MachineGames haven’t exactly reinvented the FPS or even Wolfenstein here, but they have put together a consistently enjoyable, well-crafted action game and given you the motivation to blast your way through its stringier bits. If this is the New Order for Wolfenstein, then this is a promising start.
Thanks to the quality in both concept and function, this is one of the finest first-person-shooters I've ever played, and the best iteration of one of gaming's most storied franchises.
We would have preferred a greater freedom of action for the levels, rather than the linear and driven that we've found, but they are trifles for a title that deserves to be played at least once.

MachineGames have done a wonderful job capturing the essence of the old-school shooter while avoiding its pitfalls, and presenting it in a way that will attract new audiences. The result is a game that’s as good as you remember its forebears being, even though it facilitates the player in ways that games from a decade ago didn’t. This is Wolfenstein for the new generation, and it’s worthy of the legacy.

It’s an unexpectedly satisfying feat of writing – with some fine voice performances, to boot – for a series that hasn’t received much in the way of accolades for its storytelling in the past.

A nice old school shooter with a great setting, but it has some problems with the enemies' AI and it sometimes takes itself too seriously when, actually, its story is more of the one you'd expect from a B movie.

The greatest problem in Wolfenstein: The New Order, then, is a jarring inconsistency of tone and cohesion... It's almost as if there's a tug of war going between the big dumb shooter and the attempt to be subversive, with the result being a game that's not really slick enough to be an action classic, and not dramatic enough to draw you in.

I died more than when i played Soulsborne games. Not cuz game is hard, all of stupidity, like, enemy teleports, you have to use 100 bullets to kill one guy, game's so slow, u cant run and kill, you have to cover and shoot. Grpahics mehhh, story mehhh, musics mehhh. I was so sick of this game , just try to finosh it, and after i fimished didnt evem lool at ending, jist closed it and delete it.

This game would have been great and figure as a powerful successor to the old and beloved RtCW. Would have been... if it weren't for terrible controls and glitches on PS4. The console version is bad on so many levels that I rage-quit in 4th mission (Eisenwald). Not only the checkpoints are extremly stupid and put you so much in history that you will soon attain hystery, but it is obvious that the creators didn't put much effort in tweaking the game for gamepads. Unlike the heavenly feel of having the game under YOUR control in DOOM, you won't fight enemies here. You will fight the controls. Layout cannot be much customized. If you played DOOM first, you will be raging. If you expect any help in aiming, you will be disappointed. And when the game makes a glitch that during gunfire you will suddenly look behind and get shot in the back, you will delete that game. Especially when you find out the closest checkpoint is 5 minutes back. Graphics. Prepare for being distracted by aliasing. And awful textures. And unequal lighting. And texture popping-in (if you don't have SSD or at least hybrid I switched to). Sound. It will distract you as well. Music cannot be lowered so you could hear what's happening in your vicinity, like someone talking etc. Reaching checkpoint would always scare me as I thought something important happened. AI. Unfair. They killed me through the walls. They spotted me behind their back. Peeking is useless. On medium difficulty. The game doesn't slow or pause on weapon selection (circle system, which is not well-crafted for TVs where nothing is clearly visible BTW). I've finished many FPSs on PS4. This is the worst so far. Maybe on PC I'll be allowed to enjoy it, but not on console. Bad port.
