Dune: Part Two3
Apr 20, 2024
Strayed too far from the book for my taste, and in wrong direction, not for the better. Sometimes it's just dumb, like having fetus Alia communicate with her mother. Poor pace and story development. Everything takes place in a few months, whereas this part of story spans years. This is such a packed and powerful story, but they're simply not giving the audience much of it.

Thor hits new low. Previous movies included attempts at comedic elements, but this one is pure comedy, a bad one. Chris Hemsworth is simply not funny (but he would have been excellent dignified Thor, I think), or maybe it's the scripts for Thor movies that are bad. Probably both. Maybe I wouldn't mind turning Thor into comedy if it was any good, but this I mind.

Great fun. Leave behind unnecessary criticism and skepticism, bring suspension of disbelief, and you'll have a good time. Far superior to part one. This movie is free of politics, it has very little political correctness, so it is pretty much free of so much annoying stuff that plagues today's movies. Definitely worth the trip to cinema.

Dune: Part One5

I like the cast, the movie looks impressive, I'm a great fan of the story, they didn't stray away from the book in any significant detail (I didn't even mind that Liet Kynes is a woman)... but it feels a bit empty, lacking in information and population. Both Caladan and Arakis look uninhabited. I am not talking about the desert, that's fine, it should look uninhabited, but the city of Arrakeen looks like a model sitting on a desk, and then you become painfully aware of the fact that that's exactly what it is. It is difficult to cram all the important book information into a movie like this, so they took too much luxury in taking it slow and showing so many visions of Chani. The dialogue/voiceover should have been much richer and packed with information. As it is, if you haven't read the book, you'll have a difficult time figuring out what's going on. I enjoyed the movie to some degree, but I still feel that this could have been done much better. Worm scenes are great.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring4
Feb 7, 2021
I disliked this movie right from the start, because it is not true to the book. Sauron was not defeated by dumb accident. He was overpowered and thrown to the ground, and then Isuldur cut the ring from his hand. Further, I did not like actor choices for some of the characters or their acting, namely Frodo, or any of the Hobbits for that matter. I struggled to watch the scenes with Hobbits, and those were many. Maybe Sam would have been ok with different Frodo. Ian Mckellen was kind of okay as Gandalf, but I wish Sean Connery had accepted the role. I did not like Vigo Mortensen for Aragorn, especially since "Carlito's Way" was still fresh in my mind, and I don't like him now either. The rest of the movie(s) is ok I guess, and that's the best I can say. Actors playing Elrond, Galadriel, and Saruman saved the day, and the rest of the cast were decent enough.

Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood2

The movie is boring, but suspenseful since we all know what's coming - explicit and grotesque violence. I like violence as much as the next guy, but this is just ridiculous. And the alternative history was a nice gimmick the first time. Now it's just pathetic. I guess the whole point of the movie (besides violence) is exacting revenge upon the Manson family and sticking it to them. That's fine, but I have no strong feelings about the whole affair. It all happened before I was born, far away, and to people I have never heard of. I just don't care, and Tarantino failed to make me care. Oh, and that movie within the movie crap also failed big time. Only managed to bore me some more. I used to like some of Tarantino's movies, some I haven't even seen, but I definitely don't like this one. Good acting couldn't save it. The only good part is the end credits scene. I guess I regret the two and a half hours spent watching it, plus 15 minutes writing this review.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi0

Complete fiasco!!! I wrote a review for Episode VII - The Force Awakens, and I my score was 6 for that movie. It was OK in my book. I'm saying this just to give you a perspective as to where I stand with regards to Star Wars. You should avoid seeing this one if at all possible. I am not quite sure which is worse, this one or Clone Wars, but I think it's this one. Everything is awful, everything! I don't even want to get into the specifics. I have watched all of the Star Wars movies, but I seriously doubt I'll watch the next one after this. I just won't be able to trust these people with two hours of my time ever again.

Easily top 10 superhero movie, better than most. Visually very rich and powerful, with great sound. It's fun, and includes the right amount of action. Also, it has dealt with the race, xenophobia, and equality issues pretty well, for a SUPERHERO!!! movie. All those people giving negative reviews should just lighten up. I enjoyed it very much. I probably would have scored it higher if it wasn't for those obnoxious teenage girls who sat next to me and kept talking and using their phones during the screening. That just shows poor upbringing.

