The incredibly moving post-9/11 drama Reign Over Me proves that behind the funny guy facades of former standup comedians Mike Binder and Adam Sandler are a pair of very serious talents.

It doesn't exploit our emotions about Sept. 11; it simply tells a story that exists because of what happened that day -- one that should resonate with a wide, appreciative audience.

Hugely underrated movie. All main actors deliver incredible performances, especially Don Cheadle who has become one the best actors around. Well written, great story. I loved it.

Binder has set a difficult bar -- to make a funny, sad, original movie about the healing power of not necessarily healing -- and he just manages to clear it.

A strange, black-and-blue therapeutic drama equally mottled with likable good intentions and agitating clumsiness.

Has some nice touches. Cheadle is capable as always, and Paula Newsome kills as his acerbic receptionist.

It's not exactly a surprise the makers of Reign Over Me feel compelled to manufacture a happy ending for a story that really has none. Pity.

Veering between sentimentality and exploitation with a few misguided stops at raunchy sex farce, Reign Over Me never finds a tone to suit its purpose.

Hugely underrated movie, quality story and quality acting from all involved especially Adam Sandler. Sandler really puts in an effort and draws out one of his finest performances as the grief stricken almost to the point of madness Charlie Fineman, who lost his family on September 11th. One thing I really felt that this story does well that most post-9/11 movies don't is let the event get in the way of it's characters and story development. The event is there and it happened, there were/are consequences but it doesn't take over the entire movie and beat you over the head about the event. Its a great buddy film that focuses on friendship helping heal through loss. Overall Score: A

This is a change of pace for Adam Sandler. He puts in a serious effort in this one as a tragedy forces him to try to cope. Don Cheadle is always great and he only adds to the emotion felt in this. The plot is well-thought-out and it is executed well.

Aimless, shapeless movie about a one-dimensional view of loss and ensuing heartache. Subplots run into dry, boring endings. Sandler, the 9-11 widower, is random in his heartbroken madness. He switches from tearful to rude to snarky like a teenager who was in a fender-bender. At times like this you can only dream about asking the people who concieved this film "Why would this person do this in this situation?" In almost every scene. It's maddening.
