Other than the stylish cel-shaded visuals, there's hardly anything new here... Seriously, I haven't seen camera problems this bad since the early days of PS1. [Nov 2003, p.138]

If the controls were tighter and the targeting system sharpened up, Mega Man X7 could have been a killer update. As-is, the game is a lethargic has-been.
33
The 2D gameplay hits some bright spots but is hampered by the new, boring 3D sections. There isn't much to keep you playing other than to relive a shred of Mega Man gameplay in 3D.

Oh its true what everyone said. It's a nightmare without the nightmare virus. Aiming system is not ready, point of view also horrible. Theres a lot of stages that i dont wanna go back ever again. Boss fight that could be great if theres a real auto lock become so ackward. The only redeemable is the fact that the sigma fight is not difficult. And whos idea to think that burn to the ground is such a good memory building.

i came into this game expecting to give it a low rating, sure i know i wasn't gone think the game was as bad as people said it was, i still thought i give the game 3 or **** BOY WAS I WRONG! this game is great! not only do they not pull the "everyone is infected therefore bad" storyline i don't really like in X "(since it removes the inregulers agency for the story) no its something else this time.
gameplay is soild for the most part, that being said the game lacks anyway to lock onto a target, a thing that most of these 3d games have
people also complain about X taking a break and act like he went full all pacifist or something, no X has just had enough of the violence, so his taking more or less a break form being a hunter, which is in character for him, X has always hated violence and asked himself many times if it really was the right thing, anyone who seen the credits for X1 to 3 should know this (looking att you projay!)
the game also has this issue where when you wall jump you kinda jump farther away form the wall then towards it? its not a big issue, the game doesn't have that much wall jumping in it and so long as you don't hold the dash butten you should be alright
so if you have an easy and cheap way to get your hands on it give this game a shot and form your own opinions on it, and you might be suprised to see what you think.

This game is very soothing when you fight Flame Hyenard. He comes up to you and says "Hey (Your character.) Let's just relax and sit back and I will do some asmr for you." Then he whispers "Burn" "Burn to the ground" and it's so soothing you two become best friends and sigma gets cancer.

The game shines graphically. Capcom uses a clever mix of 3D textures and cel shading. The backgrounds are full of vivid colors, the explosions are clear and there are even some neat shadowing effects.

Mega Man's bread and butter has always been the run-n-gun, and X7 continues that tradition admirably. [Nov 2003, p.84]

Mega Man X7 is a decent follow-up to the travesty of a game that was Mega Man X6, but it will still come off as a lacking action title for the gamers that have never been interested in the series. Nice try, Capcom.
60
The added elements like Axel’s powers and the Reploids that need rescuing add something new and entertaining to the mix, but with such a lackluster presentation, most of that effort gets pushed aside by and otherwise bland experience.
53
It's just a mess whenever it thrusts you into confusing fully 3D levels. Here, the ugly, high-contrast backdrops look like a Lite-Brite melting underwater. [Nov 2003, p.186]
40
But what ultimately tips the scales against Mega Man X7 is the series' continued insistence on being difficult to the point of absurdity. Three lives and no save points other than at the end of long levels just doesn't cut it.
30
Absolutely unacceptable. MMX7 not only fails to be fun, but barely works right.

Believe it or not, I don't feel like this is the worst X game. It really got on a bad foot with me, but that was due to using Zero (Zero is factually bad in this game). Once I started using Axel and later X the game became less annoying, but it really didn't stop a lot of design problems this game had. Weird I-frames, inconsistent level lengths, and long boss fights. A lot of the problems with this game just come down to how drawn out it is mix together with bad camera angles and bad level design. I found myself actively enjoying speeding past or avoiding enemies altogether rather than ever destroying them. The story is also kinda nothing, with a lot of the animations being stiff and slow, and the story being ambitious till it's pretty much not, which happens at the start of the game.
SummaryMega Man X and his courageous pal, Zero are back in a new 3-D action-adventure that propels the Mega Man series into the future. Follow our heroes as they battle monster machines and huge bosses in fully interactive, vast 3D worlds to combat the Red Alert Syndicate. Three different camera views bring all the action to life. Take advantag... Read More