I just cannot believe this site counts 460 positive reviews for this movie. It is possibly the dumbest and least imaginative movie ever made. It is also terribly boring and a terrible waste of talent. There are some respectable actors here, without a single interesting line what so ever. I hope this is a warning enough for anyone contemplating watching this abomination. Let me get back to those positive reviews. The people who wrote them should be put on trial. They are criminals, because they lead innocent people to watch this mind damaging atrocity, and they should be prosecuted. Hold them accountable I say. Unbelievable.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens6
Dec 29, 2015
Yes, there are cons, but there are pros as well. Let's deal with the cons first:
1. It is not very original. There are too many similarities to New Hope.
2. Learning curve for these new heroes is way too steep. They acquire skills too fast. This is my biggest objection to this movie, however the story would not work without it, or there would have to be other characters involved.
3. Too many unanswered questions. I understand they do not wish to reveal everything in one movie, but at times it feels like the sole purpose of this movie is to serve as teaser for sequels.
4. Action is back to the level of episodes 4, 5, and 6 (not even 6).
5. The new Sith lord is not very impressive (at least compared to the Emperor). He looks like alien who crashed on Earth and got hit on the head with an axe by a villager (which is what the people of my village used to do whenever aliens visited)
Other than that, I have no major objections. And for the pros:
1. Han Solo and Chewbacca.
2. Finn is funny and likable new character, and he works out well with Han Solo.
3. Rey is pretty, when she's not trying too hard to act with intense emotions
4. No Hayden Christensen or Natalie Portman. Their screen time in parts 1 through 3 was one of the worst movie experiences ever.
5. No Jar Jar Binks or the like.
6. The new droid is adorable. I love the way it climbs down the stairs. I'd love to see R2D2 try that.
if this was the first Star Wars movie ever, it could have been much more impressive. We've just had too much of the Star Wars Universe in the past, and expectations were seriously high.
Here is how I would list/rate Star Wars movies starting with the best:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Hew Hope
3. Revenge of the Sith (Oooh if it wasn't for Portman and Christensen, this one would be number 1)
4. The Force Awakens
5. Return of the Jedi
6. Phantom Menace
7.Clone Wars
I only wish the technology had been available when they made parts 4, 5, 6 to make the action and special effects better. Yoda fighting and other action scenes are the only reasons I even acknowledge Clone Wars and Phantom Menace.

The only reason why I give this movie score one and not zero i because of the line from the movie when Paul Rudd says to Michael Douglas "Who are you, who is she, what the hell is going on, and can I go back to jail now?" Otherwise, it's a terrible superhero movie. Let me just make it clear here that I do not use the same criteria for all movie genres. Superhero movies get lower criteria in terms of acting, story credibility, character development. There are always dumb aspects of story in such movies, however they make up for such deficiencies in spectacular scenes and entertainment. For many of us, the main value is just bringing our favorite comic book characters to life. Many people are wrong to overcriticize superhero movies. They are not supposed to give us deep, believable stories, with elaborate character development. They are made to entertain and to amaze our visual and audio senses, not to produce strong emotions, or to stimulate deep thought. That being said, the story, the script should make some sense, and they should be somewhat consistent, with witty and funny dialogue. This one fails at that . First, they try to give it some scientific credibility, and they they totally disregard their own initial setting of the scientific premises. At first, upon shrinking the Antman does have the same mass and produces somewhat appropriate physical effects as he engages the world, and then they totally forget about it, and they let Michael Douglas carry a shrunk tank in his pocket. They should have made up their minds right at the beginning to either disregard the science or to stick to it. They cannot have both in the same movie. This is just one example of the issue, and the whole thing just doesn't work. Now, all of this should not be a big problem. You just forget about this movie and the time you just wasted, but this thing is going to spread to the Avengers series (it already did with it's references and appearance of Falcon and the Avengers base), and that worries me. This is going to contaminate the Avengers series, which so far was quite good, again given the genre.

