The easy chemistry between the characters reflects the real-life friendship of the two stars and it is clear to see that like Emma and Charlie, Haddish and Crystal get a kick out of each other.

Here Today finds warmth in leads Crystal and Tiffany Haddish, which then allows it to push past some tricky tonal and pacing problems.

Unable to comprehend the mediocre reviews. We found this entertaining and moving. I've recommended it several times.

Crystal, for what it’s worth, stays genuine through the increasingly viscous plot. He still has that warmth beneath his zingers that you don’t find in the frigid comedians of today. Nonetheless, we resent his movie’s aggressive efforts to force us into crying with strained, untruthful moments by the bucketful.

As thin star showcases go, it's an occasionally effective bit of comfort food, arriving as theaters reopen and served with a generous side of schmaltz.

The movie certainly has heart; its purpose is unmistakable. But the spark — for which it has all the necessary ingredients — is somehow missing.

This gentle comedy has some touching moments between Crystal and Tiffany Haddish, playing a struggling singer who befriends his character, but Here Today ultimately proves too saccharine and manipulative to elicit the tearjerking reaction it so strenuously strives to achieve.

A comedy afflicted with terminal unfunniness, Here Today, which is playing in theaters, may well be gone tomorrow.

Billy Crystal is a comedic genius in my opinion. This film that he has written and starred in portrays just that. A heartwarming story which will make you laugh aloud and moisten your eyes later. By far a very entertaining & emotional screenplay. A must see!!!

Very sincere treatment of life, with humor and love. Good job by Crystal and the rest of the cast. I especially liked the evening music by Itzhak Perlman.

Billy Crystal not only stars, but also wrote and directed. Yes, it does have a vanity project angle, but it’s Crystal, so how bad can it be? He plays a veteran comedy writer who befriends a sassy singer (Tiffany Haddish). Their friendship goes deep, especially when it’s revealed that he’s facing dementia (yes, another dementia movie). There are several sketches from the TV show he works on, but none of them are funny. Unfortunately, that’s the state of much of the script, even though there are a number of classic Crystal lines. He also relishes the opportunity to go deep into emotional territory, which he does reasonably well. Haddish is playing this much straighter than usual, but she still manages to let some of her personality shine. This is not a romantic comedy, but a friendship flick with a layer of love. Although the laughs are uneven, there’s a lively pace and two enjoyable performances to make it a respectable production.

This is a bit of a mish mash of a film. It has some funny moments and sad moments too but it felt a bit too bland mid way through, so I can't say I was exactly gripped by it. It took a while before I really laughed, which isn't good for a film primarily categorised as a comedy and the whole inter generational (age gap) aspect felt a bit cliche. It's certainly cheesy at the end and I'd even say it has the feel of an afternoon TV film about it but it's not all bad. It covers some decent themes and it sort of means well. I liked one scene in particular, where Charlie interupts live TV and has a bit of a vent. I feel like this could have been a better film, it has some promise but it doesn't really work properly, not as far as I'm concerned anyway. The cast is decent and there's some witty dialogue but its far from memorable or stand out, so overall I wouldn't recommend this film, no.

The sequel to "When Harry Met Sally..." aged until it becomes a dementia movie: Nora Ephron, Rob Reiner and Meg Ryan disappear, while Billy Crystal directs, produces, writes and acts. The sketches and jokes à la "Saturday Night Live" aren't funny and the tear-jerking moments are ineffective: a failed dramedy on both fronts.
