Despite its difficulty, Sektori is pretty much a perfect arcade-style twin-stick shooter and has fully earned its score. Even after hours of gameplay, I still don’t feel particularly skilled, but that is by no means the game’s fault – quite the opposite. I’m aware that I’m only at the beginning of my journey and nowhere near satisfied yet, and I intend to continue my “studies” with the game so that I can climb as high as possible on the global rankings. Sektori is a modern work of art that justifies every one of its gameplay design choices with style and craftsmanship. Instead of mocking the player, it rewards improvement fairly as skill grows.

Sektori is brutal; it looks to crush you under its sheer force at every turn, such that getting to the game’s end will be one of the most satisfying moments that you’ll find in gaming in 2025. It looks beautiful, is incredibly overstimulating, hates your guts, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sektori is a return to a style of twin-stick shooters that we don't see nearly enough of these days. Addictive, exciting and set to a banging soundtrack, this is what we've been missing. It's just let down by being a bit too tough for its own good

If you love Geometry Wars or twin stick shooters in general, this is the game for you. Addictive, varying modes where you can chase highscores and something like a rogue-like mode on top.

I don't have many criticisms of Sektori. I mean, I didn't encounter any critical bugs, the game runs beautifully, and the gameplay is perfect. Perhaps the absence of a story and the focus on casual players are points of contention, but there's something beautiful about admitting that a product doesn't work for you: you let it shine for its audience. And here, if you're a fan of spaceship games and cross-screen shootouts, or grew up playing hits like Galaga and others, you've just found your new addiction. Sektori is spectacular. I recommend it even to newcomers to the ****, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication! Google: Patobah

Sektori is an adrenaline-fueled, edge-of-your-seat assault on the senses. I barely blinked, I barely breathed, and I’m seldom so enthralled with a video game, even if I can’t manage to beat it.

I didn't think I'd ever see a twinstick shooter again as epic, intense, and fun as Geometry Wars and Super **** HD.... Yet here we are... It's got the music, the effects, the action, and some new ideas to help readability and variety in gameplay. All that baked into some ace tier geometry wars style action.

Sektori is pure. Sektori is addictive. The vibrant chaos amidst heart-pumping techno music will leave players in a trance-like state, lost in an explosion of particles, color and skill. Destined to be an arcade classic, the intense, shifting levels beg for replay after replay to master its finely-tuned difficulty curve. Sektori proves, if anything, arcade is not dead, it merely needs new masters.

One of the greatest twin-stick shooters ever made, with some clever and original ideas married to a thumping soundtrack and appropriately minimalist visuals.

Made by solo developer and ex-Housemarque programmer Kimmo Lahtinen, Sektori is the closest thing you're going to get to the sweet rush of the likes of Resogun without revisiting Housemarque's back catalogue. It's tough as nails, but with eye-melting visuals and fast-paced twin-stick shooter action, you simply won't be able to get enough of it.

If you're a fan of twin-stick shooters then you have to play Sektori as it's one of the best representations of the genre in modern gaming.

Better than Ball x Pit, which was my GOTY until Sektori invaded my senses. Utter perfection.

Greatest twin stick shooter I have ever played. This former housemarque dev (and his brother who made the killer soundtrack) captured lightning in a geometric bottle.

Geometry Wars wrote it in stone, and Sektori brought it home. This is easily In my opinion the best twin stick shooter ever made, by quite a significant margin. When people talk of twin sticks in the future, Sektori will be the name that rises above the rest (unless we ever get a Sektori 2). Almost everything about it is a direct improvement to the tried and tested twin stick formula- the gameplay mechanics, enemy variety, level design, bosses, alternate modes, skill ceiling. This is basically what happens when you take the easy to get into arcade appeal of geometry wars and give it a skill ceiling as high as games like Dodonpachi with a moody aesthetic and a no-holds-barred approach to its intensity. True snowball based dynamic design that focuses on deep, dynamic and dense decision making and positional strategy based gameplay. It is absolutely superlative, and one of the first arcade games that genuinely has appeal for any arcade shmup lover, whether you’re a casual arcade fan that loves a round of geometry wars here and there, or a masochistic super player/enjoyer of brutal Japanese shmups from the likes of CAVE Co. or Raizing. Nearly perfect game.

So I blindly bought this, seeing the insane reviews, being a huge fan of shmups since the 80’s. I love both classic shmups and more modern twin stick variants. I also like Housemarque’s former work. So to put it simply, this game did not stick with me, while I feel that the smallest changes could turn this around. First I find it essential for a good shooter to be visually clean, but in this game I died alot, not knowing what hit me, due to the excessive use of lighting and effects going on. Second I simply did not find the gameplay satisfying, partly because of the above, but equally because I did not feel the impact when shooting the enemies. It sounds more like hitting a very soft pillow, than actually making something explode.. Soundtrack rocks though. An old man goes back to play his Toaplan Collection.
SummarySektori is an intense, fast paced twin-stick shooter infused with hard hitting techno music. A game where the high-adrenaline gameplay, visuals, and music come together to transport you into another state of consciousness.
