The game we were all hoping Doom 3 was going to be in the first place. It just took a few more months and the help of Nerve Software to get there. The difficulty is much higher now, but with the added power of the double-barrel shotgun and the innovative uses of the grabber, plus the insanely cool artifact gameplay balances out nicely.

While RoE provides much more interesting and tactically useful environments, it still doesn't quite offer the challenges we've become accustomed to with shooters like "Far Cry" and "Half-Life 2."

It adds enough new weapons and enemies to make the expansion feel like a solid companion to the original. If Doom 3 left you wanting more, you'll find what you're looking for in Resurrection of Evil.

First and foremost, it must be stated that this review is not about the BFG edition! It's about the original. I take this opportunity to recommend that you don't waste your time with the BFG version, as there are numerous compatibility issues that make the game unplayable. For this one, I simply used a mod that makes the game look better and run more fluidly, and it was perfect.Well, those who know me know that the DOOM franchise has always been one of my favorites. I played I and II with all their variations countless times, as well as the most recent version, which is a **** I left III aside for quite some time because... I LOVE horror games, but I'm incapable of playing alone for more than 5 minutes. And since my wife doesn't want to watch while I play, I never managed to progress. However, this time was different. For the first time, I managed not only to play this gem but also to finish it, being very pleasantly surprised! And now, I've finished the DLC.Doom 3 brings a touch of horror and "realism" to the franchise, which until then, despite a very superficial story, was more of an excuse to shoot monsters. This makes the game very interesting, giving a new dimension to the saga. In fact, unlike its successors, which focused more on unrestrained and wonderful action, this one concentrates on the suspense and "jumpscare" (LOTS of jumpscares) aspect, which is why it seems to me that it remains entirely relevant and current. It's a different proposal, but without losing the essence of the game. Combined with some mods to compensate for its age, Doom 3 is truly worth it.Regarding The Resurrection of Evil, the proposal is exactly the same, but they added a particular weapon with its mechanics, in addition to new monsters, which made everything even more enjoyable! Of course, there weren't major innovations, but they maintained the level and improved certain things, and for that alone, it's very much worth it!I know I'm biased, as I'm a huge fan of the franchise, but I highly recommend it (BUT STAY AWAY FROM THE BFG VERSION). You can play Doom III and its DLC without any fear!

Fun expansion that doesn't overstay its welcome however it gets repetitive after awhile and best played in short bursts

продолжение дум 3 с улучшением и переработкой механик. Что я могу сказать? Игра на джойстике играется отвратительно. Не знаю для кого там написано о совместимости

It’s a worthy expansion pack to the atmospheric original. It does introduce a few new toys to play, which vary up the gameplay just a bit, but it’s also still much of the same kind of explore and shoot action you’re used to.

The only problem that I found on this game it's just being kind of short, but the levels are just too insane and fun.

Like its forebear, Resurrection of Evil has graphics superior to any other game around.

A little shaky at the start, but if you enjoyed Doom 3 and you stick it out, you’ll find a lot of entertainment to be had.

Of course, it's still a bit of fun - silly, mechanical and repetitive perhaps, but fun nonetheless. There's enough ultra-violence here to entertain the young and forgetful, and the new weapons, if not a revelation, do improve the game. [PC Zone]

It's as repetitive and automatic as running in with the shotgun was in Doom 3. This joke isn't funny any more. [June 2005, p.90]

Resurrection of Evil even failed to match the atmosphere of the previous title and is little more than eye-candy without any flavor. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.

It was great to have some new weapons in the game in the expansion. The new monster zombies are cool looking and really alot of fun to kill. This expansion really makes you understand the story of it all more. If you loved playing DOOM 3 then you cant go wrong in buying this one too. I like it that it creates new ways of killing the enemies. It is alot of fun to play! It is a must buy for DOOM lovers!

A decent mission pack for DOOM 3. It introduces a few more monsters and weapons, but overall doesn't feel much different from the standard DOOM 3 game. But since DOOM 3 was a great game in its own right, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. In the end, this expansion is fine, but not particularly memorable. IMPORTANT: This mission pack is necessary to play the excellent Phobos mod.

More of the same. A few more hours of gameplay, with a few added features (the gravity gun thing was cool, if a little **** you enjoyed Doom 3, you'll enjoy this. If, like me, you weren't a fan of Doom 3, don't bother with this. I did play it all the way through to give it a fair chance, but literally the first thing I did after winning was click "uninstall".

Nerve software needs to stick to console conversions. The story is weak, the modified gameplay is even weaker. The versatility of the new weapons doesn't do much to counteract the major annoyances of the original Doom 3, which were turned up to eleven in this sequel.
SummaryFollowing the events of "Doom 3" and featuring new locations, characters and weapons, including the return of the double-barreled shotgun, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil expands the terrifying action that fans have been raving about. The expansion pack continues right where the original left off - with a terrifying atmosphere and a new sto... Read More
