It’s sadly prescient of the world we actually live in, and maybe that’s why Road 96’s message of survival and perseverance make the impact it does, at least the first time around.

Ця гра мене здивувала, в хорошому сенсі. Сюжет тут звісно не хапає зірок з неба, але всеодно залишається хорошою короткою історією. Персонажі тут різноманітні та цікаві, вони мені подарували багато емоцій і я встиг навіть прив'язатись до них за такий короткий час, особливо сподобались грабіжники, далекобійник і хлопчик Алекс. Саме як на мене цікаве в цій грі - атмосфера. Гра дарує гравцю те саме відчуття подорожі, коли ти, здавалося б, не маєш нічого, але тобі нічого і не потрібно, ти просто йдеш, зустрічаєш різні події і різних людей, незнаєш що тебе чекає далі, і саме це робить цю гру особливою. Те саме можна сказати і про геймплей. Гра дає тобі побути працівником заправки, грабіжником, покидати мішки з грошима в поліцейських, пограти настільний хокей і багато іншого. Гра має свій візуальний стиль, але він трохи низької якості. Дизайн рівнів тут також не дуже сильний, але він тут і не повинен бути таким. Короче, гра мене здивувала і виявилась набагато краще, ніж непорозуміння, випущене в якості приквелу.

Road 96 becomes, thanks to its fine writing and its ability to make you think and reflect, into one of the best independent video games of 2021. An excellent journey of encounters with your ideals and, above all, with those of others.

Great story that is sure to have you hooked, but even after your first playthrough and you know what happens, you'll still want to play this game over and over, and two playthroughs can be completely different because of all the choices you can make. Some scenes will make you laugh; some will make you emotional, and some will build up tension better than a lot of horror games. This game is an absolute must-play.

Certainly Road 96 isn't a game for the masses, it's a bit of a niche. But this does not mean that it cannot please those who want to try something new and special. If you like compelling and captivating stories, backstories and slightly daring adventures, if you love the fact that every choice made has a weight on the unfolding of events, then it is a title that you could and should try. It is certainly an experience different from many others that in the end they all look a bit alike.

Even with some messy execution on its political themes, Road 96 succeeds at capturing a fractious journey on the road and the turmoil of modern American politics. A deeper exploration of Petria’s history may give more context to the game’s narrative of taking change of your own destiny. But without this background, it ends up oversimplifying its premise by positing that the only barrier to equity and justice is a strongman in a suit. In reality, injustice runs far deeper.

Road 96 me surpreendeu muito. O que aparentava ser um jogo de uma simples roadtrip, se tornou um dos jogos mais impressionantes que já tive o prazer de jogar. As relações, os cenários, os gráficos "cartoon", os personagens e o desenvolvimento da história, simplesmente incrível.

Interesting game with some complex ideas. Unfortunately, it dose not stick the landing. Characters are very one note and don't really help evolve or examine the issues that the game is trying to tackle. 4/10, Too big a bite of the pie :(

Bon le jeu est bof... je ne comprend pas les notes aussi hautes qu'il a reçu. Le jeu est ennuyant, et on sent qu'il n'y a pas grand chose à faire. Le jeu est tellement linéaire que je préfère regarder un film avec la même histoire que faire des choix qui n'ont aucune importance. Franchement, ça vaut pas le coup. C'est une perte d'argent et de temps. Le jeu est long pour ce qu'il propose. J'ai remarqué un gros point négatif : la musique du jeu se lance à n'importe quel moment, ce qui est très désagréable, et en plus elle ne correspond parfois pas du tout au mood de la scène.
