First of all, I would like to say that this game is really only for players who are looking for a big challenge. At least if you play it on the highest level of difficulty, and in my opinion you should do that with this game, because it requires special planning and strategy, such as the choice of cards and card deck for many battles. You should be prepared to get frustrated very quickly and I would be lying if I said that didn't happened to me. But the rewarding feeling when you master the challenges and win the battles is all the greater. I would have preferred to give the game a 7.5, but because this is not possible I've rounded it up to 8.

If you’re looking for a card battler that looks gorgeous and has a captivating story, Ash of Gods: The Way is a must play. Just make sure you have graduated with a master’s degree in strategic turn-based battles and puzzle-solving.

Ash of Gods: The Way doesn’t shy away from the realities of war, whether it’s the unpredictability on the battlefield or the impacts it has on those involved. The story sucks you in as you try to end the war, but your decisions result in non-linear gameplay that makes you wonder if you made the right choice. Combat is strategic and forces you to plan ahead, using all resources available to you to overcome your enemies. The difficult Challenger battles sometimes feel blatantly unfair and having only a single save file does create issues you can’t easily resolve. But if you persevere and come up with new tactics, you are rewarded with a great story and gameplay that makes you feel like a real tactician.

Ash of Gods: The Way is offering Tactical and Deckbuilding in a really cool manner, bringing a different rule for every battles + optionnal challenges, wrapped up with really cool Art, Music, VO, Characters, lot of polished handcrafted stuff!

A disappointing follow up to a decent game. Ash of Gods went from tactical RPG to a soulless card game with terrible writing and a terrible story. It would be one thing if there was at least some originality to it but 90% of the artwork is literally just copied and pasted from the first game without any of the context. It’s just… very bad…
