Agreeably amusing but unduly extended, Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola suggests what might have resulted had Rodgers and Hammerstein lived long enough to attempt a Broadway musical about the Occupy Wall Street movement.

For the most part "Matru" is neatly energetic, a mix of screwball whimsy and softball seriousness.

A mix of gently outraged populism and low-powered romantic comedy, Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola might have been better with a chunk lopped off its two-and-a-half-hour runtime.

What Vishal Bhardwaj's Indian comedy brings in star power, it lacks in humor.

Save for a couple of visually engaging dance numbers, mostly shot with hand-held digital cameras, MKBKM is dishearteningly banal.

Matru Ki Bijlie Ka Mandola has very little to offer but the film is good and tends to draw you in nicely. For the most part Pankaj Kapur has shown great acting and he also tends to lack in some scenes. But let's face it, M.K.B.K.M is a good movie not a great one but good. So 6/10 for one time watch and kind of worth for theatres.

All the bollywood fans had a lot of expectations from this movie and it fails to deliver. Vishal Bhardwaj is a great director but everything seems wrong this time. Loose script, irrelevant scenes, not-so-good songs (except for title song), below average acting by Imran and Anushka .... The one and only plus point of this movie is extraordinary performance by Pankaj Kapoor who plays a role of a drinker. Only reason people are laughing and enjoying themselves is this man. Comedy scenes of this movie are awesome only due to Pankaj Kapoor. If you are thinking of watching this movie, then don't expect much from movie. Watch it just for Pankaj Kapoor's awesome performance.
