value of just staying dead.

This is no credit to anybody involved, dull and dumb, badly directed from a really bad script the director took a co-writing credit on. Leave this corpse buried.

Definitely an improvement over the first film. Roy's background and origin story is enjoyable, and the characters have their comedic moments. The jokes are delivered at the right moments (for the most part) to cut the much darker and more serious tone of this sequel. There is some "woke agenda" in this film, but it's kept to a mostly tasteful tone, and doesn't really subvert the overall story. The villain is done well, though his motivation is shallow. It really amounts to "I want to rule the world", blah blah. Overall, a decent film. Not great, but not bad either. I'd check it out, especially if you're a fan of the first one.

I don't know if I should blame the actors or the director but the way all the characters move, act, and react feels so stiff that it could very well be called turn based combat. The story on it's own could hold up but the poor performances just blow it all to hell.

People worked very hard to make this movie look good, and it's always a shame to see hard work go into something that doesn't need to exist. God bless Richard Brake trying his best to put a vaguely intriguing fruity demon-cowboy up against the wet slop that the rest of this film was dredged from. I often watch bad movies because there is something of interest, or they're at least fun to make fun of. I don't like the notion of "cringe" because I find it allows an easy way to step back from genuine expression, but this movie does it for me. It makes me cringe.

While the first R.I.P.D wasn't great, it also wasn't terrible. I mean I'll probably never watch it again unless there's nothing better on but it was still an ok way to pass some time. This, on the other hand is just completely unnecessary. There's nothing good here.
