Marvel's Wolverine is a tight, focused experience that never lets up or slows down more than it absolutely has to. The action is intense and incredibly violent, the combat flows beautifully, steadily evolving into something wondrous to behold. I loved the acting and the dialogue; the pacing is excellent, and the world depicted is a brutal one. Like Spider-Man before it, Marvel's Wolverine has set a new standard for this character. Playing as Logan is unlikely to get better than this for many years.

Marvel’s Wolverine is an absolute triumph in nearly every category, doing for the character what Marvel’s Spider-Man did for Spider-Man. The story is exceptional through its deep dive into Logan’s complex character, using both allies and villains and an overarching plot to deliver the best Wolverine performance since Hugh Jackman first stepped into the role.

Marvel's Wolverine isn't the X-Men story you expect. There are familiar elements here, from tales told in other mediums, some better than others. But Insomniac Games isn't aiming to tread familiar ground, making a concerted effort with this game to tell a new story in the canon of Wolverine and the X-Men that is consistently surprising, with well-manipulated twists. And even with its points of difference, Marvel's Wolverine remains true to the canon of the iconic character, delivering a bloody and action-first narrative where the prowess and pain of James Howlett is fully on show, complete with the scale and grandeur his story deserves.

Marvel’s Wolverine is a brutal, focused and surprisingly heartfelt adventure with superb combat, excellent performances, spectacular set pieces and top-tier presentation. Its minor flaws do little to stop this from feeling like the definitive Wolverine game.

Marvel’s Wolverine… what a ride! Insomniac has successfully honoured the core of Wolverine and translated it into one of the best games of 2026. From the very first moments of the game, you are taken on a jaw-dropping and adrenaline-pumping adventure as you slice and dice your way through an army of enemies as you try to save the world from those seeking to control it. From its flawless gameplay to its realistic graphics, Marvel’s Wolverine undeniably boasts one of the best narratives of the year, which is enhanced by its stellar cast who successfully make you feel the emotions of these characters from Earth 1048. Brilliant and I can’t wait for the sequel!

Wolverine is an iconic character from Marvel comics and the most important figure in the prolific and complex “mutant universe.” He deserved a game that lived up to his stature, uncut, uncensored, and with all his wild nature unleashed. The game is a delightful tribute to our favorite mutant, but it’s a very dark tribute and not suitable for all audiences. After all, Wolverine is anything but a “friendly neighborhood.”

Marvel’s Wolverine does not reinvent the superhero action genre like other games in Sony’s portfolio. Instead, it violently refines it with flair and demonstrates how Insomniac has become fluent in beautifully brutal combat. You’ll walk away fully satiated with the presentation, even if there were some missed opportunities to take Logan’s stealth sequences and broader skillset further with the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller.

Insomniac Games has once again delivered a very cool game with Marvel's Wolverine, offering a more story-driven and linear experience than the Spider-Man games. While the story feels somewhat stretched towards the end and the combat is fairly simple, the game performs well both graphically and gameplay-wise. If you're looking for a cool, story-driven action-adventure game that will keep you busy for around twenty hours, Marvel's Wolverine is definitely worth adding to your wishlist.

Marvel’s Wolverine is the definition of all killer, no filler. The game’s visceral and expressive combat system oozes with Logan’s trademark aggressive ferocity, and paired with deeply moving and layered character work the Wolverine has never felt sharper. Gorgeous presentation, a comic-book like structure, and fantastic writing help round out Insomniac’s best superhero outing in years, even when the story takes a stumble. Marvel’s Wolverine equally understands the heart beneath the claws, and in that balancing act it proves itself as the best there is.

Marvel's Wolverine is the best iteration of the titular clawed menace we've seen in nearly two decades. The story leans into the brutal violence and rage we've come to expect, while giving us a Logan who is more than just a harbinger of death.
