Whoa! Like others, I almost skipped this movie because of the critics! Their comments were vague and unfounded. I absolutely was spellbound by the movie. The storyline, tempo, historical aspects, and tension were spot on. Just look at the positive user score ratings. I wonder what it would be if the critics ratings were less negative. This has happened on more than a few movies! Yes, I use metacritic, but I always check user scores, and other sites. Frankly, I seriously wonder whether there is a bias against movies about Jews, given the current political landscape with young, liberal critics. Hmmm.

I am so surprised by the negative reviews, as I saw this with 12 fifth graders and their families and we all loved it! The casting was great, the dwarves were a riot, and the inside jokes were fantastic. Give it a try!

This movie was such great fun. Paul Giamatti at his best, and a 'spot on' supporting cast. The humor was dry, refreshing, and definitely added to the unusual story line. It was independent film making at its best.

Well done! I watch a lot of period pieces, and everything about this movies 'fits', including its casting, acting, and cinematography. Mia provides a strong axis around which this complex tale spins. We are left still amazed at the depth and complexity of her character.
