Whilst Everspace does repeat itself, you can quickly brush through the more repetitive aspects in favour of its combat. This is where the game focuses and it is pretty great, with plenty of options to choose from when you happen upon them. If a little repetition doesn't put you off, then you could probably do worse than Everspace on Switch.
An amazing space rogue-lite that borrows most of its charm from Dead Cells, Freelancer and FTL, but fails to provide its own original ideas.
With some good flying sensations and a true respect for the rogue like mechanics, Everspace succeeds in bringing the genre into space, offering nice graphics and amazing combat sequences on Switch.

I enjoyed everspace on a pc, it was a fun game. But it's horrible on the switch. There is no load game option in the switch version. If you press the B button at the wrong time, you back out to the title screen and lose your game. You will have to start a new game. There is even an option in the game, in settings, that reads "save and exit to title screen" but if you click it, you lose your game. Again, you can't load a game in the switch version. It's a horrible, game breaking experience.

I am tremendously bored just an hour in. Combat is both repetitive, too hard, and dull. Fights generally feel like you lose because you were supposed to. My slots start out full so no upgrades. I simply have no interest in doing anything or learning more or wasting time grinding for more upgrades, as so far they don't appear to do anything at all. None of the fun of early combat space games, none of the exploration of games like No Man's Sky, no story to cling to. It's abysmally boring. As a game developer I don't know how the people who made it could stand it long enough to get the game out without adding something before they went stir crazy.

Gets fairly repetitive quickly. Fun for a little while but not a ton to keep you coming back.

Everspace is the most open ended space shooter on Switch. It is highly replayable and there is still plenty more for me to see and do. The segmented, sector-by-sector gameplay is perfect for on-the-go play. It employs its genre better than most and manages not to feel too repetitive even as you die over and over again. This is a game that will be at the top of my Switch home screen for a long time to come.

An amazing randomly generated space shooter, and better yet it's on switch. The ship feels great to control and the objectives are fun. Best 15 bucks ive spent.

The space combat and exploration really hooked me. Roguelite loop feels good with nice powerups and ship variety. Story was a miss and slight slow downs dropped it to a 9.

If you want a roguelike that’s punishing, satisfying and built around fun aerial combat, Everspace is a good choice. The sci-fi story tries to do something different to other run-based games out there, and while there are moments where you’ll swear you’re never going to play it again, you’ll soon be picking it back up and launching off into space once more.

Everspace is full of content...and of challenges too, this space-based roguelike features a motivating and dynamic world where it's easy to get lost and to get engaged in frantic combats, thanks to its steep difficulty curve. A very solid, satisfying and demanding production which will certainly keep its players around the Nintendo Switch for a long time.

A great title with very funny mechanics as long as we are able to accept low quality textures, the angle of the camera and some beautiful cosmic environments.

Everspace: Stellar Edition isn’t the best 3D space shooter or roguelike available, but it’s a relatively unique and successful fusion of the two genres. Repetitiveness aside, you may just find yourself hooked by the game’s tight combat controls and satisfying progression loop. Unfortunately, the Switch isn’t the best way to play the game, unless portability is your top concern. Everspace for Switch isn’t for everybody, but if you fall into the game’s relatively narrow niche, a galaxy of die and retry fun awaits.

I really want to be able to recommend Everspace – Stellar Edition on the Switch, but playing it makes me really just want to go pick the game up for PC.

I have really enjoyed my first 10 hours playing Everspace. There is a genuine sense of wonder as you explore each procedurally generated sector, harvesting materials, crafting items and collecting credits to spend on permanent enhancements ahead of your next run. I enjoyed the fact that you just 'jump in' and learn as you go - it is all pretty intuitive and a run only last about half an hour, which gives you lots of freedom to experiment with crafting, trading and using new items. There are also some interesting story threads and 'quests' to work through in later runs. I'm not sure if I'll finish this game or not, but I only spent $15 on it, and so far that is money very well spent!

Maybe my expectation was too high but I'm very disappointed. Why I have to collect 14 different elements to upgrade my ship or repair or do anything? Plus the money that I have to collect too. Plus the fuel... It's too much even on easy difficulty. The graphic is good, controls are good too but the concept not.

Even after buying this game for a mere $8, I've found it to be immensely underwhelming. You definitely don't get ANY sense of space exploration. You pop into a pocket of asteroids, try not to die, then flee to the next pocket. The ship has no evasive maneuvers, making space combat a frustrating experience. It only takes a few runs for you to see the futility of it all as it quickly becomes repetitive and tedious. Not worth more than $3, lol.
