There doesn't ever seem to be any real impact of the player's decisions, actions or failures. [Jan 2014, p.76]
Beyond: Two Souls is a capital failure as both a story and as a game. The adventure plays itself and the player is left to push the right buttons in the right order. The story you are rewarded with is a mess of odd writing and poor directing choices from a game creator that obviously wants to create great art but seems to be incapable of doing so. Even fans of Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain should prepare for what is unfortunately a monumental disappointment.
A story every Playstation owner should experience.

Absolutely terrible controls! It may be a decent story in the end, but the controls make it not worth bothering. It’s also mostly boring! You really have to want to play these Quantic games, else you’ll give up due to the appalling gameplay. It’s like they’ve never seen another game and wanted to make stuff up from scratch; but failed miserably in their arrogance. Never again!

İ like the story i genuinely shocked when i saw the last episode but i have 2 complain about this game.1- I don't like how combat sistem work on this game because the game doesn’t make it clear. 2- I don’t like that interactable objects are indicated with just a single circle. I some times didn't see the object. But i love this game andthe story its not like detroit so one simple mistake won’t ruin the ending of the game. There aren’t that many choices in the game; most of the time you make choices during dialogues, and at some important moments. Otherwise, it’s mostly gameplay

Sure, there are a few plot holes and clichéd moments in Beyond Two Souls but like Heavy Rain, it may become one of your most memorable gaming experiences to date.

The acting is top-notch, the writing is good, the design and implementation of the life sequences is excellent, and the mechanics are functional and ask you to remain vigilant and timely. It’s just that it doesn’t feel as cohesively polished as one would hope, and there are limitations to the QTE concept, even when it’s expanded upon.

Don’t get me wrong, the game tells an interesting and emotional story, and the acting is top notch, but it does aimlessly plod along here and there. Thankfully, Quantic Dream ensured that Beyond: Two Souls would wrap up in an amazing, thought-provoking way which does make the ride very much worth taking.

Beyond fails to convince the player that what happens on screen really depends on them and therefore make them contemplate what would they have done in Jodie’s place. What saves the story is great acting. [12/2013, p.54]

In Beyond: Two Souls, Quantic Dream had the tools necessary to make something great out of its quirky game design philosophy. But having the tools and using them are two different things. A game like this lives and dies by its story, and unfortunately for Beyond: Two Souls, the story was fatal.

Quarter to Three
But Beyond: Two Souls is far worse than convenient, facile, and ridiculous. It’s overall tone is low-key and morose, without energy or enthusiasm. Scenes drag out, with long pauses. Glances shift awkwardly. Character models fidget. This is about an eight hour game, but I’d estimate two or three of those hours are pregnant pauses.

A masterpiece, the type of game that I would always have in my library wherever I play.

As someone who liked Heavy Rain I can safely say Beyond Two Souls is not worth getting whether you're a fan of Interactive dramas or not the story was interesting, the characters were unlikeable and the only likable characters were Willem Dafoe and his assistant, the QTE's are atrocious because you don't even know when Jodie is gonna move her body, the graphics look very good, the acting is ok and the game is really boring and you just want the game to end. Overall the game was a massive letdown and is not worth checking out

Beyond: Two Souls has a interesting story and even better main lead in Elliot Page, but overall this game just falls too short on everything else that would have made it good. Despite feeling like you have choice, freedom, or the ability to explore; Beyond constantly feeds you lies on how much impact you actually have on the story. Beyond is just too restricting for its own good, and while its understandable that they want players to experience the story its meant to be told; it means nothing when all that emotional investment is met with a few quick choices.