Delightful! I truly think this is the best animated movie ever. But that is just me. Some people may not find it so entertaining or satisfying. It's a family movie not doubt. It is smart, funny, deep, original, sad, disturbing at times, complex for such genre. All in all, high quality stuff. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Enjoyable movie. Refreshing. Certainly better than all those James Bond movies. Violence is bit extreme in a couple of scenes, but it is toned down by lack of too much blood. Anyway, you cannot have the plot of the movie presented properly without the violence.

I am actually quite content with the series. More so than the LOTR series, and the main reason is - I like the casting much better in this series. Choice of actors is far better that the LOTR. Martin Freeman is excellent as Bilbo (as opposed to Frodo in LOTR who was awful), and Luke Evans should have been Aragorn in LOTR, however he's excellent as Bard. The others are just fine. I did not read the book - Hobbit (I tried, I just couldn't go on), and I think the movie is much better than the book, as opposed to LOTR where it's quite the opposite. Overall, fine trilogy.

Run away! This is bad. It is so bad, it almost overflowed and became the best movie ever made. I'll never look at my bookshelf the same way again, knowing there's a black hole behind it. So, the people in this movie traveled to far galaxies, mastered gravity, time, and space, but still had to leave the Earth because of wheat cold, which the corn started to catch. That robot is the only thing about this movie I liked. Everything else is pure garbage. The plot, the sci fi, the length, the screenplay, special effects, all of it **** way more than a super massive black hole. I need some protection, and hereby I'm trying to provide protection to whoever is reading. Do not watch!!!

This movie is just another episode of "Through the Wormhole", though one that is somewhat outrageous and off the chart, with weaker than usual science. I did not care for most of the action. There are some cool scenes and special effects which I enjoyed. It's a movie about a woman becoming god. I think she will be benevolent. Don't expect too much. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the good parts.

Another disaster in the world of superhero movies.Terrible, awful, extremely bad. Do not believe any of the 656 positive reviews. People who wrote those are either very dumb or they work for Sony or whoever else profits from this piece of excrement. I love Sony, but I used to love them a whole lot more before I saw this. If it's not too late, like it is for me, do not watch. Not in the cinema, not at home, not anywhere, not ever. However you look at life, it is far too precious to waste two hours of it on this film. For specifics, read the other red reviews. There's plenty there.

I am outraged that this movie received a single, let alone 447 positive reviews. I cannot use foul language here, as much as I feel the urge, so I will just say this: shame on all of those who gave this movie a positive review, regardless of whether they did it because they are stupid or just because they are liars. I can't afford to waste two hours like this anymore, and I would like a warning before I see a dumb plotted, predictable piece of excrement like this one here. Who could have imagined that one guy had a twin brother, and that true magic would come about produced by none other than Nikola Tesla?! And the lead characters' motives, ridiculous. At first he hates him because he caused his wife's death, but then he couldn't care less any more about his wife, he just wants to ruin his act and steal his lousy tricks. The other guy reciprocates wholeheartedly. If you wondering who he is and who the other he is, you weren't paying attention. It's completely unimportant. Who cares. It just an awful, awful, aaaawful movie. If you haven't seen it, I envy you. Stay away!!!

I felt compelled to write this review because of the overall positive score this piece of cr.. received. I had some issues with the two previous Batman movies, like the absence of the gothic ambiance - you can pound us endlessly with the claim that the scene is Gotham, but I can still tell it is New York, or poor action scene and the fact that in combat Batman looks like an ordinary bar fighter - hey this is a marshal arts master pushing the human limits of speed, quickness, strength, and agility, and in these movies he looks kind of slow. In this latest movie, for moments I though I was watching Rocky 6 or something. They were exchanging concrete **** blows endlessly. is that supposed to be an action scene in a modern time action movie. But those are just lighthearted objections. Here comes the heavy stuff. This movies is soooo stupid, it may well have the dumbest and most inconsistent plot I have ever seen. From the little details to the overall plot line it reeks mind boggling thickness. And.... and it is 164 minutes long. Those were the most painful 164 minutes of my movie watching life. I see some people here are careful not to give out any spoilers. Here's a spoiler for you, give this movie the widest possible berth you can imagine, and spread the word before it's too late, and too many people are violated by this weapon of mass brain cell destruction.
