Since we took our first steps in Avalanche Studios' post-apocalypse, we have had a hard time putting the control aside. The combination of an open world, mutant freaks and super powers is too entertaining, actually far above our expectations. Along with the eminent control and the dynamic battles, it makes Rage 2 one of the year's most addictive titles to date.
I have to say that RAGE 2 is absolutely an improvement over its predecessor but there is still room for improvement. From a gameplay perspective, the combat is on point for both the in and out of car experiences. Specific landmarks within the world are a joy to experience, but it seems like a good portion of the open world suffers from being too lifeless and the plot suffers from being too inconsequential to the overall context of the game. RAGE 2 is nearly there, but the environments could have benefited from a bit of condensing to breathe a bit more variety and a little less wasteland into them. Oh and as a parting note, crank the difficulty up when you start the game to get the most out of the combat experiences.
In Rage 2, you move fast and kill faster. It's the synthesis between id Software's 2016 reboot of Doom and Avalanche Studios' Mad Max, bringing together some of the best ideas from both. Moment-to-moment play on foot is fantastic with each weapon and ability just opening up your options for destruction. Driving could be improved and it's a little on the shorter side, but Rage 2 is a damned good time.
Rage 2 could have been so much more. The gun action feels and looks awesome, but the world in which it all happens is just too flat and the story doesn't help either.
Rage 2's brilliant shooting fails to make up for its shortcomings everywhere else. Because even though there's fun to be had in the Wasteland, the shooting fails to keep me wanting more after not too many hours of gameplay. And when that happens, the lackluster story, the shallow characters and the repetitive mission systems all reveal what a bland experience this really is.
RAGE 2 is criminally underrated. If you're into fast-paced, visceral combat with incredible physics and destruction effects, this game delivers in spades. Every shot you fire has weight — enemies react with satisfying ragdoll physics, explosions ripple through the environment, and the feedback is incredibly polished. You can tell real care went into the combat mechanics and graphical effects. From bullet impact to vehicle crashes, it's chaos done right. Yes, the open world is huge but feels a bit empty, and the story is basically forgettable. But I genuinely didn’t care — the core gameplay is so tight and fun that I found myself ignoring the narrative and just diving into the action. If you’re the kind of player who values moment-to-moment gameplay, fluid gunplay, and stylish destruction over deep storytelling, RAGE 2 is absolutely worth your time. Especially now, post-patch, it runs great even on PS4. Don’t trust the hate — this is a solid 8/10 for sheer fun.
Performance is bad, running the game above 60fps and 1080p gives problem. That out of the table, game itself is boring, it feels like a cheap Far Cry with some Doom stuff in it. After 2 hours there's nothing in the game that makes me want to come back.
Game just boring and short. Very short. There are only 5 quests and you can beat it under 6 hours, and there is nothing left to do. Every sidequests location is copy of previous one. Yes, gunplay is nice, and pretty various, but honestly i used only two guns and never used special abilities on hard difficulty. Ofc you can use abolities but it's kind of pointless. Besides of main quest it just a driving to point on map, shot, loot, repeat. But why someone wants to spend time on this boring routine? Game give no prize for exploring and looting, yes you get crafting materials, ability points etc, but you don't need non of these things to beat the game. If Rage 2 was a linear shooter it be fine. But if we talking about open world, exploring game, for if so Rage 2 boring, pointless and doesn't worth time spending.
SummaryDive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, the gods of the first-person shooter to deliver a carnival of carnage where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
