OutRun2
Even after all these years OutRun’s core-dynamics have virtually remained unchanged. The new, slicker looking OutRun retains that Sega magic, something that eludes most games nowadays, so it’s testament to both Sumo and Sega for bringing something that’s plain fun to pick up and play.

The fact that it's more of an arcade racer and not nearly as aggressive as "Burnout 3" makes it a game for players who want a more chilled, yet still very entertaining drive. As far as sheer quality of production is concerned, it comes very close to beating its rival, being incredibly polished on all fronts.

An experience every bit as thrilling, addictive, and shallow as the original. [Dec 2004, p.92]

Really fun game! I love how relaxing and colorful it is and how it looks, the different modes, different things you can do. I love the arcade feel and how fast you go. I do wish there were more cars in it though. Being a Sega game I really like it and Outrun2 is definitely an enjoyable sit down game. Probably not one you’ll spend hours playing, a fun one to revisit, it is enjoyable and delivers that. This is a game you can play for a half hour and put down, and I love those type of games.

The moment I started Outrun 2 on my Xbox, the nostalgia hit in. If you expect a Need For Speed or Burnout, don´t read further. But if your a oldschool arcade racing fan, this is clearly your game! Some folks call this game outdated, I call it a cult classic! Great, simpler times!

The best kind of sequel, one that pushes the series forward while retaining everything that made it great in the first place. It's a shame that some people won't dig its goofy style, because OutRun2 is a superb arcade driving game and the best sequel Sega's done in years.

The game is charming in its simplicity. [Holiday 2004, p.80]

Armchair Empire
Outrun 2 may not be the best racer out there but the infusion of nostalgia, speed and fun make for a satisfying arcade racing experience.

Stuff
This sturdy racing game features solid racing mechanics and a decent sense of speed, but it's a little unapologetically corny at times.

A fantastic sequel, but the age of the franchise definitely shows.

There's an undeniable appeal to nailing that perfect drift, sliding in past the finish line with just a few seconds to spare. Especially in a Ferrari with a cute girl in the passenger seat.

Gamezilla!
But the problem is it’s a port of a very dated arcade game. The graphics are cartoony, the sound effects are more for nostalgia than any other sort of enjoyment and the game mechanics are infantile. There are a total of two buttons you use for the game.
