UFO 50 may be inspired by an era that's several generations ago, but an incredible amount of imagination and work went into making this collection of games more than just about evoking nostalgia. The collection also manages to feel fresh and innovative, delivering thrills and the feeling of discovery at nearly every turn. It's unlike anything I've played, and represents a passion and love for the medium in such a special way.

Judging UFO 50 is a challenge, even just for the sheer amount of content it contains, with an incredible array of ideas, mechanics, and concepts that you’ll find within this alternate universe. Through its video games, UFO 50 narrates a historical moment, an era that never actually existed but lives within our memories, sensations, and the emotions we felt as children, back when this world was still unexplored. At the same time, it requires a certain devotion, a passion for a very specific kind of retro gaming and a lot of patience to explore.

UFO 50 is like stumbling across a time capsule and discovering a wealth of lost knowledge inside. And yet, it’s entirely a singular work of fiction. That by itself is deeply fascinating and makes this thing worth playing. Even if you pass over most of the games and only find a few that stick with you from a fun perspective, the depth on a conceptual level is absurd and gratifying to simply think about. We’re living at a time in which older games are vanishing from both physical reality and our sort of collective cultural well at an increasing rate, when remakes are seen as replacements for original work and curiosity to seek out history is dwindling unless there’s a purchasable remaster. UFO 50 is fun to play and take at face value, but it also highlights how age really isn’t a detriment to having a great time and engaging with games.

There are a couple of duds, but it's hard to find fault with a single product that delivers this much entertainment. There's a lot of experimentation, some really creative mechanics and ideas, and all of it is wrapped in a consistent and believable audio/visual presentation style that is impossible to dislike. My favorite, Night Manor, is worth the price of admission alone, and there's at least ten more games you'll like just as much. An awesome product you definitely ought to buy.

I'm genuinely shocked at how overhyped this title is... Almost every game out of the 50 is frustrating, irritating, and simply bad for me. It's a waste of time and money. I highly recommend quickly playing through some games within the first 2 hours so you can get a refund if you don’t enjoy it like I didn’t.I was really shocked by how horrible my experience was... I had heard so many positive reviews on YouTube, and I’ve never been so let down by my expectations. This title is so overhyped, and it’s just sad. The controls in every game are clunky, imprecise, and irritating. Enemy AI is way too high, making the games very hard and almost impossible to feel anything besides frustration and anger. There are some good ideas, but every one of them is ruined by shallow gameplay and pointless difficulty. If you really want to experience some nostalgia, you’re better off playing NES, GBC, or GBA games

The developers of UFO 50 took on a monumental task in creating 50 unique games for their fictional collection but they accomplished it in wildly successful fashion. Not only are the large majority of these games excellent, but when taken as a fictional canon, they make each other even better. Seeing how they bounce off each other, interact, and tell a story just in the way they evolve is a wonderful experience that’s unlike any other game I’ve played.

The astounding compilation UFO 50, which is based on a fictional game company from the 1980s, packs in so many completely different genres that choosing one is like opening a door to an ingenious Advent calendar.

The games here are by and large as fun to play as they are interesting conceptually.

UFO 50 is one of the best gamesever created, every single game is made with love and care, nad even if some arent the best, most of them are really good! If you dont like difficult challenges, retro graphics and gameplay in general (spending a lot of time trying to learn every single aspect ****), this isnt for you, but for everyone else, I promise you'll find more than one game you'll like!
Gamplay usually starts simple, but the more you look into it, the more complex mechanics become. Maybe barbuta is not the most welcoming game, but once you get past some trolls from the devs and understand the mechanics, you'll get so invested its the only thing that will be on your mind for a while, and thats just the first of the 50!!!

Pretty fun little hodgepodge of ideas. I'd really say only 15 or so of the 50 were actually fun enough to keep playing, but I like the spirit of what they were trying to do. Great little snacky fun but not a great amount of depth.

I love the concept and the nostalgia factor, having been alive in the 80's myself. However, it brings me no pleasure to say that in 2024, most of these games in the collection are hard to get into. The graphics, unfortunately, are so primitive that I had a hard time staying hooked. Among the 50 games, I counted only 11 that I actually liked. And among those, I had only beaten 3 of them. Most of the games are too difficult for me or don't offer the ability to save at certain points, requiring me to start the whole game over. I know there is a passcode terminal which may allow you to skip to the point in the game you got up to, but I never bothered. With that said, I really did enjoy Mortol, Kick Club, Block Koala, Camouflage, Campanella, The Big Bell Race (beaten), Warptank (beaten), Pingolf, Night Manor (beaten), Elfazar's Hat and Seaside Drive. Mortol II was a great concept, but I struggled to progress and lost patience. Cyber Owls was cool, too, but too difficult for me. But honestly, I would rather just play some games that actually existed in the 80's. Regardless, kudos to the team who put a lot of effort and love into these games, as it really shows. The pixel art is fantastic and some games have some good soundtracks.

Honestly very overrated for being "artsy". Idk if people did never play old games or why they're excited about it now in this collection, but i can't see anything amazing about these 50 games. Quality over Quantity.
