So I leave Haste having got exactly what I wanted from it, no more, no less. Its momentum-based platforming mechanics are great fun that tap into that sense of satisfaction I love from the genre. While it could’ve done with a bit more variety in terms of boss and level design, the core gameplay is so much fun that I struggled to put it down, and I’m sure the endless mode will keep me hooked for quite a while.

Haste: Broken Worlds is the answer to the question "what would happen if Sonic the Hedgehog had sex with Tiny Wings"? And the answer is a must play arcade/roguelike game.

At its best, Haste keeps you on the edge of your seat as you leap up and down from hills and careen through worlds. But when the game changes pace, it can be frustrating. I just want to go fast.

This game has a very engaging core gameplay and it is really fascinating how fast I was able to enter the flow state. Some of the meta mechanics, like items, main abilities and challenges add some variety to the gameplay. However, the choice of a path breaks all of that by stopping you and making a pause to choose the right way, which is absent in an infinite mode, and I think that it should be a primary mode of this game. Speaking of the characters and the story…. It is not remarkable at all, they don’t have much to tell. So, here the gameplay leads all, while the other parts of the game are just there.

An outstanding game feel that is unfortunately hampered by uninteresting procedurally generated levels that often do not flow well and lead to instances of unavoidable damage. Coupled with its rogue lite nature this leads to frustrating deaths, forcing you to replay identical feeling levels while making it impossible to memorize and master them. Had the developers focused on hand made levels this could have been a minor masterpiece, if one disregards the story.

It offers a refined arcade experience that grows in challenge and depth, combining the momentum-based gameplay of Tiny Wings with the speed of 3D Sonic, though it suffers from a repetitive boss design and a sometimes confusing interface.

Haste: Broken Worlds is a fast paced, frantic and colorful running game from which the Sonic Team has a lot to learn from.

HASTE: Broken Worlds is exactly what 3D Sonic games should strive for—blazing speed, pinpoint precision, and the rush of mastering a deceptively brutal parkour system. Gotta go fast? More like gotta go HASTE.

haste is one of the games that feels not only great to play but also great to watch. It combines many elements like perks or temprory upgrades that make every run distinct from each other. Nonetheless, the story and the characters feels lacking and the plot can be predictable sometimes.

Haste is a "speed" game through and through. It nails the sensation of speed and precision but as much as it runs it fails to reach the goals it is clearly capable of.Gameplay is simple, elegantly designed. Rewarding minimal but precise inputs. As a roguelite it lacks the replayability and variety these games are often adored for. A lack of game-changing items and mechanically rich challenges throttle its **** story is a bit too wordy for a game about going fast and escaping certain, all-engulfing doom. Characters are likable though and there is a nuanced exploration of purpose that is quickly traversed by our protagonist Zoe. Needless to say, it feels like an excuse for a game that very clearly shines through its mechanics and not the other way around.Testing your dexterity, reflexes and endurance is seldom such a fun experience. A superb soundtrack and easy-to-pick-up-and-drop design make Haste less of a promenade and more of a short thrill ride.P.S. Bosses are fun, its a crime the grappling hook is not more deeply explored.
