Anima: Gate of Memories I & II Remaster is a collection of two very low-budget action JRPGs that I really enjoyed. Anyone looking for something in the vein of Nier should definitely consider playing it. The changes in this remaster are almost entirely cosmetic, though, and probably won’t justify a double dip for anyone with the original games. The price is very low, though, and there’s a lot of content to be found. Hopefully, developer Anima Project gets enough attention to develop games on a grand scale in the future.

Anima: Gate of Memories I & II Remaster brings two ambitious cult action RPGs back into the spotlight with sharper visuals, smoother performance, and a clearer presentation of their dense lore. The core experience is still uneven with dated design, clunky movement, and occasionally awkward voice work remain, but the improvements make the journey far easier to appreciate. It’s a flawed yet fascinating return, especially for those who enjoy old-school, Nier- or Drakengard-style oddities and want a polished way to revisit (or finally discover) this universe.

Anima: Gate of Memories I & II Remaster is a good action-adventure game. Even with technical limitations, the game delivers fun combat, a cool story, a functional skill window, and a pleasant **** you're a fan of the hack 'n slash genre, it's a must-buy.

Anima: Gate of Memories I & II Remaster delivered an improved version with superior lighting, textures, and new difficulty settings. However, it still falls short due to the lack of Portuguese subtitles and the limiting Ki bar, which hinders the overall combat flow.

When it comes to the category of remasters and remakes, I am becoming disillusioned by the minute with every release. Anima: Gate Of Memories 1&2 Remaster is a needless and quite cynical attempt at porting an older game to current generations. Whilst new visuals will attract some fans of the franchise, there are far too few new additions and updates and this is very disappointing. The developers could have made some vast improvements in the quality of life department but ultimately they chose to make it quick and easy. Overall, it is a profound disappointment. I cannot in good faith recommend this remaster to anyone who already purchased these games almost 10 years ago.

Anima: Gate of Memories I & II Remaster is an opportunity to revisit (or discover) a cult saga that blends action, dark fantasy, and existential dilemmas. Despite inherited technical issues and a complex narrative, the package delivers two intense adventures with satisfying combat and a unique atmosphere. It is recommended for fans of action RPGs and for those who appreciate more philosophical and gothic stories.
