This one starts at the level of lunacy and keeps on escalating. Next to Filth, "Trainspotting" looks as sedate as "The Polar Express."

With McAvoy acting as if his life depends on it, Filth is the Irvine Welsh film we’ve been waiting years for. Tastier than a deep-fried Mars Bar.

I really don't understand why people underrate this movie so hard. I consider it as one of the best movies i've ever seen!

McAvoy's acting covers up for all the little mistakes. It's just magnificent the way he performs like his life depended on it, but you know what? That's what the game's all about.

James McAvoy wallows in it in his new film, Filth. He embraces the sexual depravity, the drug and alcohol abuse, the bullying, vile language, racism and rank sexism of being a Scottish cop on the loose.

Taking the bad-cop genre to the extreme, Filth lives up to its title and then some, but a no-holds performance by James McAvoy is reason enough to watch.

A self-aware psychopath is a tough character to humanize, especially when he's mired in a stylized jumble of comedy and tragedy.

Like all of the very worst dark comedies, Jon S. Baird’s insipid and self-satisfied Filth isn’t content to merely tap into viewers’ most odious desires. It also insist that it’s revealing them.

Excellent film, amazing, that's the word. James McAvoy is in an excellent performance in this movie. Incredible, i don't have more words to say. You have to see this.

James McAvoy I 've always liked it as an actor, but this movie can 't even save it. The plot as such is not present, just a few scenes combined, added scenes of a sexual nature and everything. Almost everything is mediocre in this film. The film wants to be a black comedy, and in fact it 's some B-movie. In the film 2 great moments: red beard McAvoy and the ending of the film.

The latest film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's work, Filth takes an unflinching eye to the life of an alcoholic, drug addled, careerist misanthrope. Although it is at times tonally uneven, overall what you have is a film that is half parts darkly hilarious and half disturbingly emotional, as such it very much lives up to its namesake.

Desperately trying to be outrageous, it's nothing more that a string of piss-poor third-rate gags delivered in a consistently hysterical over-the-top manner. Strictly for those who find puking, farting, **** and saying "****" hilarious in itself.
