What I absolutely do not think is right: to sell a half-cooked game as a "finished" product - with less content than six years ago! Because so leaves the completely surprising release of Cube World a more than bland connotation.

How do you doit? How do you go from the most complete apha project in the world to date, to a completely different, inferior product? Finding out the answer to this question will also answer why Cube World's final release is one of the most disappointing things that I've ever saw. The game was perfectly design by the start, like minecraft, but at some point the Dev scrapped all of, All. Of. It. And for what reason? Better gameplay? No, infinitely less appealing. Better Frame rate? Well that can be fixed without trampling over the initial game design. Better playability? Maybe yes, and also a big no; nothing makes sense anymore, everything was dumbed down and you feel no sense of progress whatsoever because the game reboots your ass everytime you open a new area. I just can't get over it. This is the most tragic career-ending mistake a human being can possibly make. If I could review specifically Cube World Alpha, I would give it a 7-8 out of 10. I cannot say the same to this. The Alpha had a better case against minecraft and terraria to this day than the final product ever will, let that sink in again. So yeah, don't play it. Don't contribute to this travesty. Let it die, and maybe one die we can have Cube World Alpha 2. I just hope the Dev isn't hanging by the roof at this point, I would, honestly.

The beta or alpha was my childhood and it was great I spent a lot of time immersed and travelling thru the world but when it came out and I was really hyped it just wasn't the same and I quickly lost interest in it so yeah kinda sad to see a game die like this.

Cube World Release is very different to what it was in the alpha and because of that many people are upset. However that does not mean the new system is totally flawed, on the contrary the new system is pretty good if you understand how it works. With some new combat related artifacts added to the game and travel key items not being region locked the game would be really really fun to play. As of now artifacts only buff your exploration stats which is a bit lackluster hence the 8 review. The new system fixes the higher level player playing with lower level while getting good reward problem which exists in pretty much all the RPG games out there. It is a pretty innovative yet unique system that still has some flaws obviously, but hopefully future update from Wollay will fix the problems.

The game has a lot to improve that's for sure, but it has a great base to be improved on. And there are big improvements compared to the alpha version: - Terrain generation is now way more diverse and balanced; - Quests, dungeons, are diverse and meaningful; - Even if not perfect, the new progression system is better than the old one, when after you got all equipped with epic gear, progression stopped to make sense; - Randomly generated lore is very well implemented; - New pets to tame; - New bosses to fight; I get that most of the critics will come from people o played the game when it was released in its alpha state where the paradigm of the game was a lot different. In my opinion that's not a bad thing in itself, I like the new progression system, I just think that needs to be balanced... that's all. Acquiring artifacts needs to be more meaningful for the player, and region-locked gear, I think it can work but for the time I've played, I feel the problem is the drop rates of gear that works in more than one region. Big bosses should have more probability to drop those kinds of gear. Looking forward to see what comes next to this game...

It has potential, but until the developer pulls his head out of the ground and starts communicating with his loyal fanbase that's been waiting for over 6 years to play his novel little MMO-lite experiment, it's not worth anyone's time. I understand rebalancing the game to make it so that the end-game has more meaning and isn't so boring, but in the process the developer made EVERYTHING about the game ungratifying and tedious. You die in almost every encounter, you lose all of your armor every time you change areas, and the only permanent aspect of the game that buff your stats are negligible traits like "increases swimming speed." Even something as simple and fun as grinding for EXP has been removed, so you have almost no reason to kill mobs except to hope they drop gear you can use, which becomes useless once you walk to an adjacent biome. Insulting.
