One of those games you can play for hours, take a break and go back for more. Each mission is different as you have such a variety of planes to choose from.
80
The wide variety of reality-based planes combined with convincing engine sounds and strategic combat missions will please veterans of more serious sims, while the easy control scheme and familiar setting will please the kids.

Wins big points on sentiment, concept and gameplay but it loses when it comes to long-term appeal. I finished up both the campaigns in about 5 hours and, although there was a lot of fun packed into those five hours, it was over far too quickly.

All in all, Dogfighter is a heck of a lot of fun and a great way to release any pent-up frustration caused by years of parental nagging.
73
Just one of the two campaigns along with the multiplayer mode and customization features should be enough to keep you busy with Airfix Dogfighter for a while.

Fortunately, AD survives its more nagging issues and manages to blaze a trail of light fun and humor with its crayon bombs and pellet machine guns.
50
The one area where the game can be a bit of fun is in the multiplayer mode, in which you can play with up to seven other players and still part take in some of the surreal arcade action while zapping around the attic in a Hurricane.

The core loop in Airfix Dogfighter feels rushed, prioritizing feature quantity over refined, bug-free execution. Opponent pathfinding and threat assessment remain deeply flawed, forcing the player to compensate for erratic AI blunders. In addition, severe cpu single-thread bottlenecks manifest as campaigns progress, causing jarring micro-stutters even on enthusiast hardware. Long-term support has increasingly devolved into monetizing surface-level content while leaving legacy engine defects untouched. Ultimately, Airfix Dogfighter is a cautionary tale of great strategic premises crippled by inadequate testing and aggressive monetization.
