Overwatch 2 is a free to play game, and I’d definitely recommend trying it out if you haven’t to see how you feel about the gameplay and to see how well it runs on Steam Deck. Despite its flaws, it is still worth playing, but some of the decisions with how certain content has been handled in-game are weird. Overwatch 2 is yet to reach the highs of the original Overwatch, but it is still a great multiplayer game to play on Steam Deck. I enjoyed Overwatch 2 quite a bit on Switch despite the visual and performance cutbacks, but it really shines on Steam Deck.
While the game is called Overwatch 2, this all seems more like a transition to a full new game. The biggest changes are dropping the 6v6 gameplay in favour of a much more exciting 5v5 format. Three new heroes are also available, along with a new game mode, but for a final and real verdict, everyone should wait for the upcoming PvE segment.
Overwatch 2 delivers high-octane multiplayer gameplay and a wholly improved version of the much-loved hero shooter. Now that the dust has settled, it’s becoming clear that despite a number of teething issues, the game manages to do what many sequels struggle to; build upon a successful game, and make it even better.

A very good option among FPS shooters, it's a game that receives active updates, has good optimization, and is non-toxic for its players; you can play it both competitively and for fun.

They destroyed my favorite game. By listening to casual noobs, they've literally unbalanced the game to an extreme degree. With 3-5 smurfs in every match, the games have become incredibly unbalanced. I'm not having any fun at all anymore. Constantly being in 1v5 situations with 40 kills and 20k damage, yet still losing. I pick Mizuki and consistently have top damage, top kills, and top healing, but we still lose. My competitive team and I are withdrawing from this game, which has become a super toxic noob-casual garbage dump. In short, thank you Blizzard for destroying OW2, which was an amazing competitive game, with this completely idiotic casual garbage that is OW3.0

Overwatch 2 plays brilliantly. It’s a wonderful shooter full of depth, with unique heroes to master, maps to learn, and hours of your life to lose all over again.

Overwatch 2 is a worthy successor to the original Overwatch that doesn’t so much reinvent the wheel as it does improve upon it. While it does have its issues, the core gameplay and improved UI make for a fun and fully realized sequel.

This game is up there with my favorite games of all time. Blizzard def messed it up with Overwatch 2, but now this game is back.

Overwatch 2 simply exists in an awkward transition phase between the game it was and the game it wants to be. It's not a revolution by any stretch, at least not how the original game was, but it's still Overwatch and that means it's still a ton of fun.

It’s difficult to look back on a game like Overwatch and wonder what it could’ve been if it had been delayed, and released as a complete, full-priced package with none of the extras: no feel-bad Battle Passes, with the story mode and Hero Missions available to all from the get-go. It’s not all doom and gloom of course; I’ve been in denial about the change in direction for PvP, but tens of hours of playtime have convinced me that the new 5v5 format will lead to more exciting experiences going forward. For my fellow lore and character enthusiasts, well, there’s always next year.

This is, really, a relaunch dressed up as a sequel, although the game remains as fun as ever. Some balancing issues and, of course, a questionable progression system hinder the potential of Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 is as fun and fast-paced as the original game, but its free-to-play structure sullies the experience a bit.

While Overwatch 2 adds a host of heroes and features to Blizzard’s iconic FPS game, its PvP feels more like a simple content update than a full blown sequel.

Overwatch: Not a return to glory in the slightest at all. Trying to find former glory, but stuck in a mist of fog. 7/10.

*Overwatch 2* aims to build on the success of its predecessor, introducing several significant changes while preserving the core gameplay that made *Overwatch* a phenomenon. The shift to a 5v5 team format (from 6v6) is a major change, enhancing the speed and intensity of matches and reducing overall chaos, though it requires teams to adapt strategies and redefine roles. The reworked hero abilities and new additions enrich gameplay options, though balance adjustments remain a critical **** game introduces new maps and modes, including *Push*, which brings a fresh dynamic and demands new strategies. *Overwatch 2* also expands the narrative with PvE (Player vs Environment) missions that allow players to dive deeper into the characters’ stories and motivations. However, while the PvE missions are interesting, they have yet to achieve the depth that some fans anticipated, remaining largely short and sporadic experiences.Visually, the game has been upgraded with improved lighting effects and more refined details, yet it retains its iconic, colorful style. The soundtrack and sound design remain engaging and enhance immersion, much like in the original game. However, changes to the progression system—with the introduction of a battle pass and fewer free cosmetic rewards—have faced criticism from the **** summary, *Overwatch 2* introduces meaningful updates to gameplay and storytelling while retaining the vibrant, team-based action that defines the series, though certain changes have sparked mixed reactions among fans.

3 years into this game and blizzard still can’t release a new hero without them being comically broken at launch. Only give skins to certain hero’s. The support roster end up doing a comical more amount of damage than half the dps roster could ever achieve. The one thing they said they wanted to remove was any kind of stun ability like Mei’s freeze ability from the first game only for them to bring it back and add more stun or hinder abilities than ever before. PvE is still never being added. Blizzards idea of new content is more skins for Kiriko, and a **** new game mode you’ll play once and never again. The community is awful from ranks gold to diamond, console lobbies can have people using mouse and keyboard. Custom games are very limiting and overwatch’s fanbase uses it to create an SA simulator which is just absolutely disgusting. They added hero bans and map voting because they can’t balance the game and 60% of maps are just hot garbage. One of the modes clash isn’t in comp and honestly in my opinion it’s miles better than push yet that still remains in comp. 5v5 is honestly the worst choice blizzard could’ve ever made, I’m convinced they only did it to make it seem like overwatch 2 is vastly different to overwatch 1. I mentioned how they didn’t add the PvE earlier and that’s only partly true because they did add 3 missions like how they did with the archive missions in overwatch 1 except these ones cost £12.99 which is absolutely ridiculous. The pricing in general for skins and bundles is classic blizzard where some skins/bundles will end up being the same price as other better games. In fact here’s a list of games you could buy instead of the Le sserafim mega bundle which roughly translates to £50-60; both hollow knight games, Persona 5, The orange box, Red dead redemption 2, Elden ring, final fantasy 7-10, Kingdom hearts collection, Spiderman, Dark souls 1+2, All **** versions of Skyrim, Metal gear solid Delta, hell when the entire yakuza series is on sale it’s cheaper than this bundle. The only pros of actually playing this horrendously made sequel to one of the best shooters in 2016 is that it retains the variety between play styles (even if some are just pointless because of certain supports) and the characters themselves are all diverse and there’ll definitely be quite a few you’ll like based off their lore. But that can’t save overwatch 2 from being one of the most awful and unbalanced games made by a developer that used to make games of the highest quality.

Amazing game in many respects.. I've played for 3000+ hours and I'm a top 500 support player: I think with a solid update, it'd genuinely get a 10/10 from me. The depth in terms of the hero interactions is unlike any game. ... but it would require: 1. Fixing the servers. 30% of games are Singapore (I live in Australia) and you have a constant 150 ping. 2. Remove or rework the terrible heroes in the game (i.e. moira, mauga, orisa, sombra) where you don't require a good understanding of the game to play them for various reasons (i.e. easy escapes and insane survivability through using broken abilities).
