We have to admit that the single player in this game has no potential. Not everyone wants to play all day long, exploring the map, like in Fallout – it just gets boring. Rage 2 could become a perfect Battle Royale experience or pretty simple MMO, but as the game, designed for single player walkthrough, it can keep your interest only for a couple of evenings, perhaps forcing you to come back from time to time to explore all corners of this world.

Rage 2 can be an enjoyable experience… to a certain extent. Unfortunately, you will hit that wall in just a few hours.

Beautiful and varied world, high-speed vehicle combat, fine-tuned gunfights - on its own, every aspect of this game is great. But Rage 2 as a whole is somehow less than sum of its parts. [Issue#238, p.34]

Rage 2 is a game that frequently has an unfair reputation, but it is actually a hidden gem that prioritises pure, high-octane fun over everything else. When you compare it to the first Rage, it is a massive improvement in almost every department. The world is no longer just a collection of brown corridors, and it has instead become a vibrant and neon-soaked playground where the combat is fluid, impactful, and genuinely satisfying. If you enjoy games that let you combine powerful abilities with tight gunplay, this is arguably one of the best experiences available. The open world itself is excellent and provides a beautiful backdrop for the carnage. However, the game does suffer from a notably short main story that could have benefited from significantly more content. Because the narrative is so brief, you quickly notice the repetitive nature of the gameplay loop. Often, the structure consists of completing Mission A and then driving to the opposite side of the map to initiate Mission B. While the driving mechanics are solid, the constant back-and-forth can become tedious after several hours of play. One of the most frustrating aspects is the limited fast-travel system, which is currently restricted to the main trader towns. If there were more strategic locations to unlock, the experience would have been much more rewarding. For instance, rather than just clearing out generic bandit camps, the developers should have included a faction system that allowed players to permanently take over Shrouded hideouts or bases. Converting these conquered outposts into fast-travel points would have provided a much-needed sense of progression and made navigating the vast map far more convenient. Even with these gripes, I personally found Rage 2 to be a total blast. It became my favourite "low stakes" game, the one I would load up just to enjoy the incredible movement and gunplay whenever I wanted to relax. It knows exactly what it wants to be, and I think it succeeds as a loud, colourful, and incredibly smooth shooter. While I can see the flaws that others point out, the pure joy I felt during the combat encounters made it well worth my time. If you are looking for a post-apocalyptic adventure that is actually fun to play, I highly recommend giving it a chance.

Gun-play sobresaliente y divertodo marca de la casa en un juego terriblemente malo en todo lo demás.

Since we took our first steps in Avalanche Studios' post-apocalypse, we have had a hard time putting the control aside. The combination of an open world, mutant freaks and super powers is too entertaining, actually far above our expectations. Along with the eminent control and the dynamic battles, it makes Rage 2 one of the year's most addictive titles to date.

I have to say that RAGE 2 is absolutely an improvement over its predecessor but there is still room for improvement. From a gameplay perspective, the combat is on point for both the in and out of car experiences. Specific landmarks within the world are a joy to experience, but it seems like a good portion of the open world suffers from being too lifeless and the plot suffers from being too inconsequential to the overall context of the game. RAGE 2 is nearly there, but the environments could have benefited from a bit of condensing to breathe a bit more variety and a little less wasteland into them. Oh and as a parting note, crank the difficulty up when you start the game to get the most out of the combat experiences.

Awsome game. I wish a part 3 would come. ID software never disappoints. They should have made more advertising. Many people dont even know it exists.

In Rage 2, you move fast and kill faster. It's the synthesis between id Software's 2016 reboot of Doom and Avalanche Studios' Mad Max, bringing together some of the best ideas from both. Moment-to-moment play on foot is fantastic with each weapon and ability just opening up your options for destruction. Driving could be improved and it's a little on the shorter side, but Rage 2 is a damned good time.

Rage 2 could have been so much more. The gun action feels and looks awesome, but the world in which it all happens is just too flat and the story doesn't help either.

Exciting FPS mechanisms are accompanied by an inadequate open-world, a disappointing story and very short duration. RAGE 2 could be much better.

Rage 2 takes Doom-like gunplay and puts in just another dull open world game that doesn’t do anything particularly memorable.

Rage 2's brilliant shooting fails to make up for its shortcomings everywhere else. Because even though there's fun to be had in the Wasteland, the shooting fails to keep me wanting more after not too many hours of gameplay. And when that happens, the lackluster story, the shallow characters and the repetitive mission systems all reveal what a bland experience this really is.

RAGE 2 is criminally underrated. If you're into fast-paced, visceral combat with incredible physics and destruction effects, this game delivers in spades. Every shot you fire has weight — enemies react with satisfying ragdoll physics, explosions ripple through the environment, and the feedback is incredibly polished. You can tell real care went into the combat mechanics and graphical effects. From bullet impact to vehicle crashes, it's chaos done right. Yes, the open world is huge but feels a bit empty, and the story is basically forgettable. But I genuinely didn’t care — the core gameplay is so tight and fun that I found myself ignoring the narrative and just diving into the action. If you’re the kind of player who values moment-to-moment gameplay, fluid gunplay, and stylish destruction over deep storytelling, RAGE 2 is absolutely worth your time. Especially now, post-patch, it runs great even on PS4. Don’t trust the hate — this is a solid 8/10 for sheer fun.

Performance is bad, running the game above 60fps and 1080p gives problem. That out of the table, game itself is boring, it feels like a cheap Far Cry with some Doom stuff in it. After 2 hours there's nothing in the game that makes me want to come back.

Game just boring and short. Very short. There are only 5 quests and you can beat it under 6 hours, and there is nothing left to do. Every sidequests location is copy of previous one. Yes, gunplay is nice, and pretty various, but honestly i used only two guns and never used special abilities on hard difficulty. Ofc you can use abolities but it's kind of pointless. Besides of main quest it just a driving to point on map, shot, loot, repeat. But why someone wants to spend time on this boring routine? Game give no prize for exploring and looting, yes you get crafting materials, ability points etc, but you don't need non of these things to beat the game. If Rage 2 was a linear shooter it be fine. But if we talking about open world, exploring game, for if so Rage 2 boring, pointless and doesn't worth time spending.
SummaryDive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, the gods of the first-person shooter to deliver a carnival of carnage where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
